Homosexuality: Right or Wrong?

I think its just people trying to get attention. People can choose not to be homosexual if they want. I know I'll get a bunch of crap for saying this, but thats what I think.

 

 

 

also, seeing as the bible says homosexuality is a sin, I see there can be only 3 possibilities:

 

 

 

1. its a choice

 

2. its not a choice and the bible is wrong

 

3. its not a choice and the bible is right

 

 

 

I think we can rule out choice 3, cause God would have to be really stupid to create someone who is inherently sinful and can't do anything about it...

 

 

 

It's something called free will. I'm sure got made people to commit suicide. Wait, thats right. If got controlled/knew everything we would do no body would go to hell, because god either wouldn't let us sin, or wouldn't make the people who were going to sin. As I've said countless times... Christianity does not regard homosexuality itself as sinful, as it is not a choice. It does regard acting on homosexual thoughts as sinful though, which is why the Church asks homosexuals to live a chaste life, in the same way that heterosexuals should live a chaste life until marriage (though more constricted I suppose, as homosexuals aren't permitted to act on their sexual preferences at all).

i saw that post aswell......my mother is a hairdresser and she works with alot of homosexual men there and one of them happens to be one of her best friends, he said when he was younger he was actually on the verge of suicide from getting dished out all the cruelty and hatred from friends, family.....and complete strangers, he said he would never wish this life on anyone, so if you think they do it for attention think before you post please

Look up the word discrimination, it's not "wrong" or "evil". It's just using logic and subjective knowledge.

 

 

 

For example, choosing to eat a healthy apple over a poisonous one is technically discrimination, as you are choosing between the two which one is better to eat. Now, are you going to tell me it's wrong that I discriminated between the two apples? Or that it was logical?

 

 

 

The same thing goes for debates- we're discriminating between points that we find logical and ones we find illogical, and thus offering counterarguments for those posts we find to be ill informed. It's discriminiation in that we are dividing and choosing based on subjective knowledge.

 

 

 

Now, you're probably thinking of prejudice and racism when you think of "wrong" discrimination, which are, unlike discrimination, illogical and frowned upon. It's a common mistake (as they, being prejudice and racism, stem from initial illogical discrimination), so there's no real harm done :P . Just hope you understand.

 

 

 

So, that's what I mean by the fact that it's not "wrong" to inform Mountdoom that his opinion is ill informed and needs revamping, that's all :P .

When I was younger my best friends brother was gay and it didn't matter where we went, there would be people with trolley poles waiting to get him, or out in the car park near his car to get a punch in before he could get in and what I saw really shocked me. He was only 18 and had been in hospital 4 times.

But what i want to know is, Im pretty sure Christians believe God is Omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent. Omnipresent doesn;t have much to do with this pos,t but i like to have all three together. Somebody-don;t know who, don;t care to check and quote- said that God doesn;t know what will happen. But isn;t he supposed to? Is that not what being God includes? He should know everything, thus he should know who will be gay, and can prevent it. I'll admit the responses were a little... harsh and immature, but the only reason I felt they were even slightly justified was the fact that Mountdoom's opinion is, according to nearly all data known to man, wrong. There was no point in even debating the matter. Though, rather than be nice about responding and replying calmly, forumers here do tend to shove it in people's faces a little too much, so I'll agree with you on that.

You admitted right there that you're choosing your beliefs not based on logical principals, but based on your emotions. Rather than deciding your viewpoint on how you feel, use some brains. Personally I too find two guys doing it pretty gross. But that's just what we're used to. It doesn't make it wrong. Plenty things in nature are gross. Just because the thought of it is slightly repulsive to you, it doesn't make it wrong.

 

Oh and if by he, you mean God, when referring to not making people gay, explain the ram example you just came up with? You think rams consciously think about their sexual preferences and choose to suddenly like their same sex?

My ex boyfriends brother is gay. The both of them have been raised by an extremely strict Christian family. So strict that they live at the church more than they live at home. Their son was still gay.

 

 

 

I know about 20 gay people, female and male and every single one of them (to support FreudÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s gay theory) had trouble identifying with the same sex parent in the phallic stage of developing identity.

I just made this thread to see what the people of TIF think on this. Please post your reason for saying its right/ wrong. And yes religion is a perfectly acceptable answer. Just specify which one.

Still doesn't make it a choice however does it. Things affecting you subconciously cant be down to your own fault. So I fail to see why if it's not genetic or partically it makes any difference.

It wouldn't be possible to change because you learn to identify with your same sex parent a year before you develop a conscience in your childhood.

 

 

 

Therefore, if you fail to identify with your same sex parent and become gay, you are gay before you develop a conscience.

 

 

 

Hence why many gays believe "they were born gay" They were gay before they developed the conscience to know so.

No it is possible to become gender CONFUSED after the phallic stage of childhood development.

 

 

 

Those who were gay before the phallic stage had finished, will never be able to go from being gay to straight.

 

 

 

They can have cognitive therapy but this does not make you "not gay" that is a bunch of crap whoever told you that. You can only learn with cognitive therapy to act straight.

My ex boyfriends brother is gay. The both of them have been raised by an extremely strict Christian family. So strict that they live at the church more than they live at home. Their son was still gay.

 

 

 

I know about 20 gay people, female and male and every single one of them (to support FreudÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s gay theory) had trouble identifying with the same sex parent in the phallic stage of developing identity.

 

 

 

For those of you who are preaching "It's a choice" What choice can a child have when having difficulty developing identity with their same sex parent when a child develops a conscience A YEAR LATER than developing identity.

Good point there. Of course, anyone can be gay. A propensity to be so isn't magically erased when one converts to or is brought up around Christianity. Take Ted Haggard for example. He was accused of having sex with a male prostite and ended up admitting it. Can those who suggest homosexuality is a choice enlighten me as to why on earth a guy like Ted Haggard, who is as Christian and evangelical as they get, would just 'choose' to be gay?

 

 

 

@ Insane, I'm not going to doubt that it's possible, my issue is with those who seem to think it's an easy choice to make.
