  1. So far I've always quit 1-2 years then came back when I felt like it. I don't know that I would come back now though, being maxed (minus dg) I don't see what I would be doing anyway. Maybe if a new skill came out.

Seems to be that way for all players, even me.

One does not really quit. One just takes an extended break.

That's only an illusion though :P

You only ever hear from people who still play. All the people who've quit permanently aren't here to reply.

  2.

You could probably say that the spotlight is more on the world than on any of the characters, including the PC. You're just poking through the ruins.

It's sort of like the Metroid series, in that sense. If you're a fan of worldbuilding, you'll love it. If you prefer character driven stories, you can do better.

Pretty much. To me it feels like all the exciting stuff happened before our time. The game is like "<Insert exciting stuff> etc but hey too bad you weren't there to see it huh buddy? hur hur troll troll". Plus the second game is gonna be set in a different land, so probably all the unanswered lore stuff will never be answered.

  3. It's got a whole bunch of story, it's just not spelled out to you through a whole bunch of cutscenes and junk. It's generally inferences made through item descriptions, NPC dialogue, locations, etc. The story telling it employs is pretty much in the top 10 videogame stories, I feel.

And there's no need to farm souls early on, to tell the truth. Soul acquisition gets pretty crazy the further you get in the game.

Some people like that stuff apparently. Reading item description is boring. I wouldn't call it a story, it's lore. Your story as a character is pretty much "kill stuff, go ring bells and choose whether you kindle the fire again or not." Hardly fascinating. The lore is interesting, but if I hadn't watched videos explaining the lore I wouldn't know half of it, a lot of people are in the same boat.

  4. Hm old thread.

It's a nice game with a good combat system. I like how you can use any weapon/armour and do well, instead of everyone always using the best thing.

Some things I don't like though, such as how the game feels very lonely and the barebones storytelling. Some people apparently like the atmosphere, but I'd take chatty npcs and a well-defined story over that anytime.

  5. These lyrics are dedicated to Vann:

Now this is the story all about how

My life got flipped, turned upside down

And I'd like to take a minute

    just sit right there

I'll tell you how this stupid update is not even fair

In West Varrock area, Grand Exchange

Near the wall is where I planted most of my seeds

Chilling out, planting, cleaning all fools

Showing off my cashpile, damn I'm cool

When Jagex came out "bye gambling for good"

Started muting homies for planting flowers

I got in one little fight with Tansuo, I'm scared

Now I need to move my ass to make my own money and that's not fair

I sang this on the portal tune for some reason. It worked.

  6. Everyone has an accent lol, yourself included. How about telling them you don't feel like talking if you don't want to talk? Personally I like talking to taxi drivers....many of them (the immigrants) usually have very interesting stories if you give them a chance.

Obviously everyone has an accent. You know what I meant, critizing on spelling makes you look like a douchebag.

You didn't make a spelling mistake? And sorry if I don't feel pity for your being in a situation of your own making. If you don't want to talk, say so.

Criticizing wording for the sake of critizing does make you a douchebag, pretty simple. ;)

  7. I hope you're being sarcastic. :P But if you really don't know, I guess I'll spell it out for you. If you have the accent native to your region, because you speak like everybody else, it appears as though you have no accent. Saying "I have no accent" is like saying "I have the normal speech for a person of this region".

  8. Everyone has an accent lol, yourself included. How about telling them you don't feel like talking if you don't want to talk? Personally I like talking to taxi drivers....many of them (the immigrants) usually have very interesting stories if you give them a chance.

  9. Taxi drivers. >.> Half the time I can't understand a thing they're saying, and they don't understand what I say either. You have to practically mime the address. Sometimes you end up with the talkative type that spends the whole journey talking about random crap nobody cares about. Do you seriously think I care about the grades your son got at school? Christ. I'm trying my hardest to kill the conversation, but they just won't let it die. Sometimes, and this is probably the worse, you end up with the "can't find crap without the GPS" type. I've had taxi drivers literally turn around in circles because the GPS told them so. And of course, when I tell them they're doing it wrong they don't understand a word I'm saying.

  10. I don't care what people do, as long as they keep their shit out of my face. I don't wanna see it, I don't wanna hear about it. Escorts are fine by me, people do their business and I never know about it. If this were to be legalized, you'd end up with whorehouses at every street corner. That breaks the golden "not in my face" rule. No support.

Actually, "not in my face" would be "not on my property", which every street corner is not.

Nope. Not my in my face = not in the open. What people do behind closed doors bothers no one. But when you have half naked girls in window display boxes dancing suggestively at every street corner, where people and children will be walking, that's a public nuisance.

  11. In online games when people don't understand the concept of negociation.

Eg. Bob wants to buy item X for 300 game money. John wants to sell item X for 500 game money. Bob offers 300, John says he wants 500, Bob counter offers 400, John says 450, Bob says 415 and John accepts.

Some people just don't seem to understand this. Eg. John never accepts anything unless it's 500, and stays stuck with his overpriced item forever. In a big game you would just find another seller, but in a small game it can be hard to find certain items when there are so few in circulation.

  12. I don't care what people do, as long as they keep their shit out of my face. I don't wanna see it, I don't wanna hear about it. 13. The smoke detector goes off at the slightest thing. As long as there's a tiny wee little burnt something anywhere on the food or the cooking surface, it goes off. Half the time I use the oven it goes off unless I take anti-smoke detector precautions aka open the window. I could take out the battery and then back in every time I bake, but really that would be too much work, and not safe anyway.

  14. When there's comments/reviews on something coming from people who have yet to try(insert any verb) something, could be a film, a product, a recipe, etc. Eg. You find a recipe, you get 50 reviews of people saying "That looks amazing, I'll try it tonight!" and then like 2 reviews of people who actually made it. Why don't you give your opinion after you try it instead of being useless?

  15. Damage control.

I won't be resubscribing when it runs out in a few days. All these microtransactions take the fun out of the game. And I'm a bit of a fashionista, so having every new customization costing money I don't like one bit. Whatever happened to outfits like ibis and necromancer where you actually had to work for it? I've no proof but I get the feeling that all this talk of "re-investing" into the game is just PR-talk for "we're gonna milk RS for what it's worth and use the money to make our next game". Their team has doubled, but are those new people working on RS? Nah I don't think so.

  16. Total biscuit ripped it a new one in his reviews.

I have to agree based on the game play he showed.

Unrelated, but I very much dislike TB. He's an arrogant [wagon].

Maybe but he does exactly what it says on the tin :P 'the cynical brit'

  17. I'm all or nothing, on or off. I play a game all the way until I arrive to a point at which I suddenly don't feel like playing anymore and I stop completely. That or I finish the game, whatever comes first.

Then assuming the game has replay value or I'm not finished yet, some months later I will usually suddenly feel like playing again. And the cycle retarts.

I saw that review too. Looks it could have been really fun, but they had no idea what they were doing. Minecraft pvp is way better.
