Begin Raising combat or skills?

Recommended Posts

Im gonna start devoting myself to alot of runescape so my question is: is it better to raise combat and make money of monster hunting, or raise skills and use those skills to support raising combat later?

Please post your advice and at least a good reason why.

Thanks

If at first you dont suceed, then you fail.

Well, IMHO, at lower levels you can raise money far faster

with skills than you can with monster loot.

I suggest raising mining first.

Mine iron and then eventually mine coal.

Each coal ore can sell for ~175 gp

Use the money from selling ores to fund better gear.

For example, a single full inventory of coal can earn you about

what it takes to buy a ruby amulet of strength.

Hope this helps

You can make much more money, far more consistently skilling, such as rcing nats, than monster-hunting.

If you get extremely lucky, you can mkae morem, but its not very consistent.(ie. godsword drop)

If you're going for pure money, raise a non-combat skill. It is FAR more consistent other than the market prics of the items used, whereas fighting monsters relies almost 100% on luck. This also depends on whether or not you are a member, in which case fightiing monsters becomes exponentially more profitable, but so does skilling.

The choice remains with you.

Good Luck with whicher choice.

Do whatever suits you, whatever you enjoy doing most. No point in training a skill or combat if you're gonna be bored. After all, RS is meant to be fun.

Your question is just like asking 'what should I wear to school tomorrow' #-o

I think it is better to raise your skills first. For example, you will have food to cook. You could smith your a weapon and an armour!

It would be easier to train!

Yes, exactly right

At level 86 combat, you do have a small chance at some very decent drops that you cam sell.

But, if you want steady money...

then skilling is a better, perhaps boring, way to go.

Hope this helps

Eventually you should plan on getting both combat and non-combat skills high because that lets you access a maximum of this game. But the order in which you do them is up to you (although keep in mind some skills help for other skills, like fishing helps cooking or combat/farming help you get herbs for herblore)

The skill set-

untitled-8.jpg

Hmmm, attack, strength, defence, hitpoints, etc all seem to be part of the skill set.

Combat is skill as well, I agree with smither. Good goals to start off are all quests complete, or all skills 60+. Both are not hard, and they open you to each skill.

Have fun :)

I am not a skiller, but i do some skills.

Just do questing, and train your skills high enough to do all quests (gives you the benefit of getting arround faster, some decent rewards, and isn't always the same)

if training cb: just do slayer

it helps if you got some skills to get you food (either fishing and cooking yourself or rc-ing and buying the stuff)
