corrections to above image: sir gawain is level 122, and sir kay is weak to stab

Hi all! this here's my first guide, so please bear with me, I'm trying to fit every bit of info I can. None of this info was copied from anywhere besides the squire who gives information, and tipiters who posted with helpful advice. I myself went to tear through the knights while recording my information and trying various techniques, all for my fellow tipiters! :D

So after the turmoils of the King's Ransom quest, you decide you want to defeat the new mini-game for melee. The Knights Wave Training ground, a place where some of Runescape's stronger players gather to defeat a few Knights of the round Table.

1.0 Quick Notes

-You will have to defeat eight knights in a row. All are level 110+ and hit pretty hard.

-You cannot pray and can only use melee combat. Range and Magic are not allowed.

-You will have to fight these people one after another. there will be virtually no breaks to prepare. however, there are some safe spots I will explain in case you need to heal up.

-These knights will lower a specific melee stat. However, the final knight, Lancelot, will lower TWO stats. Be VERY careful on him!

-Remember, you will not lose items if you die. If you want to stop, you can click the door to leave. However, by dying or leaving you will have to start over at the first knight

-If you want to take a break without losing progress, just logout. when you login, you will resume combat with the current knight.

2.0 Reccomended stats/Requirements

This is a pretty tough minigame and is not for the weak. lvl 110+ combat should hopefully make it easy. However, I did it at 96. I would say a combat of 90+ is the bare minimum to go through with a struggle.

Melee stats reccomended are:

75+ attack

80+defence

75+strength

70+ Hitpoints

Requirements are that you beat the quest King's Ransom

3.0 What to Wear

Obviously since you're battling eight very strong knights, you'll need some very good armor. Bring your absolute Best melee armor, and you can choose between a rune defender or a rune kite or better, or a 2 handed weapon (not reccomended unless its with guthan set). Bring a Glory amulet or a Fury amulet, and if you have it you might find it a bit helpful to bring full Guthans along to heal. Try to get your defence stats at 300+, because these guys hit hard and pretty often. I won easily with a defensive strategy: wear your best defensive material. as long as he hits less, you're ok. However, some people especially stronger players may prefer armor that gives better offensive bonuses, such as Helm of Neitiznot and Fighter torso. This is not reccomended for lower level players as they will be hit a lot harder.

My armor setup (i only used the armor I had, so I'm sure there are better setups out there. If you have better bonuses then me, then use your own setup). Some meleers have done it with rune armor or fighter torsos. Others have used Guthans. With a really high defence and your bonuses at 300+, any armor would do.

armorrr8.png

Items that are highly reccomended are:

D scimmy

DDS

D battle axe (not necessarily for the spec, but some guys are weak to crush attacks so you use the b axe for that) If you have no d b axe, use any other dragon weapon with a crush style, like a d mace. The d mace has slightly lower bonuses, so its better for people with lower strength since it hits a bit faster to make up for the les damage.

4.0 Inventory

-You will definatly need 4-6 Restore pots (or super restores, but restore pots are a lot better for the situation, I'll explain later)

-bring the weapons of choice

-Fill the rest of your inventory with Sharks or better (anything under sharks probably isn't a good idea).

-For higher levels, you can decide to bring a super set. If you drink before entering your stats will be nice and high. thus you'll be a lot stronger, use less food and pots, and won't have to worry about restoring stats for a while.

Pic:

inventoryxb4.png

This inventory contains: super set (optional), 5 restore pots [4 dose], d b axe, dds, ring of recoil [optional], and sharks [can be replaced with better food]. I did the knights waves without recoil or super set. but both items may make your life a bit easier.

5.0 Getting there

After getting your supplies, head to Camelot. go inside the castle then go to the southwest corner. there will be a ladder. climb up, then go up the next ladder. Talk to the squire and he'll explain what to do. Now, if you're prepared, enter the room...

Here's a pic of the ladder to get to the top floor

cameloted8.png

6.0 Safe spot

When you enter, you will notice dummies surrounding the edge of the room. when a knight attacks you, maneuver him towards the dummies. Put him on one side of the dummy, and you on the other side. Unfortunatly, you cannot hally here. However, this is an ideal spot to heal yourself when you are weak without taking constant damage from the knight. You can change weapons depending on the knight you fight, set your special attack, use potions and food, and be prepared. then step out and attack the knight.

Here's a pic of the dummies. unfortunatly i can't go back in the room once i completed the knights waves, so i had to take the picture from the outside.

dummyhj6.png

7.0 The knights

Each knight is weak against a certain attack style. When you use a poisoned weapon of that attack style on the correct knight, he may get poisoned. Whenever a knight does damage to you (if he hits 0 nothing happens) 5 levels are taken off a certain combat stat. Thus, restore pots are better to use then super restores, because super restores heal a lot and would be a waste here. Keep an eye on your stats and health at all times, heal them when they get below 10 levels of your regular level.

An idea used by some players is to use the correct attack style with a dds to poison the knight. then move on the safe spot and let the poison kill the knight. However, some tipiters have pointed out that if you stand there for too long, the knight will dissappear and you will have to start over. To prevent this from happening, run up and hit the knight, then run back to safety.

You will first fight Sir Bedivere. He's level 110. When he does damage, he will take off 5 strength levels. His weakness is stab attacks, so tear him apart with a dds (don't waste too many specs). He should be very easy, I killed him without him even doing any damage to me (saving me pots and food  )

Next comes Sir Pelleas. He's at lvl 112 but is no match for a slash attack. Use a dds or d scimmy to slice and dice him. He lowers your defence stat.

Now you fight sir Tristram. At level 115, he will lower your strength. Pull out your dds and use stab attacks on him and a spec or two.

Those three knights were the easy ones. Hopefully you didn't waste too much food or potions, you'll need them now. The next knight is sir Palomedes. He is level 118 and will lower your attack stat. He might be a pain in the butt because to efficiently kill him you'll need a crush weapon like a d b axe. the only downside is that poisoning him is very hard and the d b axe is slow. Luckily, He's the only one who's weak to crush, so you won't need your d b axe for much then on.

Next comes Sir Lucan, level 120. He shouldn't be too much of a problem with a slash weapon. Poison him, then tear him up. He will lower your defence so be very careful as he will start hitting harder as your defence depletes.

Sir Gawain is next. Dispite holding a hally, he will still hit you as fast as a longsword wielder would. Gawain lowers your attack stat and is weak to slash attacks.

Next comes Sir Kay. You're almost done with these knights, there's just one more after this guy! Kay is level 124 and very painful. He lowers defence so be careful of hard, 20+ damage hits that are pretty common. Use a dds on the stab style to poison him quickly, then either hide or take him down with a d scimmy or dds. When the fight ends, heal yourself to the max as soon as possible, the final knight will be a pain.

Now you will fight Sir Lancelot, Arthur's right-hand man. He is a strong level 127 who will deal a great amount of damage if you don't watch your stats. Instead of lowering one melee stat, he lowers TWO: strength and defence. This means that he'll be able to do more damage on you and you do less damage on him, the wordt possible combo for you! Make sure you never go below 10 levels down in those stats, use restore pots and the safe spot when needed to stay alive. Thankfully, since he lowers two stats, he also has 2 weaknesses: slash and crush. Now, you probably wont use crush much, but at least slash will make him a bit easy. Use all of your dds specs on him immediatly to hopefully poison him. Then you ca continue the fight with a slash weapon. However, if you're low on pots or food, there's an alternative way. after you use all your specs, he will hopefullu be poisoned. Go to the safe spot and let poison do damage. when your spec recharges, use the spec on him again to speed up the battle. Eventually, you will have defeated him!

8.0 The Rewards

After the battle, you will be teleported outside. Merlin will reward you.

The rewards: 20k exp in all combat stats, access to the new prayers (need 60 prayer for first one, 70 for the second one), and merlin can set your respawn point to Camelot!

Congratulations on defeating the Knight Waves!

Believe me, there are many ways to defeat these knights. I just used whatever stuff I had in my bank and managed to defeat em all at 96 combat. Browse this thread as some people have really interesting setups!

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

it needs more pics...for example, pics of knights

Well I was gonna do that after I beat the knights for the first time (just so i get the reward) unfortunatly, I found out once you beat it, you can't go in again.

But I'll try to get pictures of what I can, like the dummy safe spot.

They get bored and go away if you dont attack them for some time i think...So you have to step out and hit them once in a while.

I beat all of them with dds...never thought they had weakneses <.<

Also, i tried farming once and my potatoes died, put me off forever.

I brought a 4-dose super set and 3 super restores (I only used one. I didn't have any regular restores, lol).

DDS, D scimmy, Abyssal whip, and Dmace.

Neitiznot helm, Rune plate, D skirt, rune boots, barrows gloves, rune kite, glory, ring of recoil.

Lots of tuna potatoes and sharks.

For perspective, I'm combat 99 (78/79/79).

I sipped all my supers after I went in (in retrospect, should have done that first!) and so I had some nice stats.

When they hit me I fell down to normal stats ... and after a few sips of super restore I realised it wasn't what I needed. So I focused on keeping my stats up with the super set instead. But maybe that only worked for me because I didn't get hit much my 2nd time through.

I brought a D mace, and its crush attacks seemed to work well on Sir Kay and Sir Lucan, no idea if that is really reliable or not.

I did start off with the DDS special on each one, and several of them took poison damage. Some of them seemed to be hit better by the DDS than other weapons ... I kind of ended up randomly changing weapons if I felt like they weren't working, lol.

I didn't know about the hiding thing so I didn't do it.

My first time in I only brought monkfish, and no recoil ring, but I made it to Lancelot before I ran out of food.

it's a lot easier to get over yourself when you look at intelligence the same way you look at beauty, or height, or eye color: being smart is easy, but being good is hard ... being smart is handed to you, being good is handed to *nobody*.

Helm of Neitiznot, fighter torso, torag platelegs, barrow gloves, fury, rune boots, and an obsidian cape.

I brung 3 super restores (4) and 20 sharks. I did fine. ::' Although the first Knight was awfully hard. :s

I did this without the safespot. I safed

I read most of your guide and it looks pretty nice. Good job. =D>

Full guthans, 4 restore pots, super set, all sharks.

Made it most of the way with little problems.

I drank my first super set at the begging, that lasted to about the 3rd last guy, where I drank another, then I drank 1 more dose at lancealot.

Super set helps a lot, not so much because u hit harder, but because it gives your stats a buffer, so if you get hit, it will take longer for the stat to become lower enough for you to worry about restoring it.

I used about 10 or so sharks, Guthans helped a lot with recharging, plus it has all the atk styles (crush, stab and slash, all the ones you need).

Simple tip: Get your defence as high as possible. (So there are better choices of barrows armour than Guthans)

In order to reduce your stats - they have to hit you!

A couple of rings of recoil are good as it means when they hit you, they take damage.

As there no time between one knight dying and the next spawning, if using a superset I suggest taking the sip of super defence first.

When you do get hit, take a sip of normal restore. It is only your melee stats that are affected and you cannot use prayer. (Note - there is a mistake in the guide - super restores do not heal, unless you are using a barbarian 2 dose mix with caviar!)

I managed ity fine in full rune, Neitiznot helm, rune boots, barrows gloves, glory, ring of recoil and a whip.

In my inventory I had a DDP++, a 4 dose super set, a spare recoil, 4 normal 4 dose restore pots and the rest Tuna & Sweetcorn potatoes. I still had 1 full restore pot and 5 potatoes left at the end.

Also if you die - you do not lose anything - you just reappear outside the door with all your stats back to full. (So if you want to go in and try it out a few different times, without wasting food or pots, you can).

I'm 104 CB (Well, I was when I went in, came out 105 - woot!), and did the whole thing with netziot, rune plate, d legs, whip, rune kite, addy boots (someday I'll get around to buying some rune boots).

I used the whole super set, but didn't use any restores. I ate 5 tuna potatoes.

No attack style other than the whip defensive slash.

Really, it was quite easy.

I'm 99 cb. just barely got through with 4 restore pots, 1 super att, 1 super def, and the rest sharks. brought a dds, dba, and whip, but didnt use the axe much..... down to the last hit on lancelot though. coulda used more super att pots.

I did this easily at 97 combat (80 str, 78 att, 73 def, 81 hp) with only 6 swordies, super strength, super attack and 2 restore pots, and only used 1 dose of super  . Did it all with d scim, dds, full rune, neitznot helm, quest cape, glory and barrows gloves (i had boots of lightness and ring of charos too lol)

If u get the first hit in against the knight they will wander around aimlessly without fighting back. Although this was hard to do since i had to right click on the knight to attack, and had to click attack twice for some reason.

That might be a bug so dont abuse it (i only accidently used it on 3 of the knights lol, after which i realised why the werent fighting back and stopped using it)

Nice guide. Knowing what the wweakness of each knight helped.

I actually only needed 1 dose of my super set (drank it right before I entered the room) and then 1 dose of my restore pot the entire time. I only needed to eat 2 sharks to finish the game. It really does help having a high combat level.

I used DDS and whip, d chain, d legs, rune defender, barrows gloves, zerker helm, rune boots, HP skill cape and Fury ammy.

I wore veracs and took super set, one super restore, ring of recoil and rest sharks. I came out with 5 sharks and 2 doses of super set left.

(I used ddp++ and whip.)

Piece of cake  (combat level 106)

very easy. well except lancelot.

just bring full G and a whip/defender, 2 super sets (just super set when you get to around normal, or twice if you get below normal), and rest shark.

just use G the whole fight then use whip/defender on lancelot, using sharks when necessary.

a tip on these, most you donht worry about except theo nes that lower defense. once they hit you it lowers your defense, which makes it easier for them to hit you, which makes your defense go down more, and it snowballs from there.

all the knights have very low defenses except lancelot.

for reference, guthans has stab, slash, crush, and defensive slash, so all bases are covered. and the dds/scimi?, any stab works (guthans), so he is regular 'stab'

Thanks dude, just finished it (cb 97) thanks to your guide:

helm from fremmenik isles

glory

rune pl8

rune legs

barrow gloves (RFD)

I used the drag dag p++ and whip

for the knight (kay I think) you didn't know: lunge with drag dag seemed to work quite fine
