Addressing the Woodcutting Bot Problem: Wield Your Axe

Well I suppose this could probably be put in a new thread but I don't have time right now.

Everyone who says you can't stop the bots with a cmbt lvl requirement is absolutely right. The only way it would work would be if you may the lvl req. so high that it made the bot get caught before it got to that lvl, which would totally piss all the legit low lvls off.

My solution (this is the part that prob needs a new thread) is for Jagex to create a new higher class of player mods that has the ability to ban. These would have to be VERY carefully selected and well informed of the seriousness of the responsibility. These player mods could then stake out the usual bot spots at their leisure and machine gun ban all the ppl they are fairly certain are bots, these bans would then be reviewed by Jagex to ensure no skill pures got owned in the banning. Also the mods could have some sort of tool that would allow them to view the servers data on how bot like the characters activity is. Basically the idea behind this is supplementing Jagex's mod force without them having to pay more for dedicated "bot police".

And since I know skill pures are going to throw a tantrum over this, I say take the time to make your character not look like a bot. If your too lazy to raise your lvl over lvl 3 thats your problem.

Oh wow. Something obvious just occured to me. REQUIRED BANK PINS. But of course autoers could identify the numbers. Which is why we use basic computer shortcomings to defeat that, have many different graphics for each number (like fancy 1, green 1, blue 1, etc). While they MIGHT find a way around this judging by how computers identify faces etc. this would totally kill the bots as half the time they would get stuck on the bank pin. It wouldn't be that big of an inconvenience and would help the game alot.

Premptive apology. I'll make the body of this into a new thread. Consider this a quoting of it lol. Srry for the rant but I'm sure you'll get some ideas from it.

^ Meh, that may work, or Jagex could just make a new engine and throw all the bots off again... Or create a decent automated macro-detection program that works.

Anyway...

Well, the general answer to skillers and pures when they complain is that if you deliberately ignore part of the game, you can expect part of the game to deliberately ignore you.

Although I forsee a LOT of complaints if this goes through. You could just respond that most of the fun in a skiller is the challenge of doing it with such a low combat level. Well, now you have the additional challenge of crappy equipment!

Well said. You skill? You now also deal with the crap lv 3's that dont drop trade go through.

Lol, level 3s get enough crap, no more is needed. Honestly. And Mayjest, that wouldn't be 'part of the game' ... That would be 2/3 F2P non-buyables. <.<

Again, leave combat as far from skilling as possible, they're 2 different things. One may compliment the other, but dictating it to an extent as this thread suggests is absurd.
