Ironman ModeOctober 13 2014 Ironman Mode Ironman mode is finally here. Never before have you seen a challenge like it in RuneScape. No help from other players; if you're an ironman, you are on your own. Creating an ironman or ultimate ironman account When creating new accounts, players will be able to find two NPCs on tutorial island and enable ironman mode or ultimate ironman mode on their account. These two NPCs, Paul and Adam, can be found just outside of the Magic Instructor's house at the very end of tutorial island. If you wish to become an ironman, you will be asked to set a bank PIN when enabling ironman mode as a way to protect your account and prevent hijackers disabling your ironman mode. You will be faced with the above screen after talking with either Adam or Paul. If the "permanent" option is enabled you will never be able to disable ironman mode. It is not possible to become an ironman on an account that has completed tutorial island. It is also not possible to become an ultimate ironman from an ironman account. Keep this in mind, there is no going back once you leave Tutorial Island! Ironman rules/limitations After enabling ironman mode on your account you will have a number of restrictions in place. No trading other playersNo picking up drops from other players (including PvP drops)No PvP XP (spell casting experience, splashing, is still gained)Cannot see monster loot if you did not do 100% of the damageAuto aid button locked to offCannot enter other players POH or have players enter their own POH.Cannot buy items from other players through shopsCannot use fishing trawlerUnable to receive items from the party room balloon dropNo staking (dueling is still possible)Players can only use solo nightmare zone and the shop will not sell you resources. Additional ultimate ironman rules/limitations Ultimate ironman accounts will have the following limitations in addition to the standard ironman limitations. Cannot access bankWhen dying you lose all your items It will be possible for ultimate ironman mode accounts to "downgrade" to standard ironman mode accounts if they wish. They can do this by talking to Adam or Paul in Lumbridge. Ironman hiscores Both ironman mode and ultimate ironman mode will have their own dedicated hiscores. This will be a great way to see who the best of the best are. If you no longer wish to go on as an ironman and convert to a standard account, your efforts as an ironman will not be lost. Your stats on the hiscores will be frozen and they will remain for as long as your account exists! Ironman armour You'll be able to identify ironman and ultimate ironman accounts by their unique armour (with both modes having their own set of armour). These sets of armour have the stats of iron armour and, when lost, can be claimed back from the tutors in Lumbridge. Ironman armour Ultimate ironman armour Abandoning ironman mode Ironman mode is an incredibly challenging way to play the game and, for some, they may see the progress they have made on an ironman account and think "hey, this is better than my main" or "I would really love to be able to sell my 17 Armadyl hilts". This is why we will be allowing players to opt-out of ironman mode. You will be able to find Adam and Paul in Lumbridge if you want to revert to a standard account. This will require a bank PIN and will take 7 days to be confirmed. If you become a standard account, you will lose your ironman armour set and your stats in the ironman hiscores will be frozen. In other news... Mod Ash has re-vamped the bank PIN system to make it much more responsive.Items that need to be traded between players during quests can now be used on other players to transfer them.Some bankspace checks have been amended to support Ultimate Iron Man accounts. Hello fellow TIFers, I am new to this "blogging" stuff so any tips are appreciated. My account as of right now is a Level 4 F2P DIY skiller. Why have i chosen such a strange account to make you may ask? Well while the 2007 Servers have came out I loved that era of this game we all enjoy, but I refuse to pay as I have always liked the F2P part of the game more that is why i have chosen a DIY type of account, I'll explain this later. Also this new "EOC" update has ruined combat for me and I don't believe that I will be combating unless I have a sudden urge to do some Dungeoneering. Pure F2P; When I first began my RuneScape journey back in 06-07 I honestly had no idea that there even was a P2P part of the game, therefore I was always a F2P account and I quickly loved this part of the game, my first account wasn't very successful as I only knew about goblins and cows for the longest time. After getting fed up with these two NPCs I quit. Shortly after I was over a friends house and noticed that he was playing RuneScape so I decided to play again still staying F2P, I quickly learned a lot from my friend and after completing every F2P quest I learned about Skillers, I made my first skiller and i was hooked, I've made tons of F2P skillers but never tried a DIY. Pure F2P means never having access to any P2P aspects of the game. DIY; Stands for Do It Yourself. I know many people are thinking why would you want to do this when the Grand Exchange has made the game extremely easy? I never thought that the Grand Exchange was a fantastic update, yes it has made skilling and such a lot easier but to each his own I suppose. Being a DIY account is tough in many ways no trading other players using mostly shops or making your own tools for use, with this DIY type account I will also be playing a bit in an old school way, using mostly old school methods, no Bonfires, Artisans, or RuneSpan. I will be posting screenshots daily of my stats and total experience, I hope everyone enjoys reading through and viewing my progress any questions or tips would be appreciated and thank you for viewing. :)

I went home, made an account, and that is when it all started.... My first days as a player I got lost in Lumby, i don't really remember how I managed that. My main source of income was killing cows to sell Cow Hides to other players. I remember keeping one inventory slot open so i could kill goblins and get 10 gp for the toll. This was for getting into Al Kharid. Greetings! I just got back to playing runescape 3 weeks ago from being a newbie. I saved up 10m for this thing they call "bond" now it has an option to "change character name" or become a "member" and getting "runecoins" right? I was wondering, I logged on to runescape website then it says there i can only change my character name if im a member. If i use the bond for 14 day membership will i still be allowed to change my character name? or not? from, mr. boomtastic

My Story I'm new here and just working up my skills a little bit currently alching. I'll keep posting in this thread through out my adventure. I'm 15 years old living in Chicago on and off in RS since 2008, but I've gotten back in to it and really liking it. If you want to chat or what ever just add me, skildmexican. I started playing RS back in easter 08 when I was young and just a noob running around thinking I was good with mith armour. It took me about 3 years to get good and actually understand and get good at rs but right at that time I was hacked on my original account which I really miss and that was in the summer of 09. I took a little hiatus of runescape until 2011 and then another and I'm back again but with a new account with a fresh start and really enjoying it even with eoc kind of screwing with my mind (i would rather have it non eoc), but what ever im learning already. Sports Sports are kind of a really big part of my life and I have been doing them since I was little. I started with soccer when I was about 7, then basketball in 5th grade and really liked it, running (not really just on my cross country team and with my mom), and mountain biking with my dad. I'm starting not to like basketball and and soccer very much any more and might just go to full time CC Mountain Biking and Running. I'm not that good at basketball compared to who I compete with and soccer has just been getting boring. :sad: Running is just awesome and I love pushing my self to the limits and training hard for such a feeling of accomplishment when I finish or break a time, which is probably why I like RS so much also. :) Mountain Biking is just a great sport and gives you so much rush. I've gotten really good and my dads even gotten me on a team with an awesome coach whos been helping me so much. So yeah, thats sports which has been a big part of my life. :grin: Music I love music quite a bit and there isn't really much to say but I listen to it when doing anything, (especially RS). I mostly like and listen to: U2, Depeche Mode, Metallica, Band of Horses, Sting, The Police, Tool, and some times rap and dubstep. With dubstep I'll just go to youtube and listen to some mixes so I don't really know any names of dubstep, but I do like Flux Pavillion, Bassnectar, Skrillex, and a few more I can't name off the top of my head. (I don't know my dubstep :-|) Television While skilling, or just bored I reavolly like to watch TV. I like a lot of Anime, my favorites which of being Fullmetal Alchemist btw Brotherhood FTW!! Although both have ended for a while I still love it and very big fan. Inuyasha, the first anime I watched very good and still a very big fan. Bleach, awesome show, not much to say, Naruto, awesome show. Dragon Ball Z, I haven't really watched it in a while but when I did I loved, really action packed and awesome fight scenes. Last but definitely not least One Piece. Yep, I like anime, not much to say.... I also really love Flap Jack no matter how creepy and weird it is, and how it got canceled for being so weird, I still love you Bubby! :wub: Beside cartoons, I like to watch The Office, 30 Rock, How I met your mother, Parks and Recreation, It's always sunny, Family Guy (a cartoon, my mistake :blink:), Bob's Burgers, Home Movies, Futurama, and King of the Hill. My skills as of June 10, 2013 As of now, my lowest level is Dungeoneering which I'm working pretty hard on right now. I'm not really good at it so if somebody can add me and just give me some pointers or help, that be awesome. :D My Goals 1.I want to get all my combat skills to 60+ and magic 75, currently alching the crap out addy kites slowly and slowly which has level me quite a bit. Prayer needs to get up to 50. 2. To get all my F2P skills to 70, besides Woodcutting. Woodcutting I want to get to 80 and FMing to 90 :grin:. 3. Dungeoneering to 55 and if I get the hang of it, 60+ Outfit My all around outfit, what you'll see running around in, and it's also my only out fit (:. Alright well thats it guys! :wink:

F2P Trial Expansion Quick find code: 380-381-1-65435439 We all have the same aims for Old School, we want a vibrant and active community as well as a stable game to play. We both believe that F2P has a part to play in achieving this which is why we are opening the F2P trial to players who have not had membership for 90 days. As we mentioned when we first spoke about this in the ‘Bots & F2P’ dev blog in May, our biggest risk with F2P are players unsubscribing and playing the F2P game. If the revenue generated by Old School starts to suffer because of this there is the possibility of support for it being allocated elsewhere which in turn will mean less updates. This is something that neither you nor we want. A successful game is something that both you and we want. This is why in May we opened F2P on a trial basis for new users. When we launched the trial we were looking at two things, how will the bots behave and will the new accounts decide to go to F2P and either become members 2 weeks later than they would normally do or not subscribe at all. Bots When we released the F2P trial we did see a sudden glut of bots join all with the intention of farming yews and selling the proceeds. However, it seems they hadn’t read the dev blog properly as we mentioned we would disable yew trees for the trial. We saw a huge amount of accounts with level 60 woodcutting standing around scratching their heads just before we banned them. The graph below shows the amount of unique bots in Old School. As you can see after an initial peak over the first couple of weeks, the bots in game have remained stable and at a very manageable amount. This led us to the conclusion that F2P without the yew trees was not going to increase the bot population. With the added improvements in the bot hunting processes we have, we are seeing that 75% of gold farming accounts are banned within 48 hours of being created so bots are more under control now than ever. New accounts One of the things we wanted to answer with the F2P trial was how the subscribing behaviour would change for new accounts. When the F2P trial launched we immediately saw a reduction of about 30% in new accounts becoming members. However, this was more than made up by new accounts entering the trial and then becoming members leaving us with a net gain which has allowed Old School to grow in members every day since the trial came out. The trial has been a success in regards to extra members it has bought to the community. The F2P to P2P conversion rate we have seen is as good as Runescape has ever had in the last 5 years. The average subscriber played Old School for around 23 hours before becoming a member and as you can see from the graph below 90% of players who subscribed, did so before the 11th day of the trial. Due to the strong conversion rate and that most players are subbing well before the end of the trial, we have no plans to extend the trial for a longer period of time or offer a F2P version where you have access to it permanently. We think that giving permanent access to F2P will cause more members to unsubscribe without bringing any noticeable increase in new members which does help delivering what we are all aiming for; a vibrant and active community to support the stability of Old School. We know that for some of you the prospect of a permanent F2P system which is similar to how it was in 2007 is appealing and you will be disappointed that we are not heading in that direction. However, it is important to realise that the commercial environment has changed hugely in the last seven years and revenue streams such as adverts bring in a fraction of what they did back in the day. The next steps One thing that did surprise us with the trial is that there were a significant amount of players who created new accounts, played them for a bit and then subscribed an existing account. These are returning players who went to the trouble of making a free account and then realising that they were enjoying themselves and then making their main account a member again. Clearly, the next step to take in this trial is to remove the barriers for returning players so they can access the trial on their main accounts. So, from the 24th July until the 28th of August, any account which has not been a member for 90 days will be able to access the F2P servers for 2 weeks. This will be in addition to the trial continuing to work for new accounts. While this second part of the trial is ongoing, we will be analysing the results to see how things go. In a similar fashion to the new account trial, we will be monitoring how returning players subscribe and what changes this trial will have on them. Once we have the data we need from this trial, we can look at what the next step will be. How you can help With the trial opening up for returning members this gives a great opportunity to get in touch with past Old School players. We were told by a lot of you that some of your friends didn’t want to come back and start a new account and this is the ideal opportunity to let them know that now they can. For all the clans out there, we will be allowing you to update your member lists in the clan cup if you want to invite some old clan mates to fight for you in the F2P clan cups. Let’s get some impressive turn outs which will help push clans forward and show everyone what excitement you can get. We hope to see a lot of players take advantage of this opportunity and to help even more, we are leaving the summer special offer of 25% off 3 months of membership open until the 28th July. So, they can get a good deal on their membership too. At the end of the day, the more success we have with the trials, the bigger and better the community will become. For the past week I've been grinding Dungeoneering floors for a few hours each day trying to get this drop (it's the last journal I need and I don't care about getting any actual dg levels anymore, so I decided why not). Wikia says that it should drop from monsters and bosses every 6 floors (that would put it at floors 25-30), an older RSOF thread said every 4 or low Furnished floors (so that would be 17-20; I didn't add these to my rotation until a few days ago). To make it faster, two days ago I started C1'ing the floors, but still no luck. My fear is that I'm doing the wrong floors (given the varying information) and wasting a ton of time. If someone happens to remember the specific floor they got it on I would love that information so I can grind that single floor over and over with confidence that it'll eventually drop. EDIT: For any future people that stumble upon this... I gave up after a few more hours. I feel like the most unlucky person in the world and didn't want to spend another 100 hours (yes, I literally wasted this much time just trying to get this one page) without the guarantee of getting the drop.
