Do you actully collect your own raw materials?

The only things I collect myself are a few of the herblore 2nds, they're too expensive to just go and buy when they aren't even hard to get lol :P

 

But for my smithing, rcing, firemaking (my kingdom collects my logs), cooking and many other lvls I only collect my own materials every once in a while when I just feel like it :P

I try to get my own materials, but one of my favourite skills is farming. Anyone who says they got 99 farming collecting their own seeds is bullsitting in my humble. :

95% of my skills are self gathered...of course i didnt catch 6k seaweed or 2k pineapples for compost...but even then...its quite a feat that im proud of.

depends what mood i am in, i do try to be self suficient. but no way was i gonna collect the bones i have banked for 99 prayer, and the logs i have for 99 fm came from mtk.

 

i did get 99 theif without buying a single piece of food(used cakes and lobbies).

I don't have 99 Herblore yet, but I have collected (including Farming, killing NPCs and MTK) about half of my Herblore supplies. It's definitely possible to get 99 on yourself, though it will take a lot of time.

Definately not. I can make about 400-500k an hour with my RC lvl. I highly doubt I could save 400-500k an hour collecting any type of raw material by myself as opposed to buying it.

I'm pretty much a do-it yourselfer most of the time.

 

I just can't stand buying or selling stuff to non-npcs in this game.

 

These "merchants" are just a bunch of stuck-up, snivelers that know nothing more than intimidation and arrogance to horde rs gp for their retirement or something :roll: .

 

 

 

Of course, I'm not that great at the buyable skills.

 

Some are near impossible until recently.

 

 

 

99 Magic, most of the xp came from runes I made. Did pc a the few of the end levels when pc came out.

 

90 Crafting is all mine from battlestaffing, and jewlry.

 

99 Prayer I bought around half from dbones, the rest I got myself shade burning, zogre killing, dragon killing myself, and pest control.

 

86 Farming, I relied on manage the kingdom and slayer drops, since thieving seeds is so slow. Also, go a few levels when I grew stuff for a rich friend trying to level herblore. Implings are making me think 99 could be possible.

 

79 Herblore, I've pretty much collected every herb I ever made, and can never seem to the sell the pots, so I just used them or warehoused them like my 600 anitfire, 300 zammy 4 dose pot collection. I gave up on this skill at 75 but then the summer garden brought me back.

 

 

 

I do buy my own ess off new players since they haven't gone into the "nest egg must grow" phase yet. Although you may see me mine it once and while when I only need 1k or something.

Precisely and I think this is exactly the point:

 

 

 

I do collect ONLY if it gives me xp and if it can be used by other skills:

 

 

 

For example: buying eyes of newt is useless: it is better to craft 2k nats in 1hour and to sell those nats and buy the eyes. At the end you wil have more eyes per hour.

 

 

 

For logs: it is stupid to buy logs for training FM as when you woodcut them, burning them avoid you the banking (especially as the fastest xp for cutting is willow or maples). I do maples only as they are the best combined wc anf fm xp. You cut woodcut for flecth? have you seen how long it taes to get 100 mage log? Craft 2k nats and buy mage logs you will gat many more per hour. For the fm and wc it is different as you won't need to bank, what makes the difference.

 

 

 

For Fish and Cook: same: as cok gives more xp than fish you will get 99 cook before fish so point closed.

 

 

 

Same for herb and farm. Do grow herbs and limp and watermeloen and stick to this. It is slower but so much more enjoyable than wasting tons of cash for nothing (ever compared the xp per gp in the tree ?)

 

 

 

People should look a bit more to the connection between skills. They will enjoy skilling much more and have more cash also

The only noncombat skill I train is herblore. I get my herbs from kingdom, drops when doing slayer and farming. Although I have 84 farming I farm toadflax most of them time because of their insane herblore xp making brews. I buy my toadflax seeds and use the seeds I get from slayer.

 

 

 

I buy my waterfilled vials from other people.

 

 

 

I collect some the 2nds myself. I buy eyes in draynor, collect fungis with house teles, telegrab zammy wines while alching and collect potato cactus in monk robes and either alch or if I have kaphites as task I kill them while waiting for the respawns. I collect most of my limpwurts myself as well; farming them. I buy all other 2nds.

 

 

 

I'd say I collect about half of my materials myself.

I don't get the following;

 

*The food I use at barrows/metal dragons/slayer tasks

 

*Logs

 

*Essence/Pure Essence

 

*Flax

 

 

 

I do get the following;

 

*Runes (crafting the essence)

 

*Potions, I generally get all the herbs myself without they are really cheap (e.g.. Selling 100 herbs over rannar 1k each) and I get all my seconds myself.

 

*Cooking/Fishing exp, I fly fish mainly and cook 99% of the fish (note this food is used for lvl monsters/slayer tasks/green dragons)

ppl who "power buy" their way to 99 in stats such as fletch and cook get lop sided stats. i fletch what I cut, then I alch it with nats I make. I DO buy the essence, and I do buy the string because I hate gathering both of those. BUt now that string is averaging 200 gp ea *gags* I might have to go to elfland where their is a flax patch literally 3 steps from bank window, and spin it in lumbry *shivers at thought*, just as soon as I get through the remainder of the 6k strings I have. oh that reminds me, I have had 9k cut yew longs collecting dust for almost a year...maybe I should string em....

 

 

 

I hate fishing and cooking, so When I run low on groceries, I go catch a couple hundred and cook them, and go back to training...so I have cooked everything I have ever fished. Which is why I have sad fish and cook levs lol.

 

 

 

stats like herby and rc, you just HAVE to buy herbs and utilize RC runners to get 99s in that...if not it would take forever to get 99 crafting them yourself. I have never used runners, which is why I have a very low RC lev.

I collect a lot of my own materials (I cut over 67k yews that I am using/have use to get my fletching up), but there are times when I just don't want to do something (like picking flax and making bowstrings). I also use the "Manage Thy Kingdom" mini-game thing to collect a lot of my raw materials (maples for firemaking (after I get 99 fletching)).

I purchase the following:

 

Pure essence (I'm not going to mine a million of it for 99, which is my main goal at this time)

 

Tools needed for skills (I can't make rune axes, and no one in the game can make a rune pickaxe :wink: )

 

Herb seeds (I actually haven't yet, but I've decided that I'm willing to, as they're rare from thieving and I don't do combat, so there's no real way to get them)

 

 

 

Aside from those, I purchase nothing for my skills, though I do use MTK if that's considered purchasing materials.
