Commando1213
[Rant] Parents nowadyas need to F-ING GROW UP and realize that their kids are FAT, LAZY, STUPID AS A ROCK, DO DRUGS, WACK OFF EVERYDAY TO PORNO and BLAME THE INTERNET WHEN THEY GET CAUGHT!!!! (well, not all of them) their kids are NOT little F-ing angels and ARE NOT PERFECT!!!!!!!!![/Rant] OMG  did i say that out loud -.- CRAP :-# Anyway, i dont swear alot and neither do many kids. Besides, what happens when all of a sudden, you are a Wcer with 10 def and 10 hp and you died while showing off your awesome full Blk (g) that you just bought and you get killed somehow. Some ppl just need to rant and scream and cuss all day just because 5 months of wcing just went down the drain. BTW i do support :D
Will H
This would work. (I'm really tired of stuff like suck and crap being censored) But this could easily be changed, the only way to ensure that your 13+ would be make a skill testing question that anyone 13+ with an average iq should be able to answer. Also, you should also have to answer a question when you create an acount. (put something under the answer box like, "Parents, please don't answer this for your child, this game is ment for teenagers 13+"). Thats the solution for age identification. It's impossible to filter underage kids who want to appear over 13 (that being most of them) and kids who are actually over 13. The Internet is a free database of knowledge, and you don't have to be over 13 to understand how to google any question thrown at you. Putting that aside, you can't convince a child to press the 'child' button when they could just as easily be tempted by the juicier 'teen' or 'mature' buttons placed next to it. And anyway, I can almost guarantee an emergent culture which shuns all use of 'child' level censor and dislikes use of the 'teen' level censor. Not only that, but communication may be difficult between players at different censor levels. A sentence rated 'mature' when said to a player at 'teen' level would be starred out. Therefore the 'mature' player would have to use a 'teen' rated sentence in order to communicate, destroying to purpose of using the 'mature' rating. Same goes if you replace 'mature' with 'teen' and 'teen' with 'child'. Finally, believe it or not, most people don't want to hear people swearing. ~ W ~
Hawks
I support this due to the fact that the idiotic sensor blocks STUPID, STUPID THINGS!! I would most definitely set it to Teen so I can understand what the heck people are trying to say! As time goes on it'll just get worse, more things will become censored, and Jagex will have to do this in order to prevent people saying: Buy*** 15 lo*****! Wa** 2 t**** ergh i hate evil censor. but i don't want to listen (see?) people swearing their faces off. sig by Soa.....tip.it times.....art & mediadeviantart/flickr/last.fm/steam/twitter/tumblr/youtube
Killy_the_Kid
I never thought this topic would resurface again, but it has. Stay down, topic! Haha. Now to take care of some things... Commando1213, as much I adore your support, that textual filth you glued to my thread is unwanted and unnecessary. Don't do it again. Update: Support List! I had the coolness of not putting one before, but now... I'm... uh................ Support List! Yay! *confetti* As for the age-proving quiz, yes, anyone with a finger on one hand can get the answers from the Internets. But, if the kid's so dumb (or god-honest) as to put real age instead of just making himself 13 or 18 right away, it's not needed. But the questions could be things only that age and up would know, such as pop culture-related or historic questions. Hyt Chat FOREVERI have quit RuneScape. Killy_the_Kid
-Another addition to the Parents Vs. Jagex thing- If your trust your child so much as to let them go on the Internet, where Godknowshowmanymillions of BAD sites are accessed in 10 seconds and minimised in 2, and then complain to some British company that your kid is saying "dubble yoo tee eff," that's just good ol' fashioned bad parenting. Miner_Guy
It would never happen. Young people might accidentally or on purpose set the bar to mature or teenagers, they then might say the F word to their mum and then their mum want find out about where he was getting that language from..... Then jagex would get angry letters from mums.
BNCBot
Theres no need for you to cuse anyway. But some words are censored that shouldn't be. Anyway why would people want to hear your filthy language? You can cuse and it's starred and you can't get reported for it as Jagex said. So dumb idea no support. No one wants to hear peoples filthy mouth and it's not needed at all. It's only filthy if they make it filthy. There ARE ways to use words that are totally clean. For example, eating a "wiener" in your hot dog, gently petting your "[kitty]" (A reference to a cat that has been filtered by the Tip.It Language Filter... Thanks a [bleep] lot, Tip.It!!! :x ...), trying to feed a squirrel some "nuts", and even tossing "balls" through a hoop. Everyone who reads this should notice, in each example, I stuck quotes around the word that would be questioned... However, each example shows proof of cleanliness in the usage of the given word. Master_Smither/runescapew44, you really should support this!!! ~Mr. D. V. Gehackte
I would like this because for dutch people you cant say some words and stuff wich are normal... and that is so anoying you want to say something for example the word: "Hoe" wich means "How" is censored. I don't know why to me it seems like a normal word or just some random letters in english, but they just censor it. away with the censoring:P How does 20 minutes turn into 2.5 hours? Was your math perhaps magical math?
DAE2008
How about adding a "Parent Lock" option, where the parent changes the level and locks it with a 4 number code, just incase little Jimmy learns any words.

Killy_the_Kid
I really need to figure out how to perfect the age-divining (finding out) system... I have a couple ideas, such as a simple intelligence quiz, or some pop culture-of-that-era trivia... Maybe if my brave and attractive supporters can brainstorm up some ideas, we can together finish the last step in making this implementable (putting-in-able). Hyt Chat FOREVERI have quit RuneScape. Brinner
Only good way for the age thing is the sign up age (except if you can do some real life age check). But I support, you can't even say 'friggen'...which ******* ****s (friggen sucks).

tard53
why must you say swears in the game anyway? if you really need to swear because you died or something yell it out in your real life house? Unless you have a voice activated censor in your house that gives you a little shock after every swear word you say and somone overheard you in the other room and decide the shocking is a little harsh but still punishes you by taking away your membership or computor you should be fine. BlueLancer
The chat censor should be an option that can be turned on/off. It's quite embarrassing the most childish game in the world, Habbo Hotel which is for 8-12 year old kids.. Has the option to turn on/off chat filter. Yet a fantasy game such as RS has an overly sensitive chat censor which can't be even turned off.

RuneScape is designed for Teenagers, and I sure the majority of the community are teenagers, we are old enough to make the decision whether we want to have the Chat Filter on or off and we are old enough to look after ourselves and handle most situations. Furthermore, I agree with tard53. Who actually swears in game now days? I have never done it once, because there is no need/desire for me to do say. I can out wit arrogant people with the use of clever language the resorting to making myself look like a jerk, and swearing. My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.
Wizz
Ugh FINALY! mott555
I really wish they'd do something like that. Lately the chat system/report abuse/appeal offence system has been a bloody mess, and I think the only way it'll get better is if Jagex stops targeting little kids and actually has real people read offence appeals. Personally I'd like some mature worlds where you have to prove you're 18+ (using a credit card or something) and then the offensive language and personal details rules (and possibly the censor) don't exist on those worlds. I'm sick of getting black marks because some little kid reported me for asking my IRL friend when has to work or something like that.

Brinner
I support. The dang censor is friggen sensitive (you can't even say "friggen", but you can say "freaking"), I would like it if it was optionable. I sure hope it will be in MechScape, but I doubt it will be.
