Am I The Unluckiest Runescape Player?

Recommended Posts

Ok, maybe that's a little harsh, but i'm getting a bit fed up with it now. I've been playing the game since 2005 and as you can see by my signature below, i've not spent it messing around.

However, i have never had a decent drop (i.e. better than rune) in my three years of playing the game, and it's not for lack of effort.

I killed fire giants from level 40 range to level 70 range (i was level 80-odd at the time, i started range late) and my best drop to date is a rune scimmy. Just the ONE rune scimmy. Now as you can see, that's a lot of fire giants.

I did slayer for 6 months non-stop so i could get to level 65 and kill dust devils. I was level 99 when i started killing them and i'm now level 104. Fair enough i've not killed JUST dust devils, but i've killed enough to warrant a decent drop (i.e. a d chain). My best drop? either a handful or Rune Javelins or some Rune Arrows a few times.

I did a load of barrows runs when it first started, apparently there was a mistake in that you had a 50% chance of getting a d helm - what did i get in my first 50 runs? Runes. No dragon armour, no barrows items.

I absolutely love doing clue scrolls and i regularly spend time killing harpie bug swarms so i can do the level two clues - on my best day i did 12 clue scrolls in one day! my best reward? God Pages. :notalk: although having said that i have got all three completed god books as a result of clues.

And just to round things off nicely.... these are drops received by my r/l girlfriend abbie372, who's been playing for about 18mths:

level two clue scroll at lvl25 combat - ranger boots

level two clue scroll at lvl40 combat - ranger boots

fire giants at lvl80 combat - dragon spear

iron dragons at lvl95 combat - dragon plateskirt

numerous barrows runs - full ahrim, full guthan armour, full dharok.

i just want a dragon drop. :XD:

Thats nothing special :P 99->104 cb @Dust devils or 40->70 range @fire giants isn't actually very much.

dragon drops aren't that hard to get. in the first 2 days of hunting metal drags, i've already managed 5 raw dragon drops. (1 leg 2 skirts 1 med and a spear.)

do some metal drags! :wall: you will get a drop if you know the best ways of killing them  .

Yeah, i'm equally unlucky...

Over 200 clues (lvl 3) with nothing better than rune plate or sara page 2.

However, you do have afew of your numbers out of line, like the 50% dragon med drop (more like 5%) and expecting to get a d chain from dusties without killing over 20k of them before beggining to wonder whats up.

Yeah...Some people just go out of their way to ruin other peoples fun.
Sounds like Jagex to me...

i have killed metal dragons as part of my slayer, i've had both 100+ iron and steel but i've never actually hunted them.

i've done a load of level three clues as well as i regularly kill the black dragons in zanaris with my trusty d hally, but i've had nothing worth remembering from them.

my worst clue drop of all time is 10 trout, but i think i did get a blue beret once when i was a very low level.

hally = no no to black dragons. i would recommend range if you had the appropriate level.

well i'm 77 range but i cba with it, it's most definitely not my fave skill. with my hally i can quite regularly hit 20+ so it doesn't take that long, plus it's easier on the wallet when it comes to arrows, etc. (i don't have much cash lol)

i've been playing since '03 and i've gotten 4 d meds from barrows, and 1 skirt from steel drags, which i sold at a 400k loss, because of all the pots i'd used.

i think i've gotten 4 rune chain drops from black demons, and 1 rune scimmy from fire giants, and i've never gotten a rare/semi rare drop from a slayer monster.

i did get ranger boots from a clue once, when i was level 77, but back then it was hard to get 750k for them.

other than that, the most valuable thing i've gotten from a clue would be a sara kite, sold it for 500k, and i went from 80 to 100 combat training on jellies, doing every clue drop i got, so theres no telling how many clues i've done.

oh yeah i sold my yellow p hat for 26m.

clap clap for the handicap. #-o wish i'd kept it.

Hey I'm not very lucky either, I've been playing for nearly 4 years and it took me 3 and 1/2 years to get my first dragon drop which was a spear (nearly impossible to sell and worth under 100k).

I had also killed over 2k iron/steel drags without a dragon drop until my last iron drag task from slayer where I got a D skirt which has been my best drop on Runescape. (300k wow!)

The fact is, some people are lucky and others arn't. All you can do it keep on trying...

Lots (and i mean lots) off lvl 3 clue's best reward, sara dhide body.

I got my first dragon left half @ 88 slayer.

Im still waiting for my first dragon med.

Over 1100 iron dragons without a dragon drop atm.

Just keep killing, and they come when you dont expect it.

My best drops so far

Robin Hood hat (lost during a server crash long ago, was in range of blue dragons when I picked my loot)

Ahrim's Hood

Guthan's Spear

Karil's Crossbow

Dragon legs

I am like some kind of mutated monster with random drops doh

And I only got like 5.5 mil in the bank, and I still do not own a whip. When I look at lower levels who got like full dragon and a whip, I feel sad...

Bah, the best drop I've ever gotten is an obby cape. How did I get the rest of my 35m fortune then? Skilling. Rare drops are rare drops, getting 40-70 ranged at fire giants without a d med is kind of unfair, but not impossible in any way.

Sure they're nice when you HAVE LUCK. I'm on 1.5k+ dry streak at metal dragons since getting Dlegs back in JUNE (and i do slay them a lot...). Don't think everyone has your incredible luck....

i've just come to the conclusion that my rings of wealth are completely pointless, i've sold and made new ones just in case but i'm on about my 15th one now.

And apologies for posting this in the wrong forum, it wasn't meant to be a rant but i guess i just got carried away.... :XD:

I killed dust devils non-stop from level 98-107 combat before I got my chain. If you just keep trying you will get it eventually. Just don't give up.

rings of wealth? just use an unenchanted diamond ring. any gold jewelry will help you get better drops. Maybe the ROW is not working for you.

Ive been playing since 2004, and my best drop is a rune med, not from lack of trying. With about 3 years of that time on my p2p account.

I went from 79-88 Range mostly at Dust Devils, thats around 2mil Range Exp. You don't get much good drops, although you do get quite a few alchables.

Kill Black Dragons with Mith Bolts (make them yourself) and Rune Crossbow, that way you don't spend much except time making them, and its quite steady profit selling hides and bones. Don't go expecting a Visage, they are rare. (Although I was joking with a mate about what I'd do if I got one, I showed him).

Might be worth your time to stockpile on Eggs, evil chicken's lair is a good place to kill them. Take like 2 Lobsters or something with you just incase. Though I'm not the best guy to talk about killing Black Dragons.
