Lighs
Monkfish are better exp than anything that you can fish at the guild and more profitable. Fly fishing at Shiloh is the fastest fishing exp in the game. Given those facts, why does anybody still fish at the fishing guild? It seems to be fairly full at every world, and not just with autoers and skill pures- I see level 80+'s there who could easily do Swan Song or Shiloh Village. Do people prefer the conversation at the fishing guild, or is there some other benefit that I'm missing? A related issue: Why does anybody fish for sharks? They're not profitable because of the slow catching speed and they are abysmal exp as well. I think that by the time that you can fish sharks, even lobsters are more profitable, and monkfish completely blow them out of the water (pun intended). Can somebody who actually catches sharks shed some light on this?

rareghoul1
well, most people don't realise how slow the catch sharks, and they see how much money they are per catch, so they fish those. as for the fishing guild, i'd assume that people think because it's a guild it's better to fish at. Lighs
sharks heal more, possible answer? You're not required to train using something that you actually fished. You can fish a few thousand monkfish, sell them on forums, use the money to buy sharks, and end up with a lot more sharks (and a lot more exp) than you would have had had you actually fished for sharks. I guess that if you need some good food for a quest battle and don't have any sharks in the bank, it's nice to be able to just fish however many you need without bothering to buy them. However, that doesn't explain the fact that people sell thousands of sharks, raw and cooked, on forums and in banks.
spikegamer
One reason is for money fishing lobsters or sharks. Another could be that both Shilo and the colony require quest to have access to, restricting players from entering who can't do the quest.
leedragon8
Ewww, is this guild worthy of a thread? This guild, by far, is evil... The evilest of the evils go there! Maleficus1055
I cant do Swan Song and at least theres conversation unlike at Catherby where its: Noob: <>< <>< Noob2: Fishing lvls? Noob3: Press 999 if u liek Acdc!!!1 Tumblr. Follow me!
Wheels
Personally, I only use the guild for fishing sharks. The only reason I fish them is of course for food. I would use Catherby but the excess of noobs/autoers makes it VERY annoying. I enjoy conversing with semi-intelligent people in the guild. Are you winning The Game? Norton3000
I use the Fishing guild only when im doing emote clues. \ I use monkfishes for healing and I can't fish sharks yet so I don't have a reason to go there. =; Retired from RuneScape for as long as possible. marc_powell9
I use the fishing guild all the time. I'm tyring to get 99 fishing right now, from lobbies all the way from 73. Reason why? Well, it was the way you raised fishing in RSC, and I like to keep things retro. And before you say, I have done Shilo and Swan Song # Marc #
pati
I can't enter the guild :D that's why I don't use is Computers will never be above humans because we made them. That's what monkeys used to say about us.
dante1918
i used to fish there because i hate quests. i did not want to get the QP needed for swan song. but when i decided to go for 99 (achived as of april fools day  ) i wanted fast EXP with good GP so i did swan song and the rest is history. thought i would corect a few minour points. first shark are more profatble than lobs (or at least they where when they where 1k) sharks take twice as long as lobs to catch but are worth 4x as much. as longas shark are not less than twice the price of lobs there still a good money maker. also as far as fishing to 99 its more profatble to fish with lobs rather than monks. thats because you need to catch a lot more lobs than monks so you end up takeing longer with lobs but with more GP. ~1733rd person to 99 fishing. Achived on april fools day 07 :)~

Noob3: Press 999 if u liek Acdc!!!1 +100000 i can atleast stand in the fishing guild and not have to deal with "emote emote emote" and quests are by far the worst excuse for adventure runescape has, so i bypass all of them unless they have a reward like ancient magiks. sharks are way better then monks anyways and i have no real problem with catching then quickly or even cooking them. so i stand strong with the fishing guild (and inside it), been a member of it since runescape classic and it appears to have stood the test of time unlike other places in runescape that have totally gone to hell . . . thats my case \

stevepole
I using the fishing guild because of the quick access to a bank, sometimes there are decent ppl to talk to. And I haven't done the quest to fish monkfish. And its a good place to fish lobsters.
RAHK
I don't see any game benefit for using the fishing guild. The only defendable reason is conversation (though I have yet to be impressed there). The only reason I fish sharks is so that I can catch that dang big one and stuff it. Once I do, I won't fish sharks again. Monks or trout/salmon are superior in every way. Sharks should only be fished by the quest-light or the big-shark-less. Fish for xp, do things that actually make over 200k an hour for gp. mini193
I rarely use it because I fish monks for food/xp but with both of those, I love the crowd. I remember when I finished swan song I was the lowest level fishing monks (89 at the time I think) Doing a little bit of everything
Italian5kamikaze
I have 92 fishing, yes i have done swan song and i think sharks are more profitable. Quit. PM me if you play The Conduit to exchange friend codes.
blakdragon39
I fish for my own food, and I don't want to have to worry about trading or finding buyers and sellers. I fish for sharks because I use sharks on some occasions. Not everyone fishes for exp. For my normal training food however, I use the fishing colony. You sound incredibly prejudiced against the guild though :-s
