  1. Raptor's Challenge | Acheron Mammoths Prepare yourself for the fourth and final high-level Slayer monster as part of November's Raptor's Challenge: Acheron mammoths! Head to Gielinor's frozen north with your best gear to take on the Acheron mammoths! Be sure to check them out this week to make the most of the remaining double Slayer XP! Will you be brave enough to take them on? Read on for further details, or play now! Where to Find Acheron Mammoths Use the new boat, north-east of Rellekka, by the rock crabs. Requirements You must be a RuneScape member.96 Slayer is required to harm Acheron mammoths.99 Summoning is required to use the new beast of burden.100 combat is required to be assigned Acheron mammoths by a slayer master. Other Information Very high combat stats and your best gear are strongly recommended.Beware of their charge, and fight with honour! Acheron Mammoths were an excellent RuneLabs suggestion made by Adelunth and will be the last Slayer mob to be added to Raptor's Challenge. Start by travelling to the coast north-east (and outside) of Rellekka, north of the lodestone. By the rock crabs, you'll find two boats: use the larger one to sail to an ancient iceberg, where you’ll discover a herd of Acheron mammoths. These territorial beasts will pose a real threat to any adventurer who dares to face them. If they have you in their sights, get out of the way fast or you'll see nine tons of tusks, bones and fur coming for you with their charge attack! Survive a fight with them and you may be awarded with a mammoth tusk which can be used to summon a baby pack mammoth (99 Summoning required). They may be small, but they're the best beasts of burden in the game, holding a whopping 32 slots of mammothy haulage! Make sure you keep an eye out for that fourth and final key part! Piece your keys together and – finally - redeem your loot from Raptor's chest. It's packed to the brim with Slayer-related goodies – and more – so be sure to pop the lock if you can! Have Fun! This is the final slayer monster of Raptor's Challenge! We hope you enjoy taking down the Acheron mammoths and return to test yourself against them in future. Enjoy, and let us know your thoughts over on the forums. The RuneScape Team This Week's Live Streams Each week we stream developer Q&As, in-game events and more. 3. Dive into your very own aquarium in today's player-polled Construction and Fishing update. Pack it to the gills with fish from all over Gielinor and kit out its two floors with a huge variety of accessories, décor and nautical knick-knacks. Introduce a prawnbroker and unlock perks aplenty: including baitless fishing; great white shark to catch, cook and keep as pets; and the ability to cook sushi: high-level food with additional restorative properties. Read on for more information! ___________________________ How to start Requirements You must be a RuneScape member 63 Construction 20 Fishing is required to catch fish for the aquarium Construction At 63 Construction, head to your player-owned house and click on a ground-floor door to build your aquarium. It spans two levels: a dry room on the surface, and the aquarium itself beneath. Note that this update brings a +1 increase to the maximum rooms available at any given level. The surface room is traditional POH fare, containing hotspots that can be filled with decorative items, and some important functional ones. This is also where you'll place the prawnbroker, who unlocks reward perks and controls various aquarium-related settings, and a diving suit, which unlocks resource harvesting options in the aquarium below. Crucially, it includes the bathysphere, which allows you to add fish to the aquarium, and to head down yourself. The aquarium itself is a whole different kettle of fish: instead of hotspots, it's a grid-based area where you can freely place the various available items. These include: Harvesting nodes, yielding seaweed, kelp, pearls and other gems, planks – even elite clue scrolls – on a regular basis.Large, decorative items which grant passive boosts to catch chance at fishing areas around the world.Smaller, purely cosmetic decorations, such as cannons, coral, anchors and stone heads.Plugs, which – when you've collected all the available fish for the aquarium – allow you to reset it. Meant for the most dedicated among you, this prestige option means starting again, but grants you decorative plug locations the first and second times. Fishing From 20 Fishing, you will occasionally find a golden fish egg while fishing around the world. Using a golden fish egg on the bathysphere will introduce a fish of the type you were catching to the aquarium: TroutSalmonTunaRainbow fishLobsterLeaping troutSwordfishLava eelLeaping salmonMonkfishLeaping sturgeonSharkCavefishRocktail You will always receive the fish that you were catching when you found the egg, and you can only collect each fish once – unless you reset your aquarium with a plug. ________________________________________________ Prawn Rewards As you fish, you will occasionally receive prawn balls or prawn crackers, which can be opened for some fantastically fishy rewards. Prawn balls are opened solo, while prawn crackers are opened with a friend for a reward each. Opening one grants you a reward from a special drop table, which includes prawn coins (consumables which temporarily increase your chance to fish up golden fish eggs), decorations for your aquarium, and – rarely – golden fish eggs for random fish that you don't own, including any for which you don't meet the Fishing requirements. Once you've got a prawnbroker in your surface room, you can start acquiring prawn perks. You'll get one of these each time you get a golden fish egg, and can get more as you acquire prawn balls or prawn crackers. Each prawn perk unlocks a benefit or reward on the prawn perks progression tree, which can be viewed by speaking to the prawnbroker. These include more frequent prawn balls and crackers, the ability to fish without bait, the ability to cook sushi, and a whole lot more. The great white shark is a new addition to RuneScape's marine wildlife. Once its prawn perk is unlocked, it can be caught at any shark fishing spot at level 80 Fishing; is available for your aquarium and as a floating, surface-world pet; and can be used in new sushi cooking recipes. Note that – should you reset your aquarium with a plug - your prawn perk unlocks will not be reset, including your great white shark. ______________________________________ Have Fun! These can be converted at the nearby light rift into light cores, which are an ingredient for creating light creature pouches.Light creature familiar: grants a passive chance to instantly convert harvested memories outside of Prifddinas. Its special move grants a six-minute 'enlightened' buff, which gives you better rewards on the Hefin Agility Course, increases the instant memory conversion chance, and grants a chance for double blue tears in Tears of Guthix. Finally, it can teleport you to Tears of Guthix or to tormented demons.Impling collector: Daffyd the impling collector wants you to collect one of each type of implng, in exchange for cosmetic 'thinker's' robes, a hearty chunk of Hunter XP and a switchable choice of increased XP or increased loot when catching implings.Lord Amlodd: not just a spinner of tall tales, he can also trade pouches for a portion of their spirit shard cost, much like Bogrog. She can convert the Imcando or gilded tools to crystal varieties, but you will lose any additional benefits and will not be refunded the materials used to create them.Harmonium harps: playing these gives you Crafting XP and non-tradeable harmonic dust, which is important for crystal singing.Mining: you can mine soft clay, ready to be used for crafting, or crystal-flecked sandstone, needed to make crystal flasks.Glasswork: a crystal glass machine allows you to make the crystal glass needed for crystal flasks. It also performs all functions of the machine in Oog'log. Clan Hefin - Agility and Prayer Serenity posts: hop onto these to earn up to 20,000 Agility XP per day. Match the stances demonstrated by Lady Hefin for the best XP rate.Agility course: complete laps while looking out for randomly spawning shortcuts and building up Velocity - which lets you skip an obstacle when at 100%. As an Early Bird Bonus, you'll be twice as likely to get edimmu as a slayer assignment for the next two weeks!Harmony pillars: new farming patches, which allow you to grow harmony moss - an important ingredient in perfect potions. Pillars are planted with seeds available from a nearby NPC or on the Grand Exchange, and attuned to a random skill. As you earn XP in that skill, the moss on the pillar grows.Perfect juju potions: made by combining juju potions with harmony moss, these have a range of new skill-specific effects.Combination potions: with crystal flasks in your inventory, many high-level and utility potions can now be combined to create six-dose potions, granting the effects of both. Recipes for these must be unlocked, some by simply visiting the herblore shop in the Meilyr district and paying a sum of coin, and others by finding recipes in Daemonheim first._____________________________________________________________________Enjoy! 8. Build the Beach | Dyed T92 Weapons Reyna's prepping for the release of the annual Lumbridge Crater Beach Party at the end of this month, and until then you can help her out and pick up some sand-tastic rewards. The Ninjas have also expanded the range of dyeable items, and there's a suitably sunny selection of wonders in the patch notes. Read on! Build the Beach How to Start Speak to Reyna in Lumbridge Crater Requirements None Reyna's tried to bring beach building into the Sixth Age with some innovative magical automation, but it's all gone a bit awry. She could really do with a hand. Gather sand as you skill and kill around Gielinor (with a better return from Mining or Construction), then hand it in to Reyna at the crater. You can also spread out the sand at the crater itself - just watch out for the magical anomalies running wild around the area! You can spread up to 500 sand per day, but there's no cap on gathering sand in the wider world. Speak to Reyna to claim your rewards, or do so via the Seasonal Events tab. You can unlock a new five-piece sand outfit – the perfect match for the sand cape from previous years (also available if you don't already own it). You can also earn the ring of sand, which will give you the beach body you've probably never dreamed of. You have until 23:59 UTC on 31st July to gather up sand, although the rewards will remain available until 23:59 UTC on 2nd August. Dyed Tier 92 Weapons & Patch Notes The Ninjas have made it possible to apply blood, shadow, Barrows and Third Age dyes to the tier 92 weapons from the Heart of Gielinor, giving the sartorially savvy adventurer new ways to slay in style. For full details of the updates released today, see the patch notes. Have Fun! The sun's shining in Gielinor, so get in game and bask in some 'Scaping glory. See you there! Edit: It looks like embedding won't function properly at this time, please click here to see the BTS video. The Month Ahead - March 2017 Mod Osborne's here to tell us what's in store for March. After a pretty darn enjoyable Games Jam over the Double XP Weekend, we've focused March's updates on the stuff that was dreamed up over that period. A common thread is that they're all updates to things you play and enjoy every day. Luck Rework No longer will the ring of wealth or luck potions be your only way to modify how lucky you are in the game. We are adding 3 new rings that can affect bosses, clue scrolls and some skilling activities, with the top-tier ring involving level 107 Invention and a new gem – alchemical onyx - to create. More bosses have been added to the list of things that luck can affect, so raids and battles against foes like Telos can be more lucrative than ever before. You'll also get increased chances to get those really desirable items when solving clue scrolls, and increased chances to get a whole bunch of other things across the game, including Seren Necklace symbols, Black Ibis and more! Arc Improvements The Arc is set for some improvements too, with extra features for Alaea crablets and the Arc Journal, alongside the all-important addition of new rewards, like the High Armour of Hanto, and its related weapons. We're also making some changes to your main game screen, splitting out buffs and debuffs so they can be more easily managed, and you can see exactly what's affecting your play as you take on the challenges of the world. We've taken your comments on board and added more buff and debuff icons, like Dreadnip timers, stun immunity and Excalibur cooldowns, and added more buff icons to appear on NPC health bars for even clearer feedback. Pet Interface Additions There's improvements to the pet interfaces too, adding some of your favourite inventory based pets so you no longer need to go back to your bank to access them. And... More Skilling Outfits Obtainable In-Game We're also making 5 more skilling outfits available outside of Treasure Hunter, a very useful range of gear that adds XP gains to a range of different skills. So, if you have a few pieces you haven't quite managed to find yet, you'll be able to by playing a range of different in-game activities. Look out Divination, Cooking, Summoning and Prayer outfit opportunities soon. The 5th skilling outfit is a special elite shark outfit, similar to the gemstone golem and rune ethereal outfits already in the game. You'll need to find its fragments using the fishing skill, and then piece them all together with an invention blueprint...eventually leading to the elite fury shark outfit – the ultimate in fishing attire. For those of you still waiting for the perfect name for your character, you might get lucky this month as we release another batch of old, forgotten player names back into the mix. Zamorakian Event In other news, the twin furies are sending their agents back to Gielinor to bring Zamorakian defectors to justice! Check out the event shop and ingame skilling opportunities for Zamorakian Marks, tradeable for some fierce cosmetic outfits! Lumbridge Crater: Reclaimed Finally, that nasty old crater to the west of Lumbridge has finally been reclaimed by the forces of nature, with lush plant life erasing the battle scars of the past. And the duck pond is back! Yay! Have Fun! Have fun with that lot. The Game jam really produced some great ideas, thanks so much for getting involved – we couldn't have done it without you. This means the rest of the development team can focus on the big updates coming up in the next few months. Shattered Worlds, Menaphos and the new Achievement system are looking great, and I can't wait to see them in game. Mod Osborne What is a Behind the Scenes article? Behind the Scenes is a sneak peek at the planned game updates that we hope to launch in the coming month. This, however, is only a plan - not a promise - that a particular update will be released in a particular way or at a particular time. To get you the highest quality updates as quickly as possible, we usually keep on tweaking and testing right up until the moment before release, so sometimes things change or take a bit longer than expected. We aren't afraid to change our plan if necessary, as we will never launch an update before it is ready. Looks like some solid updates, personally looking forward to see how this luck revamp will pan out, and adding the potential to earn more skilling outfits outside Treasure Hunter is a big plus, even if I likely won't use them too much.
  10. Behind the Scenes - October You want to know what's coming out in October? Did you mean Arctober? Yes, me hearties, this month is all about the Eastern Lands! Four new islands to visit, a bevy of rewards and even birds to spot, all in the glorious name of completing the Arc region. For the rest of the month, we stray into other waters. Have your timbers thoroughly shivered by our Halloween event. Swash your buckles with the final, definite, cross-my-heart-and-hope-to-die launch of Bounty Hunter. And keep your hoard safe in Customer Support Week. The Arc – Chapter Two So, let's start with the Arc island chain, and a glorious thing it is, squarely answering your feedback on the Arc Chapter One. It's full of fun training, killer rewards, and more stuff than you can shake a Yaktwee stick at. Here's the whistlestop tour: Four new islands in the form of Tuai Leit, Goshima, the cyclops island ofCyclosis, and the sullen Islands that Once Were TurtlesSeveral miniquests, during which you'll scuttle the fabled zombie ship, the HarbingerHigh-level Divination and Farming training methods, with Divination offering best-in-skill XP ratesAn Arc journal with pages of birds and impling-like kami to tick offUpdated contracts from Sojobo, with more skills covered and better loot from NPC marks Most importantly, there are the improved and expanded rewards that you've been demanding since the first visit to the Arc: A bone picker upgrade for your bonecrusherTier 85 boots and gloves that will supplement Ports armour with a set effectNew divination scrimshawsA crystal tool siphonA particularly awesome-looking Hunter outfit, giving +6% to Hunter XP and stacking with the Yaktwee stick This is all coming into port on the 10th of October, and we'll be celebrating with some permanent changes: a free ticket to large islands as a drop outside of the Arc, free supplies on your first visit, free flags, reduced costs for the better Uncharted Isles and rarer resources on those same islands. That's some of the best rates of XP. Halloween But, if you're a little sick of colour and daylight, then close the curtains, let the darkness in, and enjoy this year's Halloween event. We'll be chucking you through a dimensional rift so you can re-enter the twisted world of Dimension of Disaster. Here, you will find Dr Fenkenstrain, who is taking the Invention skill to pretty disgraceful lengths. If you've got the stomach(s) for it, disassemble dead people and bring horrific animated creatures to life! The event will run for two weeks, giving plenty of time to collect its macabre rewards, including a pet and a flashy lightning rod conductor hat. This little treat won't actually require Invention, and will be available to all - so free players and members alike will be able to create their own zombie monstrosity. Bounty Hunter Worlds But where might you get an influx of bodies from? How about Bounty Hunter? After being delayed from September, it's coming in October! If you're unaware of what Bounty Hunter is, it's a hardcore PvP minigame where you're assigned another participating player as a bounty target and asked to hunt them down - but it makes you their target too. The new Bounty Hunter aims to make PvP a viable, endgame moneymaking method. We also plan to knock you out with the range of rewards on offer – brawling gloves, patches to upgrade your ancient gear to tier 88, Crucible weapons with tier 87 stats and brutal special attacks...and much more. Customer Support Week To be confident that you can enjoy everything in October, we'll be giving you incentives to make your account rock-solid during Customer Support Week. During this week, you'll encounter Count Check, a vampyre who vets your account for correct setup of security measures, and rewards you with lamps – giving you yet another reason to ensure you're protected. He's got a couple of events to get involved with: a special edition of The Drop focused on security, and a free clue scroll every day for both free players and members. Level up your account security now, because it all kicks off soon with additional free Treasure Hunter Keys every day for people who have secure accounts. Solomon's Store and Treasure Hunter To round out October, we will be bringing an elite skilling outfit to Treasure Hunter. There's a running theme with this outfit: get 7% additional Dungeoneering XP, 7% extra XP on all skill nodes, 7% damage boost in dungeons and 7% discount at the Dungeoneering shop, to name a few. Plus, there's the Walk Like a Zombie event, which rewards ghoulish tasks around the world with rotten zombie outfits. My favourite part? You can use the outfit to bite other players and infect them so they, too, stumble about like a zombie. Finally, for those of you who buy certain RuneCoin packages on Solomon's Store, we will be offering you a spider-related outfit and a pet as a cheeky little extra. Enjoy! There should be enough meat on October's bone to keep any zombie enthusiast happy. And make sure you take a trip to the Eastern Lands this month – there hasn't been a better time to embark on the Arc. These include: God books are now equipped in the pocket slot instead of the off-hand slot. Each god book has a special proc effect that is unique to the god it represents, with a chance to activate whenever you attack. These are based on the original God Wars Dungeon bosses, so if you’ve ever fancied doing Nex’s ice prison attack or smashing your foes with K’ril Tsutsaroth’s slam attack, now is your chance! You can use god book pages on god books to recharge them. God books require 30 or 40 Prayer to wear (regular and illuminated versions respectively). Unfinished god books are wearable in the pocket slot but provide weaker bonuses and no proc effect. Reclaiming god books from a player-owned house bookcase now incurs a cost (100k for completed, 120k for illuminated). Dimension of the Damned Pit yourself and your friends against the undead in Dimension of the Damned and compete for the unique title of King/Queen of the Damned and a host of prizes - the ultimate PvM challenge. Start the one-hour timer using your HUD in-game and rack up points while slaying as many zombies as you can to secure your place on the leaderboard. You can restart the clock to improve your score as many times as you’d like. The top 1,000 players after ten days will make it through to the finale on the 28th for the chance to win a selection of sought-after prizes, including (but not limited to) lifetime membership, an all expenses paid trip to Jagex and 200M GP. Need-to-knows Dimension of the Damned is PvM only, even in the Wilderness. All players start with maxed stats and starter gear. Catching Zombeism from bites saps your health, but you can stave off the effects by taking antidotes and/or consuming modified shrimps prior to battle. These (and other useful items) can be obtained from Zkrik’s shop in Falador using bottle corks. You can also get them from supply drops, but you'll only have three minutes to find the crate. Falador is a safe space where the dead don’t rise. You’ll be escorted back there by white knights if you become inactive, and you’ll respawn there if you die. However, players with Zombeism can’t pass through the gates. Banks across Gielinor will be open for use. Space is limited though, and you’ll have to pay for it in bottle corks. You can read about the rules for the finale here. The chance to compete for a place in the Finale ends in ten days, so don’t delay. 15. Improved Looting Improved Looting is here – another update fuelled by your feedback from theRuneScape Beta. With a single click, bring up the new, customisable loot window and grab everything in the surrounding area that meets your criteria. This has the potential to significantly change how you play, so we've given you the option to use old-style looting, if you prefer. Read on for more information! How to Use Improved Looting The improved looting mechanics are switched on by default, and you can customise them through the Game Settings interface. If you'd rather stick to the old loot mechanics, this is also where you can toggle them off. Simply left-click a piece of loot and the new looting interface will open. It will gather and display all loot that you're eligible to pick up. Then, you can click individual items to transfer them to your backpack, or click 'Loot All' to grab everything. To customise the Loot interface, first go to the Game Settings interface, then click the new 'Loot Options' button. This enables you to toggle the loot interface entirely (default on), toggle area looting (default off) and toggle right-click activation of the Loot interface (default off). This is also where you can set up custom loot criteria. This lets you set a minimum coin value and various categories - 'herblore items,' 'prayer items,' etc. – which can be ticked in any combination you wish. Selecting any of these will add a 'Loot Custom' button to the Loot interface, which will pick up any items which meet the criteria you've set. Note that the Loot interface cannot be used in most minigames, and that area looting requires line of sight to the item in question. Also, certain items – such as those specifically related to quests – cannot be picked up through the Loot interface. You can pick up any such items in the old way by right-clicking them, as long as right-click activation is turned off. Enjoy! This comes fresh from the RuneScape Beta, and is another example of the quality-of-life improvements we can make with your help. Let us know what you think! 16. Hi there, This my Runelabs idea which is to bring in another upgrade or two to Ava's devices that she currently has. The Alerter is currently the highest tier available, in Ava's stock and is lacking in stats, which is sad. I would love to see a higher upgrade become available. As the next highest thing that collects arrows... Is the completionist cape. Please Tip It Community, is this a small update you can all get behind? If so please follow the link to my Runelabs idea and support it. 17. While i was just leveling up my construction skill, someone came in and killed me, making drop all my stuff and sending me back to lumbridge. 1. why can players enter your house while you are in build mode? 2. why is it i dropped my stuff while i was building, instead of just getting sent out of my house? 3. Why can't i decide the pvp area in my house? 4. Why does someone do this in the first place? i didn't lose anything of value, just was a mild set back, it just pisses me off that this happened
  18. New Auras | Gauntlet of Souls This week's update is a two-parter. Today, we release a massive batch of auras, including all-new options and higher-tiered versions of some old favourites. Then, from 00:00 UTC on 27th October, Gauntlet of Souls breaks free of its shackles and shambles forth from RuneLabs – lasting through the Halloween period for two weeks. As well as its spectacularly spooky new environment, there are some great rewards – including a Kharidian cat pet, gravestone overrides andXP-giving herb burner. Read on to find out more! New Auras Brand new auras are now available via Xuan's Loyalty Store or Solomon's Store. The following come in five tiers, all with benefits ranging from 3-15%: Dedicated Slayer | Slayer kills have a chance not to reduce your assignment countFlameproof | Reduces chance of burning foodFocused Siphoning |Increases chance of successful siphoning at the RunespanThe following are equivalents to the melee Berserker aura – both at tier three: Reckless | Boosts ranged damage and accuracy, at the cost of defenceManiacal | Boosts magic damage and accuracy, at the cost of defenceBrawler comes in four tiers, with benefits up to 10%: Brawler | Increases melee accuracyWe've also added new tiers for the following favourites: Wisdom | Supreme and Legendary tiers, with duration increased to 60 and 90 minutesJack of Trades | Legendary tier, requiring 25 different skills trained in three hours Gauntlet of Souls | Halloween Event - Free-to-Play How to Start Enter the soul rift by Burthorpe's lodestone from 00:00 UTC (game time) on 27th October Requirements None Other Information Combat is safe, with scaling NPCs. The event is accessible to Ironman players. Forged in the baleful fires of Cinderquill's RuneLabs suggestion, this year's Halloween event takes you on a journey to the Underworld – aiding Icthlarinagainst the depredations of Amascut. Jump in the boats to start rescuing souls from the river. Occasionally, special souls will spawn that will grant you XP, in a skill determined by the type collected. Once 20 souls have been collected, you'll be able to to escort the souls across the bridge, fending off Amascut's devourer beasts along the way, using your combat or divination powers. Note that fighting the devourer beasts gives no XP – so there's no risk of earning any unwanted combat XP. Every 15 minutes, the Avatar of Amascut will spawn, and must be defeated. Team up and take the beast down! Rewards You'll earn Noumenon Favour for participating in the event. Also, skilling or training combat on the surface world during the event will occasionally spawn a lost spirit. Calm these spirits for XP, then hand them in to Sinn Derkwill in the Underworld for Noumenon Favour. This can be spent on some unique rewards: Kharidian cat pet.XP lamp: usable on the skill of your choice.Death animation override: Be dragged to the Underworld by a devourer beast. This can be toggled at Death's house.Members also have access to the following rewards: Herb burner: this placeable item can be used to burn herbs for 10x the XP gained from cleaning them. Note that the rate at which this is done is not the same as cleaning herbs.Gravestone overrides: these resemble the jackal and lioness statues seen in the Underworld, and can be selected or deselected at the Keldagrim shop.As another members' benefit, the Underworld is also host to another Ectofuntus. It's much like the surface version, although there's no need to traverse floors to pick up buckets of slime, so Prayer training there is a good deal quicker. Have Fun! Enjoy the event and new auras, and let us know your thoughts over on the forums. The RuneScape Team Live Streams this Week Each week we stream developer Q&As, in-game events and more. Today’s update is also about giving you awesome rewards to discover. Without giving all away, here are some picks of the bunch. Get your hands on the final parts (gloves + boots) of the Tier 85 Tetsu , Seasingerand Death Lotus sets , allowing you to finally complete the armours and unlock their set bonuses . Fans of Hunter rejoice - there are some fresh threads to boost your prowess too. You no longer need to check back with her every single day – you can simply pick them up when you want to. We’ve also introduced up to 20 customisation slots for your own island. Decorate until your heart’s content or consider adding the mysterious new tortle portal – charge them up, add one or several to your island, and see where they can take you. Additionally, there have been tons of balance improvements and general changes to the Eastern Lands. Check out Mod Shauny’s handy mega-thread for a full list of these. 21. Morytania Madness | Plushies | Myreque Memorial It’s Morytania Madness this week in a pre-release event for the upcoming quest, River of Blood. Hunt down haunted plushies and honour the vampire-hunting dead while you relive the vampyre storyline so far. Early bird bonuses on Memorial to the Myreque offer tons of extra XP for members who complete the content early. Combat players can also sharpen their stakes with glee and take on a new ghoul in a new tomb, seeking out a new item too. Read on for more! As it takes place in Morytania, this pre-release event is RuneScape members only. We strongly recommend that members play through or revisit the Myreque quest series alongside this event to get the most out of it and prepare for River of Blood. The Lost Toys | Vampyre Plushie Hunting Talk to Lex in the pub in Canifis to begin. You must have at least completed the Myreque quest In Search of the Myreque for Lex and the plushies to appear. Dreadful rumours are circulating about 13 possessed plushie toys that are waiting to be discovered across Morytania! Get clues to the locations of each of these by talking to Lex in the pub in Canifis. Some plushies are located in areas you visit in Myreque-quests, so play through the series or revisit them to pick them up! Each plushie can be squeezed to hear its unique and demonic personality and also to receive a shiny columbarium key, so be sure to have your headphones switched on! Return all 13 plushies to Lex to complete this part of the event and earn a special, cosmetic surprise. Memorial to the Myreque | Early Bird Bonus Talk to Veliaf north of the Canifis lodestone. You must have completed all of the Myreque quest series up to and including Lord of Vampyrium to begin building the memorial. The brave Veliaf needs your help to build a memorial to remember the sacrifices that precede River of Blood. Gather materials, construct the monument and every day you can build a new statue to each of the 10 fallen Myreque heroes that it depicts. You will earn Construction XP for building each of these statues as well as Prayer XP when you complete each one by adorning it with an object of reverence. Return and talk to Veliaf each day to add a new statue. You can also receive an early bird bonus of more than 100,000 XP in total if you complete all 10 statues on the memorial between now and 23:59 on 30 April. This XP will be given across the Skills that receive XP rewards in all the Myreque quests so far. Note that you also have the option to reject being awarded any combat XP from this early bird bonus, should you wish to. Ravenous Ghouls | New Crypt| Congealed Blood – useful quest item A new ghoulish crypt has been added north-west of the Canifis lodestone with a new enemy type, the high-level ravenous ghoul. Ravenous ghouls might not prove to be too daunting when fought one-on-one, but with the release of River of Blood you will be able to awaken a greater bloodlust in them by equipping the upcoming pocket-slot items... Many creatures around Morytania (but especially this new one) now have a chance to drop Congealed Blood – an item that will be used with the rewards for River of Blood. Graphical Updates to Morytania | Storyline Recaps| Patch Notes Paterdomus temple and Canifis have been graphically updated. 22. This week, God Wars Dungeon 2 finally opens its doors. Take part in the continued grudge match of four gods that is raging beneath Gielinor. Defeat the generals and earn some fantastic rewards. You can also download some fantastic God Wars Dungeon 2 wallpapers from our official Flickr account, check them out and have fun! What’s going on in the Heart of Gielinor? God Wars Dungeon 2 is an epic battleground located deep beneath the sands of the Kharidian desert at a place called the Heart of Gielinor. It is a place where the factions of 4 gods are doing battle. They fight not just for their own vicious rivalries but to claim the precious Anima Mundi source that lies in the dungeon’s depths. Where is the Anima Mundi being channelled? Why would Seren, Sliske, Zaros and Zamorak risk so much to battle here? All will be revealed in time but your best bet is to start here… What to do in the dungeon The dungeon is a mid-to-high level combat area, focussed strongly on boss battles against the generals who are leading their troops through the dungeon chambers. In order to fight the bosses, you must raise your kill count to the required amount and enter the boss rooms. Special kill multipliers can be activated to boost your progress and your kill count will carry over between logins. You don’t just have to fight bosses. You can also help factions capture control points dotted throughout the dungeon. In doing so you’ll earn the ability to summon in your own powerful allies to fight alongside you. How to Start This content is for RuneScape members only. The dungeon entrance is located in the Kharidian desert, west of Nardah, north of the agility pyramid. The first area you enter will contain representatives from the various factions within the dungeon. Performing tasks and handing in objects found within the dungeon will earn reputation with these factions. Accumulated reputation unlocks access to unique rewards. Requirements There are no requirements for entering God Wars Dungeon 2 but each boss fight has a level requirement as follows: Helwyr (Seren’s general) – 80 MagicThe Twin Furies (Zamorak’s general) – 80 RangedVindicta & Gorvek (Zaros’s general) – 80 AttackGregorovic (Sliske’s general) – 80 Prayer. Rewards & Reputation Firstly, defeated bosses have the chance to drop non-wearable dormant armour pieces and their faction’s crest. Combine the crest and a dormant armour piece to create a piece of wearable, non-degrading, level 80 armour. Wearable armour can then be upgraded to degradable level 85 armour with essence gained from the bosses. Each boss’s armour suits a particular discipline - melee (Zaros), ranged (Zamorak), magic (Seren) and hybrid (Sliske). Secondly, defeated bosses will also drop a weapon with tier 80 damage and 90 accuracy. The other key reward mechanic for God Wars Dungeon 2 is reputation - a measure of your standing with each faction. Accumulate reputation to unlock the ability to purchase a wealth of special rewards from reputation vendors located near the dungeon entrance. Some rewards are useful, some cosmetic, and some just for fun! You can gain reputation by:Killing a faction-aligned enemy to collect Ingression fragments. Summon reinforcements with these fragments to generate reputation.Killing a boss and gaining their seal which can be handed into any of their rival factionsWorking for Feng the Bounty Master - he assigns bounties to kill members of a certain faction in order to gain reputation with a faction of your choice. He can assign one bounty a day but these will stack up to 5 if you miss them for a few daysYou can max out your reputation with all the factions, you don’t have to align yourself with one in particular. This allows you to be as much of a mercenary as you want! Amongst the reputation benefits (which we will let you discover) will be the ability to upgrade the weapons and armour that defeated bosses drop. That just about covers the basics of God Wars Dungeon 2. We hope you have fun in this fantastic new combat area! This week’s live streams Each week we stream developer Q&As, in-game events and more. They will however still need to complete both puzzles to successfully disassemble the machine after the event for the post-event reward. Players can now use the tutorial popups for the Flight of the Butterflies Treasure Hunter promotion in legacy mode. Animated puzzle boxes now scramble upon initially opening the puzzle box much more consistently. Other Members now have access to another bank booster for free from Solomon’s General Store. Members will receive 6 free keepsake keys in their bank when they next log in. Reclaiming a fully charged non-superior scrimshaw from a gravestone will no longer cause it to vanish. Removed the energised arm cannons from being listed in a Grand Exchange search. If player logs out or is kicked from the group during a Yakamaru encounter, any planks they were carrying will be dropped to the ground. Players can no longer bring weapons and armour to Entrana by using a legendary pet’s beast of burden ability. Removed the "pl" item from the Grand Exchange. 24. Behind the Scenes – February 2016 Our quest this month is all about Nomad, and he has been a very, very, naughty man… You’ll find yourself in the Underworld, leading an army of the undead, reuniting with old friends thought lost to Death’s touch, and laying siege to Nomad’s fortress as you try to stop another of his power-hungry schemes. Be prepared for one of the toughest fights yet, making your first experiences with Nomad feel like a walk in the park. The rewards are pretty sexy too, especially the new devices, including one that has the power to increase the XP you earn for teleporting Urns. Requiring “Dishonour Among Thieves’” and “The Mighty Fall” to complete, this continuing storyline was one of the lore highlights of last year and is a critical part of the 6th age. It is the first of four quests that will bring about the conclusion of Sliske’s Countdown… so get involved! Requirements RuneScape members only You must have completed the quests “Dishonour Among Thieves”, “The Mighty Fall”, “The Void Stares Back”, “Nomad’s Requiem”, “Throne of Miscellania” and “Heart of Stone.” You must have Level 75 in the following skills: Woodcutting. Mining. Construction. A high combat-level and good gear are highly recommended. The God Scoreboard Speaking of Sliske, he’s as hungry for attention as always and is slamming down his intentions for all to see. In a cruel parody of the Edicts of Guthix, the god he killed at the end of the 5th age, he’s embedded a massive sword in the centre of the Grand Exchange, acting as a giant scoreboard for tracking the antics of the gods. To get your attention, he’s spread “Sliskelion” pieces around the game-world. These can be earned while you train, and you can cash them in at the sword for some decent XP rewards. The sword will be removed at the conclusion of his vicious game, so don’t hang about in finding those elusive pieces! GameBlast | Double XP weekend The 26th of February is a great time of year to commit to an entire weekend of playing RuneScape. It’s cold and windy outside for most of us, there are great opportunities in game to make money for a fantastic charity, and a double XP weekend to enjoy! It’s the perfect time to get in game! The double XP boost will last all weekend, and during the week we’ll have our “Time to Train” promotion running, filling Treasure Hunter with all the useful training and skilling items you love to win. Alongside the double XP weekend, we’ll be running GameBlast, a 24-hour livestream event, entertaining you with a digital cacophony of activity, with special guests, famous streamers, challenges, crazy events and generally making a fool of ourselves. Gameblast is all about raising money for Special Effect - an amazing charity who help people with disabilities to enjoy playing games just like ours. We’re also bringing back the Well of Goodwill so you can donate your in-game wealth and bonds to the charity, which we convert to real cash. You can also buy some special in-game cosmetic items too, courtesy of Solomon’s General Store, so keep an eye out for those! It really is lots of fun, all for a wonderful cause! RuneMetrics RuneMetrics is an amazing new in-game feature that gives you access to a huge variety of advanced tracking tools. It shows you stats, graphs and additional website features to help you understand all the ins and outs of what your character is doing. This feature really helps you to understand and experiment with your gear, running onscreen, updating as you train, working out the best possible XP, damage and wealth rates and analyzing what you’re doing, all of the time! There’s advanced XP tracking including an ETA to your next level up. There is also an amazing drop log that tracks everything you’ve gained through combat, as well as damage calculators giving you your total damage EVER and your average damage per minute, and plenty more on top! Many of these features are free, but if you’re the sort of player that wants ALL THE STATS and access to advanced tools that allow you to look at historical data, you’ll be able to spend a bond per month for the complete package. Gold Premier Club members get all the features for free for the first 2 weeks, and half price for the rest of the year. Invention 1.1 and 1.2 Keeping true to our promises about the new skill, we’re releasing more content for you to invent and experiment with this month, and we’re working on important tweaks and fixes based on your feedback so far. We’re adding tools like the crystal pickaxe and hatchet to the list of items you can augment and adding a bunch of perks for skilling via the shiny augmentation table. Perks include “not emptying resource locations when you gain resources”, consuming resources for XP and plenty more. Zodiac Event | Chinese New Year From the success that was last year’s Death Lotus Training, get stuck into our new Zodiac event for Chinese New Year 2016. The Zodiac event, which gives you a checklist of time-sensitive tasks that you can complete for great rewards, including the dragon zodiac costume. As with last year’s event, you can complete the list multiple times for even better rewards, and use stamps to auto complete any tasks you really don’t want to do. Bumper Podcast | Seren, a song, and community helpers Welcome to the bumper new RuneScape podcast, absolutely packed with content. This week, listen in for Mod Osborne taking to Lore Corner for a chat about Seren; Mod MattHe talking to Mod Krista about her favourite piece of RuneScape music, and finally for Mod Infinity sitting down with Player Support JMods to talk about all our Community Helper initiatives. Listen now on YouTube, PodBean or iTunes. In other news… Our Ninjas have been sneaking about again, this time focussing their attention on some old favourites and on the free game. God books will be able to be worn in the pocket slot and will give bonuses to all combat styles. (Even more so if it’s an illuminated god book.) You’ll also be able to charge up your god book by consuming pages, with fully charged books able to unleash a special attack themed around that specific god’s lieutenant, like Commander Zilyana’s lightning-cloud attack if you’re using the Saradomin book. It’s seriously cool. You told us that in the free game, you’d love a way to sell your members’ items to help you buy bonds, so we’re adding it! We are also giving free players a taste of bossing by adding the giant mole and the KBD to their choices in combat, adding some combat abilities to help with your combat rotations, and even adding dual wielding. RuneLabs | Vote now for Eastern Lands content! Recently, you’ve voted in game for us to finally take you to the Eastern Lands! This is something I am particularly excited about, and we would now love to hear your ideas on the sort of content you’d like to experience out there. Whether it’s a quest, a skilling update, a minigame, a d+d… anything themed around these mysterious lands - we want to know about it! Take your creative juices straight to RuneLabs and post, or simply “up vote” some of the current ideas to let us know what you like. Treasure Hunter | Valentine’s Event 2016 On Treasure Hunter this month we’re bringing back the Valentine’s event. This time we’re giving you the chance to win petals that unlock all the previous rewards and funky new costumes and items, including the charming masquerade outfits, a goblin butler pet and the Sceptre of Enchantment, which can be charged with petals and gives everyone around you an XP boost! 25. Invention is finally here and the tech-level of Gielinor is about to be pushed through the roof! Get in game today and begin augmenting your gear and discovering perks with this brand-new elite skill. Requirements You must be Level 80 in Divination, Smithing and Crafting. Where to start Go to the Guild of Inventors north of Falador and speak to Doc to begin your own journey of discovery. What’s Invention all about? Invention is all about changing the way you approach RuneScape and the challenges of Gielinor. It’s about augmenting and modifying your gear, adding perks that give new dimensions and possibilities. Build sets of gear that are truly your own, and finally overcome those tricky bosses by inventing items that give you a real advantage - it’s all to play for! How about a weapon that you’ve modified to deal extra damage to demons? What about armour that has a small chance of reducing received damage to just 1? Or how about a mysterious enhanced chinchompa that has dramatically increased destructive power (and cuteness)? Train the skill by disassembling your unwanted items and experimenting with their constituent materials at an Invention workbench. This is the core of Invention - discovering an ever-increasing number of special perks, adding them to your items and creating new ways to quest, skill and fight through Gielinor. As you use your augmented gear, it’ll accrue its own XP, levelling in its own right. You’ll find this to be beneficial as you make more discoveries and train Invention further. As you level up the skill, you’ll be able to branch out into specialisations, determining which type of tech you learn first. Will you prioritise Dwarven inventions, or do the volatile designs of the Goblin tech branch appeal more to your sensibilities? It’s up to you! It’s also a skill that’s about looking good. Ever been jealous of that adventurer with the impressively grand leg armour? Well now you can make your own EVEN BETTER leg armour, with spinning cogs and flashing lights and some strange side-effect that you can’t quite put your finger on… New inventions will be added to the game for you to discover each month this year, as part of major updates. There’ll be several bigger batches of Invention content, too. Keep an eye on the news for further updates. But for now, we can’t wait to see what you come up with, and to see you blazing a trail up the hiscores. To the workbench! You can check out the full patch notes for the update on the forum thread.
