    Skillcapes Toggle

You asked, and we delivered! This update will allow you to toggle between both your old and new skillcapes, plus you’ll be able to keepsake both versions too and toggle individual skillcapes at the skillcape vendors.

Your new model has been updates and the older versions now have hooded versions.

"Old and new"? What the heck does that mean?

Does that mean I have the option between picking between the trimmed and untrimmed version of the cape?

Why the heck would I want to have an untrimmed cape? The trimmed ones look way cooler.

"Old" meaning the version of the skillcapes before the March update; "new" meaning the current version.

GG all my BXP, enjoy being turned into Dungeoneering points.

Exactly my intention, I hate Dung, but like the rewards :)

Do sinkholes! It's quite different from dg, so chances are you won't hate sinks, and it's quite a bit of dg xp in about 15min each day.

Sinks are how I went from "holy crap this is terrible" to "okay, I'll do some solo dungeons every now and then", and sinks are still my main training method for dg.

Edit: Also it's a decent amount of tokens. Not great, but not awful.

  3. There's the catch bonus and also the doubled-fish bonus (I think you get xp for the extra fish caught); those are the main benefits.

But there's also something to be said for reducing effort and eliminating human error - it's really, really nice to be able to do something else and just relax while barb fishing, and you don't have to deal with messing up your drop method at all.

  4. After April 6th, I'm thinking about doing the quest Mourning's Ends Part II, but maybe I should try this one instead.

What do you guys think? Is it worth it?

If you're only going to do one or the other, I'd do MEP2 to get closer to entering the Elf City.

I don't see a reason not to do both, though. (Do ALL the quests!)

  5. @ Go make another topic to discuss the Patch Notes.

Waiting for a Guide for the egg part.

Closest you can get to a guide is to open and use the notebook the game gives you - if you haven't been using that, it helpes a ton by telling you what affect each egg type has on the egg's stats.

The stats they ask for is different for each player; if you're having a lot of trouble, you can always talk to the imp/dwarf and ask them for a different combination of stats to meet (though you have to discard the egg in the machine first).

  6. April fool's prank seems to be Jas Hands override for the glove slot!

Also a dude in Lumbridge (between gen store and Explorer Jack's house) who assigns you to kill rats (like a slayer task, but with no rewards).

Also a raven by the Draynor Manor gallows that you can "spot" to get a message: "You have found 1/365 ravens! I wonder what happens when you find them all." (As far as I know, that's the only one.)

  7. First of all, no. I don't expect anyone to find the proper outfit for me. <snip>

    Oh?

<snip> But I still really would like to know how I can dress like Santa in a RuneScape video without the santa suit. It seems impossible to me.

I guess no one knows what I could do this Christmas in RuneScape if I wanna dress like Santa.

Yeah, that proves my point further.

Seems to me that you wanted exactly that.

<snip> And yeah, I am a hypocrite for complaining about this despite stating many times I would never wear/hold something with no stats. <snip>

I didn't actually say anything about you being a hypocrite, for what it's worth. (Though others might have.)

<snip I just wanna try, just once, make a RuneScape video where I am in a Christmas outfit. But I can't. This isn't a huge issue since I rarely make Christmas related RuneScape videos, but it still is something that makes me have such a grudge with Holiday events in RuneScape.

I'm certain you can find some kind of holday outfit without having that specific one (outfits from events from other years - maybe even this years; non-event outfits like the red basic clothing outfit that's been suggested twice already; and I'm sure there are other possibilities you could come up with). You're also fully capable of making a Christmas-themed video without having a Christmas-themed outfit.

And, at least to me, holding a grudge about something is only worth doing if it's at least a moderately large issue. Same for calling something "unforgivable". You seem to be making a rather big deal out of something really, really small.

As I said, if you want to be upset about it, go for it - but you're coming across as really bitter about a pretty minor issue, as well as ignoring or rebutting those who try to actually help you solve your problem, so don't be surprised if your complaints aren't well-received.

  8. Here's a copy/paste of the relevant patch notes, in case anyone comes in without having seen them elsewhere:

    • Dimension of Disaster's reward interface will no longer use plural when purchasing something for just one silver penny.
    • Aubury's free elemental runes in New Varrock now restock more slowly and in lower quantity.
    • Catbot 9000 in New Varrock will now only take one doogle leaf.
    • By order of Zemouregal, signposts to inferior city states surrounding New Varrock have been removed.
    • Players watching others complete the Delrith boss fight during Dimension of Disaster will no longer see their version of the demon explode.
    • Players can now give a micro brew to Tiny Zemo inside the vault in New Varrock.
    • Arrav is now referred to as the hero of Varrock at the end of Dimension of Disaster.
    • The spelling of "Kerapac" in Zemouregal's notes in New Varrock, use of orange and purple mist on the tin soldier, and a statue description in New Varrock palace have all been fixed.
    • The Varrock Herald has published a reprint of their newspaper in Varrock, due to a complaint from "Aubrey".
    • Arrav's name is now used instead of the player's name in conversations when the player is controlling Arrav.
    • A lore issue in the Ralvash section of Zemouregal's notes in New Varrock has been fixed.
    • Arrav's reaction to Ellamaria during Dimension of Disaster has been toned down.
    [/hide]

I wasn't sure if beating up Johnny counted, or if it was the multitarget abils I used that hit and killed nearby zombies, but either way that's an easy way to handle it, yeah.

  9. Hey look, DoD improvements.

Aaaand they overbuffed Darklight, lolz. Time to break out my mask of the abyss again.

AND FINALLY ADDED COLLECT BUTTONS TO THE GE INTERFACE YAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY

Edit: Also, managed to earn 40k rc experience in about ten minutes of catching butterflies after sinkholes, around the entrance to the sink. ezpz

I guess no one knows what I could do this Christmas in RuneScape if I wanna dress like Santa.

Yeah, that proves my point further.

This is my first visit to this topic (so I didn't have the chance to respond earlier), but I'd guess an all-red basic clothes outfit (possibly with white trim, depending which style you chose) and white hair w/beard would be reasonably effective, especially if you grabbed a Santa hat (which you still can get, albeit not easily). It won't be as good as the actual Santa outfit, but that's hardly surprising.

It's hard for me to take you seriously when you're complaining about an aspect of the game that has been present for almost its entire history (unique, one-time holiday rewards). Especially when it has zero effect on gameplay and only affects looks, which means it's very unimportant to me personally. And your rebuttal to such points thus far have read (at least to me) along the lines of "I don't care I'm upset about this anyway," which means I'll take you even less seriously, especially when you start taking people's refusal to engage with your nonsense as proof that you're correct.

If you want to be upset about it, by all means, do so. But don't get annoyed at those who don't feel like trying to solve your problems for you (coming up with an outfit for you), and don't take our lack of posting a solution to a problem that most of us probably don't consider to be a problem as proof that the problem cannot be solved.

  10.

And yeah, higher tier armors are pretty necessary for bossing. You will not get far at all wearing dragon.

Don't worry, I will get a better armor if I ever decide to boss hunt. But it's not necessary at all when dealing with mtihril dragons, steel dragons and nechryeals.

But when I face a boss monster, if I ever do, I will.

It's not necessary, but it can provide a significant boost to your killspeed. I don't see why you wouldn't use better armors, especially since you can keepsake dragon if you just want the looks.

  11. Seriously though, just get overrides if you're caring about looks. Wearing power armor will make your kills go much faster - that's the whole point of power armor, to make armor useful even at mobs that don't deal much damage.

And yeah, higher tier armors are pretty necessary for bossing. You will not get far at all wearing dragon.

(While we're on the subject, I've got an expansive set of spreadsheets for equipment linked in my sig, if you want some guidance on what upgrades to make. GWD power armors - Bandos, Armadyl, and Subjugation - are an easy pickup; beyond that, it gets more expensive and degrades, but if you have the funds nex armors are absolutely worthwhile. And then there's the other slots to consider, beyond head/body/legs, and those have more options.)

  12. I think changing their update schedule to be less written in stone and more flexible would be a very good thing. I'd still like to see some months with three or four small updates, but I'd love to see some months with one or two big updates. I've never really cared that much whether they hit their once-a-week schedule perfectly; I'm far more interested in seeing good content, and I think changing their schedule around would help with that.

  13. It'll vary by stats, but I solo'd corp relatively easily with bandos gear, zammy spear, ovls, and ~93 prayer. I'd guess 85s or 90s with bandos gear, zammy spear, extremes, and piety/mixed bag of ancient curses sub-95 could make it work, though it wouldn't be easy. Obviously if you have better, use it (t95 prayers are nice, ovls/supreme ovls are nice, chaotic spear is very helpful), but corp is still do-able without all that. Starting with a few practice mode runs before you go for real would be a good idea if you're using lower-level gear like that.

You definitely don't need everything MCsq2 listed to do, like, corp reaper tasks. You'd probably want better gear for farming him for cash, but even then you don't need all that he posted (dreadnips and goliaths are totally unnecessary, for example).

Fair warning: I am not one of the experienced PvMers Arceus referenced; I don't do much PvM, largely due to lack of interest. I do some Reaper tasks, though, so I have done the lower- and mid-tier bosses, like GWD generals, KBD, KQ, Corp, and rarely QBD (can't get the hang of her mechanics to do much QBD, sadly), and I'm using the GWD power armor or Ports tank armor with t80/85 weapons. And I've been doing all that when my combat stats were all in the low 90s, before getting 99 magic/defense, so don't let my current stats mislead you too much.

Fight Kiln, though, that's my favorite. Give me a Jad or Har-Aken task any day and I will be happy as can be.

  14. I loved the fun dialogue and examines and such. (Tiny Zemo is the best. Cats were excellent as well.) I'll admit, the corpses hanging on chains and heads in Zemo's bedroom was more grisly than I generally expect from Runescape.

Mechanics could've been better, but I'm pretty much okay with it. Could use less forced-replays; it got tiresome. Glad they're fiddling with the guard drops to make that less ridiculous.

The following chances are going to be in the game:

    • Removing Lower-value drops from Guards (Hotfix)
    • Everyone gets a drop for helping w/ kill (Hotfix)
    • Putting Coal and Silk in shops (Unknown value, requires Game Update)

Hopefully the price wouldn't be too high :).

    Sink?

  15. Replay inventory notes:

So yeah, if you write down your codes, you don't need the stuff to get the codes. The prayer order for Father Lawrence is also always the same for everyone, too.

    Thus, you need:

    • Weapon of choice (and optionally armor)

    • Mith crossbow and grapple

    • lockpick

    • one vial red & purple mist (you don't actually need the orange)

    • cabbage, rotten tomato, hair of dog (for sober potion), beer

    • silverlight, black mushroom

    • cultist outfit OR override

    • vial of blood

    • zombie outfit OR override

    • ring of life, 11 raw undead beef

    • dwellberries, sacred oil

    • canopic jar/vault key/prepared canopic jar, tiny key/Shield of Arrav, Darklight

(items that you can keep and use indefinitely are bolded; items that you must reobtain each run are italicized; normal text items are used up during the quest but can be reobtained before ending and carried through reset if desired)

Using the sober potion on the beer (and later, using sacred oil on the canopic jar) gives you an empty vial which you can then fill with blood for Delrith. Delrith takes the vial when you draw the blood circle.

You probably should use the diamonds from the chests to make rings of life for your replays, before making diamond stuff to sell to the gen store for more zmarks, because the gem shops restocks rather slowly.

You can use wardrobe preset slots to switch between your normal setup and the two sets for the quest, or you can wear one of the outfits and use an override for the other. You don't really need armor for replays, assuming you bought the two shortcuts after your first runthrough (but you do need a weapon for a few bits).

    Replay speed notes:

You can skip some dialogue with the relevant options. The gypsy has a few of these when you first start the quest ("1. Ugh, we've been through this already" then later "2. Skip it")

You must talk to Image of Zemo to finish Coin of the Realm quest; skip some with "3. Get to the point" at first chance. Upon getting quest complete for that, you can walk away and ignore the rest of his dialogue

You also can save some run time by doing Shield of Arrav and Demon Slayer at the same time:

    •

    • Talk to the gypsy to start Demon Slayer

    • Head to the museum and talk to Orlando to start Shield of Arrav. Keep talking to him until you tell him where the gang hideouts are.

    • Talk to Sir Prysin and search his drain for the key, unlock the trapdoor, then head to the Gypsy for the spirit measure.

    • Head to the Blue Moon Inn and talk to Dr. Harlow; grab a beer, cabbage, rotten tomato, dog hair

    • Talk to the Apothecary to get a sober potion, use it on the beer.

    • Talk to Katrine

    • Give Dr Harlow the drugged beer, click the spirit, then kill a zombie.

    • Fight Johnny for his arm.

    • Talk to Katrine. Once you hand over the arm, click her again and hit "1. I want to join the Black Arm Gang," press Yes, then click the door to the hideout.

    • Head to the West Bank and claim the shield half

    • Click the tombstone stack north of the West Bank, click the spirit, press spacebar, take a step in either direction, click the spirit again, spacebar till you get the cutscene.

    • Head to the East Bank, go upstairs, and claim the shield half. Use the halves on each other to make the shield.

    • Give the shield to Orlando at the museum. Fill your empty vial with blood while you're running by the fountain.

    • Search the moving bookcase and kill the animated book that spawns.

    • Click the Spirit of the Mind, spacebar until you have options, choose 4, 3, 4, 4, 4.

    • Go get Silverlight

    • Equip your black robes/override, grab a black mushroom and use it on Silverlight. Equip Silverlight

    • Talk to Evil Dave, pass the barrier, talk to Delrith and Agrith-Naar until you have the skip-fight option

    • Talk to the Gypsy to finish Demon Slayer.

    Defender of Varrock:

The book you need in the library is always in the same place. (Northwest bookshelf for me, not sure if it's the same for everyone.)

If you have the code from your first run-through written down (the numbers, not the letters), you can go straight to the prism safe once Reldo sends you upstairs.

The code interface always stays on the last number you used, including both code interfaces (so the last number from your CoA code is what it'll start on here). Knowing this and counting your clicks saves some time, as you don't need to wait for the "you don't have decoder strips" interface to fade before entering numbers. Alternatively, keep some decoder strips in your inventory.

    Curse of Arrav:

You can cook the 11 undead (cow) meat on a range, or you can cut some logs and cook on a fire. Either works. Drop or sell the meat when you're done, unless you plan on killing some guards or sommat.

Turn on Ult Strength, Eagle Eye, Rapid Restore, and Prot Summ prayers before talking to Father Lawrence to skip some dialogue. Click him, spacebar till it exits, then click him again, then click Mystic Might and click him again to get the oil. (You have to get the canopic jar from Ernie before you can get the sacred oil from Father Lawrence.)

You can't get the footlocker/vault key until you've talked to Arrav while holding the prepared canopic jar.

Again, if you wrote down the codes, you can skip some steps. This time the code interface start with the last number of your DoV code.

You don't need to wait for Orlando to move to pickpocket the curator and steal the shield; just making the statue shake is enough.

Once you hand over the sword and shield to Arrav, you can click the thone room door; you don't need the rest of his dialogue. You cannot skip the cutscene of Arrav walking to the gargoyle, or of Arrav collapsing after the fight. You don't need to pick up the health orb from the gargoyle if you're going to skip the Zemo fight.

You could definitely do a full replay in <30min if you concentrated.

    Other notes:

If you have an active decorated cooking urn in the overworld, you'll have to use it up/destroy it before you can fill the one for DoD: Curse of Arrav.

Teleporting the urn in CoA can be a touch buggy; be sure to let the teleport animation finish before talking to Ernie.

The shortcuts skip only that specific boss fight - you still have to go through dialogue with Delrith and draw the blood circle for Demon Slayer, and you still have to fight the gargoyle for Curse of Arrav.

You cannot skip the final cutscene with the Esc button; this just spits you back out into normal Varrock, and the cutscene restarts when you re-enter the portal. And can crash your game (mine died at the end of the cutscene after I re-entered. Whoops. Logged back in and I was in normal Varrock, portal was gone, talked to the Gypsy and finished the replay just fine.)

You need 4 replays to get all the rewards from the Gypsy's shop, including one lamp. (10 pennies first run, 5 pennies each thereafter; need 30 pennies for every reward, including one lamp.) That was with all the tasks done, which may or may not impact it.

You get 1600 zmarks from doing a full replay of the quests if you've done the Elite tasks, but you spend 4 in the process (two for beer, two for something else, forget what), for a net gain of 1596 per run. Obviously you can increase this by buying gems, making bracelets, and selling them to the general store during your run - just be sure you have enough rings of life before selling your diamonds!

Buying the Darklight upgrade reward does not impact the stats of Darklight within New Varrock.

(whoever winds up writing the guide for Tip.It can absolutely feel free to use this info, maybe as a skeleton outline for the guide; I'd appreciate a credit if you do.)

  16.

Do overrides count for the Demon Slayer/Castle portions? That would have been handy to know way sooner.

Keeping the coloured mists, decoder strips and code key on me, as well as some fire, earth, cosmic and nature runes.

    Yeah they do

With the Agrith shrotcut you seem to be able to skip all fighting you do as actual you as well, which eases need for inventory items.

I worked out so far you need:

    Lockpick or Keycode

    Vial of Blood

    2 Vials Red Mist

    Vial Orange

    Vial Purple

    3 Tin

    4 Fire runes

    1 Nature Rune

    Ring of Life

    Cabbage

    Rotten Tomato

    Beer

    Decoder

    Black Mushroom

Hair of Dog and Sacred Oil and Dwellberries need to be picked up each run through.

10-12 raw meat might be doable on invent, not worked it out.

I'm told that the code doesn't change each runthrough, so you may not need the decoder strips.

Edit: Actually that'd mean you don't need the tin/tin head/superheat runes either, wouldn't it?

  17.

Exactly how would that work though (I'm unfamiliar with that game as well)? Maybe a logarithmic effect as you chip in more and more lower level armor with random chance on top of it?

You're gonna have to explain what that diagram means; it makes absolutely no sense to me.

  18. I agree that the principle of "let's have a competition for everyone!" and then locking out 15k players from it is rather questionable.

But I doubt that this idea started as a competition. I'm betting it started as someone saying "We have a bunch of players who don't play quests. Why? What's the motivation there? And what can we do to encourage them to play through this massive facet of the game they're currently missing?"

I really think this was a genuine attempt to encourage folks who don't play quests to go play through some, in the hopes that if they do, they'll realize quests are awesome and then play more of them after the competition ends instead of avoiding them like they're the plague. And hey, that's a laudable goal.

I'm not incredibly happy with the results - they could've achieved the same end without insulting folks like me who have and are ridiculously proud of their quest cape - but changing the title definitely helps, and I'm willing to cut them some slack for having solid intentions.

    Off-topic, but...

Well, I don't even bother anymore with that kind of crap they're throwing at us. Thr obly ones that win this titel are high levelled Players that kever bothered with lore or questd and are bow rushing through them for the title. That's nog what quests are for. Quests are there tot entertain you, tell a story, immerse yourself in the world, none of this Questival nonsense.

I can't help but wonder if you were commenting on a phone, with that extreme degree of typos... it made me giggle.

  19. Got a tsuba voyage a while ago, which succeeded, but I don't have the scroll to use it yet so it's been sitting in my bank.

Got my first of the new Trio voyages yesterday, which succeeded, so now I have the seasinger mainhand. :3 (Totally forgot to pay attention to the craft xp when I made it, sorry!)

I kinda wish there was something to do with the surplus parts - is there any reason to keep more than two of them? Or do you need them to repair the weapons?

  20. I can't help but notice that they didn't list fansites as an option!

I pass by the front page a few times each week, and I see the newsposts listed in the Lobby, but I generally read the content when it gets posted here, because I wanna talk about it too. Also nice to have the patchnotes easily accessible instead of being linked to the start of the stupid patchnotes thread. (Is it really that hard for them to link to the actual post?)

  21.

Standing in corridor no longer counts as a kill and you won't be rewarded anything in the chest if you do that. It was fixed a long while ago.

So yes, you must participate in the kill to be awarded for it.

What we do now is have the leech go in with a yak, hide in the corner and just eat if they get hit while the player on their side solos.  Usually we'll just all hop over and pile the brothers.

Ah, so it's basically the same as leeching any other boss now. Eat up and not die, lol.

I still disapprove of leeching. Anyone, and I mean absolutely anyone, is able to get kills on any boss as long as they look up guides, ask people for advice/teams, and practice. Practice makes perfect, you can't get better at bossing if you refuse to even try. I'm new to PvM and I managed to get the hang of all the bosses in RS, and this is coming from someone who free-leeched a Rots kill for comp back when you could stand in the corridor. Decided to learn how to do Rots and did 10 kills with friends today (and gave them helper points).

I almost entirely agree with you - the only case where I'm not certain is that of Arraxor, and that's purely because I don't know if my arachnophobia can handle the degree of concentrating on [bleep]ing spiders required to successfully defeat those ones. And I don't expect that to be an especially common issue, nor is it necessarily an insurmountable one, and I'm absolutely going to try my best to surpass it myself. (And if I can't do it myself, I probably will just not get whatever in particular requires it and still be quite happy without - because I earned what I earned myself, not by leeching from others or getting them to do it for me.)

  22. i would like to be able to replay the quests that force you to make choices that alter other quests so that we can see all of the outcomes, but if it's too much work, it's not entirely a necessary thing

That's what the dialogue pages on the wikia are for!
