...but I need info! I tried searching the internet but it doesn't show the things I need. :( So why not turn to Tip.it? <3:

-How much does it cost: just the standard 'default' 360. No pro or elite, just standard? And does it come with a controller?

-What IS a harddrive for the 360? The way it seems to me, its some sort of Memory card like the PS2...do I really need it? Or does it come with the standard package?

-What are the methods of getting Xbox live and how much does it cost? (I never had Live before)

If you can answer these questions, THANK YOU! :D

I don't own a 360, but this is what I can gather.

The set you are talking about, the arcade which is currently the cheapest: is 279.99 USD. This comes with a controller, a memory card, and few arcade games that can be played on live. I'm pretty sure all 360 system come with a free month of gold membership on live, but don't quote me on that. Elite and pro have both a hard drive (elite is bigger then the other) and hd-dvd drives instead of normal drives.

The hard drive dosen't come with the arcade one, but pro and elite have it. It is not totally necessary, although you do need at least a memory card to save. there is only something like 256 mb or something in the memory card while there is like 20gb (im just guessing) in the hd (like 180gb in elite). You do need a hard drive if you plan on playing normal xbox games on your 360.

I have no idea about xbox live. I had it for 1 year back when it was only xbox.

$350-It's the pro one I think, but trust me, it's worth it. I think the only other one cheaper is the Arcade one, at like $280.

It's a built in memory thing for game saves and music/downloads. Unless you download A LOT, you'll never need another storage device.

It's $50 a year, $20 for three months, and theres some month by month thing. You basically just plug an ethernet cord into the back of your 360. If you have wireless, they sell a $100 adapter, but I'd only use it as a last resort.

Hope I helped.

- I have the standard one which costed me around ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã200

- Sadly it does not come with the standard packaging, but it's like a memory card but can store more info (i just buy the MU, same thing but doesn't store as much info)

360 is really worth it, but really don't get a 360 other then the pro or better.

Maybe a friend could help! :D

I just got mine yesterday, along with a year of Live, TDU, and Halo 3.

1.) Yes, the standard (which is referred to as the Xbox Live Arcade Console) comes with a controller, and that's about it. However, if you hurry now and get one that has the holiday bundle offer, your Arcade console will come with a memory card (which is a down-sized version of the HDD [harddrive]) that has an arcade game on it (like Pac-Man). You can find an official list of what each console does and doesn't have here.

2.) I would say yes. You don't necessarily need to go full out and buy the

120GB harddrive (why someone would need that much storage I'll

never know), but the 20GB harddrive is essential if you want to save

a lot of games, get a Live account and browse around on the market

place.

3.) Each Xbox 360, even the arcade I think,comes with a 1-month trial

of Xbox Live Gold, so you can see if you like it there. Personally in my

opinion, it's where the great potential of the Xbox 360 lies. A Silver

membership is free, and only requires a connection and a HDD, and

it allows you to create a friends list, send voice and text, track your

achievements, and access the marketplace. Now, if you want to play

games online, or send video messages/chats, you'll have to 'go gold',

buy: paying a monthly subscription of $7.99; buying a month for $7.99;

buying 3 months (price not sure); or buying a full year (around $50).

It's a deal to buy in advance, as it's almost half the price to get a full

12-year subscription ($50) than pay monthly for twelve months ($94).

All in all, the Xbox 360 is an amazing console when you get it hooked up

to live. Throughout my life I've been a Nintendo fan but yesterday my

perspective changed a lot.

A little late, skillcaster's post and link have all the relevant info, but here's a second opinion.

-How much does it cost: just the standard 'default' 360. No pro or elite, just standard? And does it come with a controller?

Technically, the standard 360 IS the Pro package. But the Arcade one costs US$279, and comes with a wireless controller. In addition there's 5 arcade games and a 256mb memory card, as already said.

-What IS a harddrive for the 360? The way it seems to me, its some sort of Memory card like the PS2...do I really need it? Or does it come with the standard package?

A hard drive disc (HDD) here is the same as the one in your computer. It's like a memory card, but it has MUCH more storage capacity. The HDD's in 360's have the benefit of being portable as well, unlike your computer's, or a PS3's.

It is most definitely needed. I doubt you're buying your 360 to play arcade games (the 256mb card is the bare minimum Microsoft is offering, since the other memory cards sold separately are actually 512mb. It's just that Xbox Live requires a storage space, so this is an excuse for one), so for real games and their saves/downloads and whatnot, you'll need the memory space of a full size HDD. If you plan on using your 360 as an entertainment center (music, pictures, and all that), then you'll need an Elite's 120gb HDD. Believe me, I only have 4 games for the 360 and I only have 7 gb space left; that 256 mb card won't get you anywhere. And it's better to get the package deal, since they cost $99(20gb) and $179 (120gb) separately.

-What are the methods of getting Xbox live and how much does it cost? (I never had Live before)

Methods, as in plans, or connectivity? You can buy the 12+1month card for $50, 3month for $20, and 1month for $8. You could always use a credit card of course, just hook up Silver version, and purchase Gold through there. As for connectivity, you could use a wired connection from your modem/router to the ethernet port in the back of a 360. Or use the rather expensive wireless adapter to connect to a wireless router. If you need anymore help with connections, ask, it's a pretty broad topic.

Life is a joke. Yeah, I don't get it either.

-version of xbox

-whats an hd

-xbox live

The Arcade version of the xbox 360 comes with a few arcade games, a 256 mb memory card, and I believe a month of Xbox Live Gold. Personally, for $350, I'd recommend the Xbox 360 Pro. It has a 20 GB HD, which can hold a LOT more than the memory card can. It also comes with 2 Xbox 360 games, and one arcade game (Hexic HD).

The HD is a storage device for the Xbox 360. You have 2 kinds of the 360 HD..the 20 GB which comes with the Pro, and the 120 GB which comes with the Elite. The HD will hold a lot more stuff than just a Memory Card, especially if you plan to download content. If you plan to play Original Xbox games, then you'll need the Hard Drive.

As for Xbox Live, there are 2 editions. Gold and Silver. Silver is free...hook up the 360 to the internet, make an account, choose silver, and you have silver. Silver Membership allows you to communicate with friends and download content. Gold Membership allows you to do everything with Silver and Play games online. To get gold, you have to hook it up, and then either choose a trial, or redeem a code online or on your 360 from an Xbox Live Gold Membership Card.

Hope I helped.
