Rs2: Blaming Miniclip For All The Evils Of Runescape

I don't think miniclip is entirely responsible but you know things are bad when you overhear a conversation between two players about their awesome toontown accounts

(I'm not sure what toontown is exactly but it sure doesn't sould like something mature people would play :-w )

Completely agree....I remember when I first came here 6-7 years ago...RS was completely different. I can't stand this game anymore. I was starting to play less and less...but with the recent changes (Pking-main thing I joined game for), this game is not anything what it used to be.

I'm sure miniclip had something to do with the decline of RS. It was either miniclip or some other site.

Well, I found this game through miniclip, and that might be why so many noobs play today, but i'm one of the people whos always having to teleport around because someone somewhere needs my help and I know few other people are going to help them.

When I started, I figured it was easier to just make my own money rather then beg and complain about everything, even irl, i don't speak to anyone I don't need to, or ask anyone for anything, but that's for reasons known to few people. Point is, not everyone who found this through miniclip is part of the noob problem.

Anyone can push the "Yes, I am over 13 years of age button" and tick the "I have read the terms and conditions" box.

well now we should all get ready to start blaming wildtangent for the next big load of noobs because jagex signed a nice little agreement that allows them to tell distribute runescape throught their gaming network. one the according to wiki reaches 20 million consumers Pcs. Erm wow.... But meh I am skeptical of all the old players claiming that miniclip is the root of all evil.

I haven't been playing runescape for years like some people on this forum, so I can only listen to what people are saying it was like and form my own opinions. I personally believe after reading this thread, that there were always beggars and scammers in runescape but back then there weren't so many people playing, so there was a small amount of them and they weren't that noticable, but as the game grew so did the amount of scammers and beggars. With more players you are going to get more beggars and scammers and now we have got to a point were they don't outnumber us, (tip.it is proof of that) but where they are more noticable because they generally try a lot harder than the average player to get themselves noticed.

You can't blame Miniclip for everything. They still had scammers, botters, and stuff back in classic. As rs grew, more people played, good and bad. Miniclip just allowed more people to play the game.

So you can't blame EVERYTHING on Miniclip  As much as you want to find a reason, blame human nature rather than something that also brought plenty of honest players to the game.

I learned of Runescape through addictinggames, and my best friends learned of Runescape through Miniclip.

Miniclip isn't to blame for the evil. What about the parents? Bad kids shouldnt be allowed to play. Parents are the ones who have control over whether the kids have internet, and the kids who are allowed are causing havoc because their parents don't care.

Might be confusing, but you'll get the point :-k

Miniclip didn't ruined RS in anyway. I discovered RS through Miniclip. At first people were really nice talking to others and occasionally helping. But as time progress people made friends that they met when they were lower levels. They now have friends online and want to skill and hang out with their friends. People don't have time to go and help around everyone that ask.

Jagex made the Knowledge Base to help out the new players that joined, they even advertise it. But yet players are now lazy and don't want to look up the info or do anything themselves, they rather ask others.

And don't say anything about the players that are less then 13 years old, they often time play only for a little bit and don't stick to the game that long. Most of the players on RS are around high school age and the higher levels ones with high total levels are often times adult. How do you expect someone of for example age 35 to talk about pokemon with a 13 year old? How do you expect a older person to talk to someone who uses words like dawg, etc.?

You see, miniclip didn't ruined RS. Its the wide variety of ages and maturity level on RS that caused you to view it differently. People still are nice to others.

And yes, I do try answer people questions in game when i'm not busy but as for helping with items and moving around, I just don't have time. <3:

Runescape did have its fare share of immature players back in the day, but Miniclip made the game unbearable to play.

It was really the only reason that I quit the game... it was just getting way out of hand. I have NO PROBLEM with kids playing video games (especially a family-friendly game like runescape) but when the kids are PURPOSELY acting like brats and calling people "lol YOU ARE A NOOB LUZL1" then its annoying.

many people are saying that back in Runescape Classic people would almost always help someone when asked by a lower level player, and that younger kids ruined this, and they may have but not in the way you think. The problem with lots of younger kids is that if they are helped by a person once, they will constantly ask for help over and over again, not taking the time to learn how to do something or to level so they can do the task themselves, and getting constantly begged by lower level character to please do this or please do that is just plain annoying.

Also I do not believe that Miniclip ruined the game by introducing younger players, because I know many people who play on miniclip when they are bored or have nothing else to do, not just younger kids, so I think the statement that miniclip ruined Runescape is wrong. but what I do believe ruined ruenscape is the fact that younger players have begun to outnumber the more older and mature players, and while a 18 year old may very well use offensive language or be a total [wagon], it is more often seen from a 11 or 12 year old (not saying there are not exceptions) I have been playing this game for the better part of 5 and ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâý years and the game I started playing and the game I play currently are very different in the mature level of players.

Another issue I believe is that the lower level players outnumber the higher level players drastically, making it harder for the level 90's and such to leave a good example for the new players.

At the end of the day you're just a fat man with an over-inflated ego, a balloon just waiting to be popped... and me?... I'm the needle.

Give me a break!!!!!!

Maturity level? Current players of RS just haven't been around long enough to remember the rediculious immaturity of players in the first few years of the game.

Before there was gang Pkers in RS, there were gang harrassers. Any female character was fair game for many individuals to mock, make fun of, make dirty jokes about or threaten with killing in the wild. (And Back then with only 9 servers it wasn't hard to find someone who jumped servers to get away from harassment.

Runescape is popular. it spreads by word of mouth as much as any advertising. Whole families play the game(and are usually the better behaved players in my opinion)

Anytime you have expansion in a game, like in sports, the talent pool thins. In the case of games, talent and maturity are about the same. The more people play, the more immature people get into the pool of players. And everyone knows the bad apples get most attention.

Almost every online game you go to you will find a forum with exactly the same thread, its a result of progress and evolution. My kids introduced me to RS, its now a family affair for us. I find the level of offensive language and immature behavior has remained proportionate to the total number of players. Fortunately the majority of the name callers and idiots get bored very quickly and leave. I simply use the ignore list a lot more these days! As to the idea that RS is just a "kids game" well thats crazy, there are loads of subtle things in the game which most under 16's would never understand. I think the best way to describe the current problems is "RS is a victim of its own popularity".

Now where did I leave my pipe and slippers?.......

Yeah runescape is full of kids who got there parents to pay for runescape with their credit cards and it automatically renews every month without the parents knowing it would happen and the little kid gets members forever. None of this would have happened if rs wasn't on miniclip and the little brats discoverd it. And Schoolastic wouldn't of made a fricking book on runescape that says it's for 8+ year olds!

Also if that quote is from december 2006 then it's inaccurate since well I started playing 11 months ago and people were the same as they are now unless it happened in a month's time..

PLEASE tell me you are joking and schoolastic didnt make a book on rs  and how can they say its 8+??? you have to clarify that you are over 13 to play...

i,ve been playing on and off for about 2 years(mostly off,as i only have access to runescape when im at friends' houses, and i want to keep my friends ;). like many other ppl have said it was just as bad back then as it is now,but in my experience the worst abuse comes from those who are a higher level than me and think this gives them the right to be abusive and contemptful.im not even going to bother outlining the ridiculousness of this position :x

also are ppl aware that runescape is available via MoFunZone as well?

well written. it is just bad that jagex had to change the whole game just because there are players that dont play by the rules.

its not fair that even outside the real world the good people suffers of what the "bad" people do...

i think thats like the main reason that so many people are pointing at the kids, the 12 year olds, that are now the main population of runescape.

but, as you kindly told us, its more our fault, we stopped helping each other out. jagex doesnt want to destroy runescape, they want to restore it to its glory in the old days.

they want people to gain trust in each other. to lend eachother their stuff again, with the new updates that will come, there will be no scamming availble. there will be no goldfarmers and no botting, as they can't sell their stuff anymore.

i hope that people will see this, that jagex isn't trying to ruin the game, but to make it better.

Miniclipers>club penguin :-k >nuff' said...

I think it did draw in alot of idiots, but hey maybe it drew in even more legit players? =\

I loved the club the penguin game, it got me through many unbearable com-tech lessons haha.

But yeah, as for miniclip being the reason for all the immaturity on runescape I do agree in some ways, it does attract immature people who do ruin the game for alot of people, but if it was'nt advertised on miniclip then runescape would not have half the amount of players it has today, both immature players and the players that do enjoy the game and dont just annoy people.

Just my two cents.

yes, i do beleive that miniclip brought in a lot of younger, less mature people, but it also brought in a lot of more mature people too. it brought in even amounts of both. personaly I can't be mad at them, because my real life friends and I are all Miniclip "noobs". most of the people from the miniclip time that were acting all "in your face" are gone, but when they had been here for a while and still acting all "kung fo" they influenced the new RuneScapians to act all "in your face" too. so in conclusion I beleive that MiniClip is partly to blame, but it is only a small percentage of the small problem.

Sadly, I had only played 3 months before rs was introduced to Miniclip.

I Don't really remember the golden age. :(

But, somebody did give me a bronze chainmail on my first day, and I was really pleased.

Its rare to find things like that happenning now :(
