Stupid Age Limitation on Pokemon!?

Why are there people in this world that think a G rated game isn't allowed to be played by a 30+ year old? The best example is probably Pokemon, yet in the advert for the Mario Party game on Wii has people aged approximately 20-35...

Because, come on, let's be honest, it's a game targeted at the 8-12 yeard old audience. That by no means makes it a bad game, btu if you're playign it and not expecting to be made fun of, well, that stinks.

 

 

 

And I dunno if I'll get flamed for this, but there are better handheld RPGs than Poke'mon, such as Final Fantasy Tactics Advance...

Yes, Choco, it is aimed at 8-12, yet it's only AIMED. And there probably are better RPG's than Pokemon :wink: I just don't understand how people put an age limit on Pokemon, but not Mario Party games (Etc) :notalk:

Pokemon is definately awesome, but easily finished. And boring easily, yet still has a stupid age limit.

Mario party games suck real bad...but regular mario games were you only play as mario are fine..

 

 

 

and im 19, and ill tell anyone i'll gladly admit i play pokemon then ill proceed to tell them what version..red, blue, yellow, and silver..also leaf green

 

i really dont care what people think of me liking it...chances are that they at some point liked it also.

Pokemon is seen as a young kid's game (around 10 years old) but little kids have no idea where to go and what to do, the puzzles, etc are way too hard for a 10 year old to complete without help from an older person, so even though it is seen as a little kids game it is probably good for more developed minds, maybe at around 13 and up to complete the missions.

Nintendo are trying to get all new gamers into buying their products. If you are on the London Underground and look at the ads on the tubes you'll see posters of businessmen in suits, granddads, professional women, housewives etc. Games arnt just for kids.

It's allowed to play by older people, but the challenge & fun you could experience is low if you're older. If Nintendo rates it for under a certain age, people who are older then the advised age & buy the game, don't like it, will understand that maybe this isn't the kind of game for their age. The advantage? They won't generalise the fact that Nintendo makes bad games, but just accept the fact that some games are not challenging for them.

 

 

 

As Mercifull said, game producers are trying to improve their sales on other people then kids.

 

Eg. Nicole Kidman commercial to promote brain training.

Pokemin may seem like a silly kids game, but really ther afre a lot of complex aspects that kids cant understand. EV training and stat raising is all about increasing the numbers that go behind the scenes from an attack. decide whether to max out your offensive, or raise your incredibly low defensive on slow pokemon. compare stats to find that pokemon that seem good may actually be a team nub. How can little kids understand all this? As far as their concerned, just use the move on the bad guy and beat him up. there's a lot more behind it, and Nintendo helps make sure it is reached.

I'm 21 in a month. I mostly play Pok̮̩̉̉mon Diamond on train rides. The 8-12 age group really seems too young for some of the more complicated parts of the game (EV training, breeding, etc.).
