I'm thinking the CoD Series might have a chance at stardom now that Halo's over. The game series seems to be in chronological order (first the World wars and now Modern Warfare). Perhaps they'll make a future version of CoD and it pretty much becomes the new Halo?

Otherwise, pretty much any decent FPS can replace Halo. Halo is seriously overrated.

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Apparently a lot of people say it. I own.

Halo may not be over. Bungie is no longer with Microsoft. They could easily create new games on the Wii or PS3.

But, Halo is a Xbox ONLY game. It will always be. Nothing more than Xbox/Xbox 360.

And, if you haven't heard, Halo was originally designed for the Mac.

You got him wrong. He's saying that Bungie can now create games for systems other then Microsoft now that their independent from Microsoft Gaming. The Halo name and brand is property of Microsoft as far as I know and will remain an xbox/PC exclusive.

The reason why I think Halo is a league of its own is because when people come over to my place, we're not stuck playing offline. I can bring 3 other people online. It's one of the reason why I really enjoy the game. I don't even play ranked games unless I'm dragged by my (rl) friends.

The gameplay really is average, but it excels in the online experience.

Project Reality is where it's at. Assuming EA aren't cheapskates and allow mod's to get ranked servers for their own sub-set ranking seperate from Vanilla/SF/AF/EF... which will never happen unfortunately :(

Well...The ending has a cliffhanger for another game where you save the cheif or somthing. But in my mind I think they are still going to continue it.

Would that Andrew be me

I'm always up for some Legendary campaign with friends, it's my favourite part about the game, next to messing around in Rocket Race/Custom Games with friends. I just wish they had in-game achievements, like and increase in the score you need to get for the meta-game (i.e. 30,000 points for Step II instead of just the 15,000 for the Live achievement). It would be a cool way to introduce more armour permutations.

Most annoying achievement to get = We're in for some chop

This is based mostly around luck for me, because it's freaking hard to kill a chopper with a trip-mine (This is the easiest way to do it, on Tsavo Highway) Three quarters the time you either release it too late, too early so that the chopper actually realizes it's there and avoids it, or the chopper manages to survive. Then it's a hike back to the turret to get another trip-mine.

Now for a rant, still on the topic of trip-mines ;)

THE TRIP MINES IN THE BETA WERE WAY BETTER THAN THEY ARE NOW. I mean, those things were like magnetic Frisbees. You go off a grav-lift in Valhalla, throw one, and it attaches itself to that Banshee that was terrorizing your team. A few seconds later, BOOM. Or you throw it on a warthog so that it stays underneath and hidden. Next thing you know, a minute later you get a triple kill out of nowhere, or a triple betrayal, getting you booted.

ON-TOPIC:

Halo 3 will not be taken over, because I have not seen anything Sci-Fi Multiplayer FPS that matches up to it. Granted, there are multiplayer FPS's that blow it out of the water (COD4), single player Sci-Fi FPS's that do the same (Bioshock, Halflife), but there is nothing like Halo, with it's history, community, and fanbase that outdoes it. Oh, and the screaming 12-year olds on Xbox Live are not the fanbase or community, they are the players. Fanbase means that they actually played Halo:CE, not that they bought it cause people said it was good. Community means that they actually talk to other people about, discuss strategy, take their time to Forge maps, create game types, and actually appreciate the others around them.

I admit, I am a bit of a fanboy, I mean, I was really hyped for the launch, especially after seeing how good the Beta was. At first I found no problem with the game. I loved the campaign, I loved multiplayer, I eventually found a love for Forge. Then I began seeing the faults, after a few months. The melee system could use a few tweaks, and even after those it still does (Instead of having double-beat downs when there is no significant winner, why not make it a stale-mate, like with swords or hammers [And with hammers, I do not think they applied the tweaks, because they worked off the same system, and by this I mean the actual attack, no melee]), needlers are still over powered, match people with the same connection speed together, not a group of well-connected players with a single person who uses the wireless adapter, there is no point of ranked, why bother? I always thought this game was rated mature for a reason, to keep out the annoying little kids (I have no problems with the little kids who are actually mature), I don't care if you're a girl, lets just play and have fun (So far there has only been one girl gamer I've met, the ones who actually felt the need to point it out, that I actually liked), why does Forge not have a 90-degree/exact angle tool? Why is it so easy to glitch a box through the floor when you aren't trying to do so? Why, why, why?

Despite all of these, I still prefer Halo 3 multiplayer to COD4 multiplayer when it comes to playing with friends. COD4's seriousness is what makes it a good game, but at the same time Halo 3's "do anything" attitude makes it a great game. The best comparison I can give is WoW versus Runescape. WoW is obviously the better game, but Runescape gives you much more freedom than WoW, where most of the game is about fighting. In Halo, you can do more than just killing, although that is a main thing. You can have variations of standard games, like Cop and Robbers being varied from Zombies (A nice laid-back game type coming from an often hectic one), Racing from Escort or King of the Hill, and then there's the very creative game types, like Urban Freeflow (A VERY hard obstacle course) and I've played an attempt at Duck Hunter.

Basically, if you're going by serious, hardcore gaming for an FPS, stick with COD for taking up Halo's mantle (Or more, looting it from Halo's burning house), but if you want a game with incredible free, I haven't seen any FPS to beat Halo.

There's no such thing as regret. A regret means you are unhappy with the person you are now,

and if you're unhappy with the person you are, you change yourself. That

better you. So really, a regret isn't a regret.

The thing people don't get is that Halo is more diverse than just a "shooter"

You can't compare Halo to those games, because Halo is more than just about shooting the crap out of each other. There's the various achievements, forge, custom games, theatre, etc. that makes it more varied. Not to mention the streamlined online connectivity not just for you, but your friends also.

OT: I just got lieutenant rank LOL. finally, those "why aren't you a lieutenant" cracks will stop

=What I said in a few sentences

Halo 3 is all about what a game should be: having fun with friends. I'm not saying it's wrong to have fun by yourself, but having fun with someone else opens up opportunities to have more fun with your friends (Inside jokes, and such). Basically, I think that games should be a social experience, where you are able to show other players who you are. In COD4, I barely ever hear people talking, and I rarely talk because of how serious the atmosphere is in the game lobbies and throughout playing. Inversely, Halo 3 has such an unrealistic atmosphere that I can't help but talk to the other players.

Off-Topic: I love wireless controller+headset, it's like a phone with multiple lines that my sister can't be constantly using. Plus it is fairly hands-free (Just put the controller in my pocket).

Back to Halo :ugeek:

COD4 is the best gameplay I've ever experienced (Because I don't play PC games), Halo is the best online gameplay I've ever experienced.

'Nuff said.

i agree with aquariusman (splitscreen live is just awsome). However, saying that there is less talk on COD4 is bull. Almost everyone has mikes in COD, when on a couple per team have it for halo 3.

I don't see why most people don't have mikes in halo, the 360 came with it. And although the talk isn't social, there is still more chatter than in halo.

Because Halo was totally the first game to have a map editor and custom games. #-o Seriously, having a little map editor and people come up with custom games does not make it "more then a shooter" and it is laughable to think so.

I mean, I remember trying my hand at making maps back in the days of Doom. Also, the UT series is much better than the halo series, although UT3 didn't do very well. UT2007, or whatever it was, is so much better than Halo in so many ways. Oh, and it has maps and custom games as well :o !

Not even going to go into a game that spawned hundreds of mods or "custom games" from it. Likewise I won't try and egg into your head that it is a 10 year old game now.
