Hello Tip.it forum! I am fairly new to this forum but a Runescape veteran with 9 years of gameplay. Everyone hates bots, can we agree on that? Today I wanted to grab some wine of zamorak in the good old castle but I noticed one guy, all levels 1's except magic which was fairly high for him, 60 or 70. I thought: farewell, maybe he is just a pure or something and world hopped. Then, almost the same levels as the last guy there's this new guy with even higher magic level, but a similar name. I got it, they were bots. And so I started scanning a few worlds and noticed more bots with a similar name. Under further inspecting they do the same movement which is the following: 1. They teleport to Taverley after their inventory is full. 2. When they run back they run past the Zamorak church and stay there for a while, then run towards the table. 3. After they are where they have to be, they log out and log back in. I have noted down some usernames I am 100% sure they are bots. Their levels are 1's or very low and magic super high and their reflexes are very bot-like. Also, they all do the movement I explained above. Someone just has very many computers running with the same script. Removed names - Steph All those bots were in different worlds at the same time 10 minutes ago. See how the usernames have *number*word*number* in them? Now I have reported all the bots before and I reported them now too, but I guess Jagex won't do anything about them because it's not the first time I see such script running. My question to you guys is - can someone get contact with a Jagex employee? Or can someone show this thread to anyone who can do something about this? Thank you! Dan

Thread escalation plz. =D> "Give me something to believe in 'Cause I don't believe in you anymore, anymore I wonder if it even makes a difference to try Yeah, so this is goodbye" ~ "Makes Me Wonder", Maroon 5 As some of you may have known, my main account, Mister Sonic, was banned yesterday due to being falsely accused of "macro goldfarming". However, the fact that I don't even use something as simple as mousekeys pretty much means I have never touched a bot in my life. This really made me wonder, what circumstances had happened that caused me to receive the permanent ban? It just doesn't make sense, someone with a 0 blackmark history shouldn't be instantaneously skyrocketing to permban status. So I came up with a bunch of crackpot theories... 1. Jagex did a massive IP sweep for those living in the China region. As we all know, China is infamous for its gold selling on many MMORPG's everywhere, with even more crackpot theories like 24/7 sweatshops or farming on 8 accounts at once. Unfortunately most IP's in China are shared (ever wonder how the Great Firewall of No Facebook/Youtube/Twitter stopped nearly everyone in China from accessing those sites?), and I happen to share an IP from a gold farmer near my region. 2. Jagex may presumably be undergoing another experimental mass-ban which caught a few innocents along the way. Remember the repeatedly spying on a penguin glitch? Which caused like half the community to be banned? I'm thinking that something similar to this is happening to Botany Bay. And somehow, just somehow, I accidentally got caught in the net. 3. Jagex focuses on heavily botted training areas first. Well, the 2 days before I got banned, I was trying to get 89 mining at LRC, which just so happens to have MILLIONS of bots training together at the same time. Probably a WBM or someone similar decided to do a report sweep of everyone he/she sees at the botting site. --- Of course, these are just all theoretical WMG's (Wild Mass Guesses, que TVTropes :3). Seeing how I got banned in the most senseless way, one really gets suspicious of what REALLY goes around when Jagex said they have an "improved" bot detection system. Because if it starts tripping up some false positives, there is already a mechanical flaw in the system. Thoughts? Agree or disagree? You can pass me off as being a whiny permbanned noob, I don't really mind :P

So. A blog made by Alg. This can't possibly end well, but here it is. Now with 18% more banner. So I'm actually playing the game, and against my better judgment I came out of it with some goals. Simple enough things, almost all long-term since I'm a damn casual. But now they're recorded in such a way that I'll remember to do them when I feel like it, rather than just bankstanding all day while writing terrible fanfiction. I should also probably mention that I don't actually know how blogging works BUT ANYWAY Here's what I have. For 2014: 99s: Ports: "But Alg, what about Hunter?" Nope. Not happening. Never. Other: - Overloads without boosts - Reclaim 80 cape - Dat spear - Adze ensues - Because why not? A couple that don't justify a signature: 90 WC 95 Prayer [spoiler=2013's goals!] I'm not as ambitious as the rest of the board, as you can see. No comp capes or partyhats or what-have-you. But there are these. 99s. The reasonable ones. All completed Ports. The unreasonable ones. Smithing ended at 83/90 Crafting ended at 86/90 RC ended, at 81/90 Slayer was completed! And now for the fun stuff. Note: "Fun" is a relative term. [spoiler=Other things] And a category that will be updated considerably more often than the others! [spoiler=Reasons I'm not accomplishing any of these']Two words: Nuzlocke Challenge The stars are not yet aligned. ATLA. Tip.it has created something that is likely the most useful thing I've ever seen (for this era of Runescape, anyway) in terms of discussing Jagex and their intentions, acitvity, and their financial goals. My opinion may vary from yours, of course, so take that first line with some Morton's :D. Anyway, I had come across and contributed to a few topics regarding Jagex's finances, bots in general, membership and microtransactions. A small part of it was the bots, but I think at this point I could start a separate post for it. Here's a pic of Tip.it's http://open.tip.it/high-score-stats Check the dates on it for references on when my pic was taken And one of the last 24 hours' updated graph: What I said when I posted the first picture originally: The most recent "bot bust" would be the 730k-ish accounts removed from the hiscores as shown on the 2nd picture. Aside from that, drop-off points currently show about 150k players removed from the hiscores. The peak number of players on hiscores in the first picture is about 1500k~. Again, on the 2nd picture, the peak is a flatline 2M+ accounts available to be shown on the hiscores (the limit is 2M period). As I thought, and still assume, Jagex is banning only what is absolutely necessary, and over the past 3 months they have allowed at least 200k accounts by based on the lowest drops on each pic. Of course, not every account there is a bot, but I don't think I'd believe 200,000 new NON-BOT players have subscribed to Runescape in the last 3 months.. Beyond all this jibber-jabber and opinionated bullcrap I've posted is some actual info. What is Tip.it's forum users' take on it, and how do you feel about the situation(s) involving bots? Edit: sorry for the messed up pics/urls. Haven't used Tif in a long while, and this new crap is bugging out on me.

Post on the RuneScape Official Forums: Post link: http://[Use Quick Find Code]/a=13/c=rQ9jd8I5x3A/sl=0/[Please Use QuickFind Code]?14,15,968,65539489 Due the recent rise of claims of 'false' bans, with a few cases been an actual false ban, Mod Kelvin (who wrote the post above) felt the need to address the issue. For many fellow runescapers, the main issue was the 'thick wall' that exists for people to appeal a ban the core of the issue and wanted more direct contact with Jagex. As a result, the above post appeared earlier today. Now I am wanting to hear the opinions of the people who visit these forums with their stance on this matter. I have seen some posts here and there about it and on the forums and other off-sites it is really a hot topic. [spoiler=Reminder of the Forum Rules regarding bots] 1.1 - Breaking or encouraging others to break any of Jagex's rules Violating Jagex's official RuneScape Rules on this forum is cause for being permanently banned from the Tip.it forums. This includes but is not limited to:Unapproved 3rd Party Clients and Rulebreaking Content on Outgoing links are not permitted. This includes but is not limited to:Admitting to violating any RuneScape Rules or encouraging others to violate themDiscussing how to cheat, hack, or otherwise manipulate the gameSelling signatures, images, or other intellectual property for Runescape GoldDiscussion of private servers--inviting, advertising, or otherwiseDiscussion of and / or using unapproved third party software (keyloggers, trojans, unapproved game clients) to gain unfair advantagesThe approved 3rd Party Clients are:Links to downloads or hosting sites for unapproved 3rd party clientsPrograms that manipulate the RuneScape cache (pictures of the cache are permitted so long as they do not discuss how they were obtained)Links to sites that contain physical content that violates RuneScape Rules in any way, shape, or formSites that contain advertisements linking to other rulebreaking sites are permitted with the understanding that these are not a part of the website's content and there is limited control that site owners have over such advertisements. These clients may be discussed and linked to at will, but there are no other exceptions and we are not accepting any "submissions" for approved 3rd Party Clients. The following list of activities/groups may not be explicitly against RuneScape Rules, but Tip.It has taken a stance against them and they are not permitted on our forum. We are disallowing them because they are either against the spirit of the game, or have a high risk of involving scams. General discussions about them are okay, but advertisements are not permitted. This rule applies to:SwiftKitDGSweeperLuring a player from a safe zone to a PvP zone (included, but not limited to: wilderness, dangerous clan wars, etc.)Price manipulation clansTrust trades are permitted so long as the person organizing the trust trade is the person assuming the risk

So i got banned for botting. Then I got unbanned after 10 tweets, 1 ambler, and one response. GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG Hiya, I'm Solemn, but my friends call me Tyler! I started my adventure as Axelzjr in 2005, I've made many friends, most leave and very few stick around. I've always came back to Runescape as a way to socialize and even vent at times. My first few years I never played efficiently ( efficiency, wut is this?), and so I've played catch up on a few skills after returning to the game in May of 2012. I enjoy anime, FPS, RPGs, board games, and skyping!

We recently introduced the next phase of our anti-bot technology Botwatch, and it's already showing its teeth in the battle against botting activity in RuneScape. Last night alone, we conducted a mass ban of no less than 20,000 gold farming accounts. This is a huge blow against gold farming, and you should see the difference in game right away. These new anti-bot systems aren’t limited to gold farmers, however - users of 3rd party clients and botting software are also being aggressively targeted by the newly updated Botwatch. Of course, this is just one victory in the ongoing war against botting. Our zero-tolerance policy stands, and we won't rest while botting and gold-farming exists in your game. It's an ever-evolving race, but with hard work and the support of the community, we'll stay well ahead of the game. We're already working on the next phase of anti-bot tech, which we're looking forward to rolling out over the coming months. The RuneScape Team ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I checked a few common spots last night when I heard about this, and frost dragons and green/blue were both almost completely clear. Seems like it's had at least some impact. Hopefully it won't be something that'll get overturned in two weeks (and not just because I have 300k frosties :P)
