Gang Violence And What It Can Stem From

Recommended Posts

I Post this thread in order to get a message across to those who haven't experienced/lack the knowledge of what a gang can do and how it affects those at the core of it, as much as those as far away as possible from it. I'm not here to preach, just to inform, and hear your advice and stories.

Gang's manipulate, corrupt and fester in many modern day societies, infact there's one in every city on earth (except possibly the vatican). I've witnessed first hand the ferocity and ruthlessness of gangs, and I think I can help others from witnessing your friend being shot in a drive by, or your cousin macheted while eating a burger after work. They are simple minded, yet so very complex.

I think they are a stain on the world, and show's that people really are born bad. Parenting is a major part of it, but only so much can be done. They start young, and usually finish young due to the lifestyle and reputation that comes from being in a gang.

I want to know if anybody has advice on how to get out of one, how one works or just to state their opinion and whats on their mind.

Thank you.

I Quit. You should too.

The only ways out would probably being dead, or running away

See, that isn't always possible.

It depends on what kind of "gang" it is. The yakuza, for example have ties all over the world, and thus would be near impossible to escape.

On the other hang, to escape the "Goodna Boys" (a gang here in West brisbane) it would only require a location shift to another suburb

It is all really dependant on how strong the gang is, both in power and size

You mention the vatican not having any gangs.... i disagree i beleive its home to one of the most powerfull factions of a large gang!! Catholic Christians... They controll many things and many peoples lives....

As for getting out of a violent gang i would suggest re-location... If you are talking about a bunch of petty thugs that your involved with around your area (like the ones that exist in england) then i would suggest standing up to them, They are not big or clever or powerfull they might think they are Big fish but only in a very small pond there is always people more powerfull and nastier than they are and you should remind them of that! If your not scared they tend to leave you alone as they feed on peoples fear! Absolute scum of the earth!

Very few youngsters, if any at all, join gangs for "lifestyle". You've skipped major research done on gangs and youth in the last 30 years. Look into the life stories of people who end up in gangs, how their parents were like (or the lack of parents), having abusive relatives etc.

Even kids who are living pretty normally at age 7 can be in a gang by age 17. Nobody is born to be a gang member or thug. Everyone who is in them usually wants to make enough money to disappear, which leads to the following problem:

Once you're in a gang, I don't think you can just "leave". It would be much harder then that.

Exactly, you don't just "leave" a real gang (not that group of 5 tough acting neighbourhood kids, I mean a real organized crime group like mafias, the MS-13, Yakuza etc.), criminals have advanced a lot with the advent of technology and easier transportation.

God forbid a gang 'deserter' ever gets in jail again, or even if he doesn't, he's looking towards a constant life of watching behind his shoulder or not being able to sleep at night without fear. Most people can't leave a gang which just leads to further trouble even if they're willing to stop a life of crime.

In all honesty, gangs in the thug sense are anywhere that a) people are desperate for money, or B) where the lowest common denominator is in full force. I'd say that the best thing you would be able to do would be to pack a weapon appropriate to the chosen type of the local gangs. That way, you can defend yourself without being in trouble with the cops.

If you really want to fight the thug gangs and whatnot, then the best thing you could do is to fight fire with fire. Get a group of people in your neighborhood who are tired of that bulls***, and make your own to keep the nasty gangs out of yours. The more experienced the members are with combat, the better. Just make sure that you don't go down to their level. If you wish, you can make it known that your area is a neutral zone (you can come and go as you will, but any fighting is prohibited inside the border).

The Yakuza qualifies as organized crime not a simple gang.

Oh and they do have witness protection program.

The police would just arrest them. The only way to stop gangs is extermination. My old town knows what it's doing. They have a serious policy about proven ang members. SHOOT ON SIGHT. Here's how it works with arresting.

hey guys, this is a very informational page, and it taught me what to do if i want to be a gang banger. it also has a page that shows the gangs in every state in the US. ( and also DC, which has the most gangs in the country) its crazy, there is a gang for every street.

Leaving The Street Gang

Getting out of a gang can be as violent as joining. Many gangs require lifetime memberships.

Many street gangs require the person, wanting to depart from the gangs way of life, to endure a "beat out." This beating frequently is more severe and more injurious to the member than the beating he/she may have taken to join.

Although it is not a "beat out, the new article below, with video, shows the severity of the beatings in which gangs of youths may become involved.

that's the scary things about gangs though...sometimes authorities arent strong enough to stop them alone...we have SEVERAL gangs here in toronto, mainly high school gangs consisitng of 300+ people across scarborough, police alone have tried several times to stop em, but theyre still at large...it troubles me...

I mainly agree with you.. Gangs give people a sense of belonging and purpose, and sometimes people join gangs just for protection against another gang.

It might be alright for when you got a week or 2, but I can guarantee you won't get much help on the spot. And can you really expect that there aren't any crooked cops or something similar? There's a limit to what the police can accomplish, and I don't think there's any legal problems with getting a group together to defend yourself and others from the nastiness of the bad gangs. It's like the local karate dojo helping out random people they see being mugged. Just calling the po-po and going back to your business won't stop it immediately, and there's no guarantee that he'll be caught. I'd prefer to just get a posse and show the little [puncture](s) how to fight like men.
