- God wars dungeon

- "more dangerous looking" areas

- examines that better show where objects came from

:uhh:

that'll be one hell of a big update

Yay, now we're going to get a dungeon filled with lots of overpowered monsters, as well as a HUGE amount of lag from everyone downloading such a large update. :anxious:

There's confirmation from paul itself on the offficial forum there would not be update this week, dang bank holidays *ups fist*

Also he said there would be a week off of updates monthly, I would post a pic but I don't know if it's against the rules

they also mentioned an ahcievement diary. 2 more updates. 2 weeks. u would think 1 each week but... :-k

No they didn't. There was no Achivement diary mentioned. No idea where people are getting that from :wall:

but they should!

I don't get why anyone cares if another Achievement Diary is released. We know it will be Varrock, and because of that, it has a 99% chance of sucking. I can't even think of a hard level task, other than tacking on some ludicrous smithing requirement, and I sure as hell can't think of a decent reward.

This kind of thing happens before a large update. For example, I think it happened before the release of RFD. And the God Wars dungeon sounds quite big.

Tbh, I prefer it this way. 1 Big Update > 2 Small Updates.

If they did some system updates to all the servers in preparation for this update, or even in adjustment following on from the Clan Chat update (to minimise lag) AND then added God Wars dungeon at the same time ...

... the risk of problems is huge. It is sensible business and project management to - as much as possible - make big changes independently, so that you know when a problem occurs, what change caused the problem.

This may be the process they are going through, although a short note about system updates made could easily have eliminated the wondering.

"Hey everyone, we've made some secret system changes this week in preparation for upcoming updates ... bet you can't wait ... it's really good ... you were hoping it would be this week, weren't you ... Muahahahahaha"

They like to leave the players wondering. I just hope they release the stats and effects of whatever new items they bring out with the GWD in the Knowledge Base, and not try to pull another stunt like with the Third Age items... Creating hard-to-get items and not releasing the stats just encourages players to lie about the stats in order to gouge the price.

Exactly ... no update creates a bit of tension and wondering. It's why they released the advertising for it a week or so ago.

Hats off to them for the way they have gone about building expectation for the new dungeon. Start with a new book hidden in a bookcase ... behind the scenes ... web advert ... a no-update week. I hope for everyone's sake that the update hits the sweet spot (i.e., minimal rants - there will be some - and no need to make it easier or harder).

Yeah, they certainly did a good job in that area. Although now they have hit a dilemma. If it doesn't 'hit the sweet spot', people are gonna get annnoyed. Big time.

I'm sure waiting a week for the update won't kill you; there is already plenty of content to keep you occupied. If not, maybe step away from the computer and do something to take your mind off it? Personally I think that for a minigame like GodWars Dungeon which sounds so cool we should be forced to wait a little bit for it. It makes it even better when it does come. :?

Oh yeah ... although people will still complain about something in there. Wouldn't count as an update if no one complains.

~~Hmm I can see it now...

High levels will complain of some or all of the following...

-Monsters to tough

-Monsters to easy

-Godsword has bad stats

-Godsword is overpowered

---Pking is ruined yada yada yada.

---Whip is worthless yada yada yada.

-Bad weilding requirements

-Way to high weilding requirements

Low levels will complain that they never get updates...

...Yet the rants forum will still be completely full of the same old "Aye! Y cant i eet brnt fooodz?!?@!3" spam topics. ~~

Ah well...wouldnt be runescape without any of that. :D

I think Jagex is really onto something with this update and I really really hope for their sake that the people like it too.

I know I will! :D ...I hope... :ohnoes: Hehe kidding.

You can't expect Jagex to pump out update after update, give them some time. It seems like a big update for Runescape anyways.

What I do hope is that it's not ONLY a lvl 110+ dungeon, that there's stuff to do there lvl 80+ too. An update that big targeted at a minority of players only would be lame :(

this is what makes it more fun if its a challenge

Right...

Six more days of waiting won't kill anyone. If you can't stand the wait, go outside and play with the neighborhood kids.

But the neighbourhood kids call me names :(

On-Topic

I really hope it comes out tommorow, I'm expecting whip prices to fall heavily, as lets face it, theres going to be a new weapon coming out with it.

I highly doubt the Godsword will replace the whip as the best all-around weapon in the game. It would be overpowered if it did. The whip can max at 46 with Piety, hitting with a 6 speed rating. Think if you could hit 50+ at that same speed.... PvP would become even more ridiculous than it already is.

I believe the Godsword will be a very powerful TWO HANDED weapon, capable of inflicting around 60-65 with pots, max strength gear, Piety, and 99 strength. That's not bad, considering with Dharok's you need to get to the point where you risk being spec'd out to hit above 60.

Why do people keep talking about a "godsword"? Nowhere in the BTS does it mention one(or I'm going blind). Is it just major speculation caused by the mention of "Incredible loot", or am I missing something posted elsewhere?

Ummmm ya you're going blind because it clearly states that there's going to be a godsword.

I think part of the draw of RuneScape to some of the more mature players, is the sense of satisfaction that you are so clearly more mature than others ... therefore a rantable update is probably pretty critical to the framework of the community O:)

Otherwise we'll have to rant about having nothing to rant about ... and if I had to do that, then I'd have to rant about having to rant about having nothing to rant about ... and if I had to do that ..........

OK, I've got mad now ... I'll shut up ... but a bit of senseless humour (that is what it was supposed to be in case you were wondering) can be good from time to time.
