The British Government's New Law

It's not just the look of them, as I already said, it's a lot harder to buy them, you can't buy them on the internet, you have to be a register airsofter and you need to go to the actual shop (of which there are VERY few)

I may not live in the UK, but WHAT is so DIFFICULT about registering for something? If you really enjoy using BB guns, then take the time and money to buy the liscence you need, take the time to find a shop, and go do it. I think it's the lack of real commitment to doing something you enjoy that's the issue here.

You really don't get it, in all the time I've lived here, I've seen one shop, about 5 hours away from my house and it was shut. I've heard of another shop but I think that shut down and it's 2 hours from my house anywhere. I have no lack of commitment to doing it or I wouldn't pay for the guns and ammo...

Well, you may not be able to purchase them online, but you CAN use the internet to actually see if there is a shop nearby. And if I were committed to something, I would travel for that amount of time. I also wouldn't be worried about needing to be registered for it, I would just do it.

If the law requires face-to-face purchasing, then any UK-based internet shop for said BB guns will be shut down accrding to the law, which means they would need a physical store.

Actually most of them have switched to just selling ammo and accessories. I have googled for some shops but nothing has really come up.

That's odd that you can buy the ammo online but not the guns themselves. An unloaded gun is useless... they should take the ammo off the internet as well. Just my opinion.

I think they left ammo on just so they don't completely ruin airsofting. If you don't believe me check this site that used to have a couple of hundred different types of gun on (I've brought from here)

Ok, a question for you - do you think something that can (as we've been through) maim, if not kill should be allowed for purchase on the internet - a haven for under-age purchase and usage if there ever was one - simply for your convenience and enjoyment?

If the answer is yes - I think you seriously need to reconsider your stance that the distribution of dangerous items (which yes they are) is inferior to your pleasure

If the answer is no - then you must concede that the government is taking a basically good action (albeit at your personal loss).

I felt the same thing recently with higher gun control on shotguns for the use of clay pigeon shooting - Its made it a bit more difficult to shoot nowadays and I have to go a bit further but I'm willing to make that sacrifice for better gun control - I sure prefer that to the American way of random shootings every so often.

Hey baron8000 just before you post again, have you ever had a BB gun or been shot by one?

I have 2, was shot by one by my cousin 2 weeks ago (in the leg and kidney, white, slightly heavier BBs).

On the same topic I've also shot paintball, real pistols (although rarely) but my real preference was for my 18-bore shotgun (which unfortunately had to be destroyed recently, which now means I have to use rented guns, #-o :notalk: ) for clay pigeon shooting (as mentioned before).

Yeah In use 0.2g BBs as well. Funny because you said you have been shot yet you still say things like:

...do you think something that can (as we've been through) maim, if not kill...
You should know they just sting, they do not maim or kill.

catch a BB in the eye, then tell me they can't maim.

and yes, heavier BBs sting like a B***h  , man I hurt my cousin after that.

I do sympathise with you, I really do, as you can see I've been affected by similar issues - unfortunately its a necessary movement for the time and society we have.

Yeah but when airsofting you should wear the safety googles, I do when I'm using pistol, either that or sunglasses. I'm pretty sure that any rifle or shotgun you buy comes with a set of safety googles (not pistols).

Btw yeah the 0.2g are awesome, when I went against my cousin I gave him my two pistols and I took the shotgun. As soon as we started he jumped for cover behind an upturned table, as I started shooting I hear him yelling 'Ahhh stop this s***', I was blowing chips off the plastic garden table and scaring the hell out of him :D

itÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s almost impossible to kill someone with a BB gun? #-o

I'm fairly certain I could.

How do you think you would do that?

Mike, not many BB guns are used in robberies and you can easily tell if it's a BB gun or a real gun.

Load the gun, shoot the guy in the mouth (Assuming your close enough.). Or you hold the victim down and shoot them right in the temple. Even if the thing does not break the skin, it can kill a person from being struck by such a force in that area.

Right up the nose. Soft tissue presents no barrier to a BB at pointblank.

Ginger covered this well enough, BS (although you did miss the royal assent and enforcement by the secretary of state Ginger, but nearly there)

The 1979 Red Rider I have can shot rocks+metal BB's and will penitrate the skin. If i hit anyone in the right place I could seriously injure and or kill them.*

Also the Red Riders in 1979 look excatly like a rifle from 1979 so obviously someone would get scared.

*In 1979 the U.S had lose BB gun laws and the power of so was not limited. Also in 1979 the BB gun was for shoting cans not people.

It whould ban any American for life getting any type of firearm, if they been giveing any type of mental disorder designation.

Oh, the humanity!

Edit: Ah, nice little editing of your post before I got mine out. I see what you did there.

It does.

[hide]Hundreds of thousands of veterans -- from Vietnam through Operation Iraqi Freedom -- are at risk of being banned from buying firearms if legislation that is pending in Congress gets enacted.

How? The Veterans Disarmament Act -- which has already passed the House -- would place any veteran who has ever been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) on the federal gun ban list.

This is exactly what President Bill Clinton did over seven years ago when his administration illegitimately added some 83,000 veterans into the National Criminal Information System (NICS system) -- prohibiting them from purchasing firearms, simply because of afflictions like PTSD.

The proposed ban is actually broader. Anyone who is diagnosed as being a tiny danger to himself or others would have his gun rights taken away ... forever. It is section 102(B)(1)©(iv) in HR 2640 that provides for dumping raw medical records into the system. Those names -- like the 83,000 records mentioned above -- will then, by law, serve as the basis for gun banning.

No wonder the Military Order of the Purple Heart is opposed to this legislation.

The House bill, HR 2640, is being sponsored by one of the most flaming anti-Second Amendment Representatives in Congress: Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY). Another liberal anti-gunner, Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT), is sponsoring the bill in the Senate.

Proponents of the bill say that helpful amendments have been made so that any veteran who gets his name on the NICS list can seek an expungement.

That is horrible. I can see some mental conditions being blacklisted for obvious medical reasons, but people with post traumatic stress pose no danger to themselves or others. This, however is a bill I don't see passing. The republicans, along with a band of pro gun democrats, will stop it.

Like Bubsa, I'm eagerly awaiting your justification for that statement, seeing as one of the symptoms happends to be "aggressiveness".
