Prologue-1.png

[hide=Introduction]Hello my fellow tip.iters! Looking to train your range level? Are you envious of that range cape? Or desiring the notorious Fire Cape? Although my guide says “Complete Guide to Range,” it won’t be starting from level 1. My guide is not intended for beginners, but of people with the minimal range level of 40. (Although your range maybe 40, my training spots may not be as efficient for you as compared to rock crabs. )

This guide isn't your typical guide saying, “From level 10-20 do this, 20-30 do this, etc”. This guide will talk about monsters best for training your range and collecting a few goodies along the way.[/hide]

[hide=Updates]May 10, 2008 The Special Thank section as been added along with a few other things *Points to table of contents . Within the first two pages I had already gotten some great feed back and suggestions. Scroll to that section to find out how to get your name added there. <img src='http://forum.tip.it/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/eusa_dance.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<img src='http://forum.tip.it/ipbnew/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />/' />

May 12,2008 The anticipated F2P section has been added! I figured that a F2P section would be more important than adding more monsters for P2P. I never really figured my guide would turn out like this, being very successful and popular. Thanks for the feedback and keep them coming. Next on my list will be charm droppers.

May 21, 2008 The Charm dropping monsters on the guide have been identified. For each monster identified, a small charm list has been added to its section. This is a lead up to the Charm Hunting Section that will be released and help ease anticipation for an update. I’d also like to recognize RyderJ, he has given me a lot of help, support, and suggestions.

October 2, 2008Wow...just wow. It's been an incredibly long time since I've worked on this guide. Working 40 hours a week, keeping up with foot ball, training for boxing, and setting up the DMR has kept me very busy. And I apologize for neglecting this guide. For about a month or so, I started to drift away from Runescape. Just started taking a break because I began to loose interest. But now with so many new updates, I'm hooked again. That means I'll be able to work on this more often, hopefully. But now to the point! I updated the guide, giving it a nice new sleek look. I also gave Kent a banner, and working on his second. But the more important thing is he Dragon hunting guide. It will talk about most dragons, but mainly Blue, red and black dragons. Green dragons are inefficient at this level. I've done the bulk of the work and I'll have it posted by this weekend. Momentary, the Aiming for Wealth Section will temporarily be removed; the Dragon section is replacing this.

That's all i have to say for now, so stay tuned.

October 2, 2008The Dragon section has FINALLY been uploaded. Sorry that it took so long. I took a break from Runescape, and practice, work, and my personal life has been taking up a lot of time. But what ever, it's been uploaded. If you notice, I have a monster over view and drop list for every monster. I plan on updating methods for some of the sections, mostly Aviansies and the speed training section.

______________________________

December 23, 2008 Mid terms are finally over. I managed to squeeze some time in between working, spending time with family, and diving. The aviansies section has been updated and you won't be disappointed. Also, I did some other tweaking in various sections of the guide.

That's all I have planned for the future. Thanks for reading. <img src='http://forum.tip.it/ipbnew/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_upup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':<img src='http://forum.tip.it/ipbnew/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='^_^' />:' />[/hide]

I will be constantly updating this guide, adding new monsters, adding any missing information on current monsters, and adding new tips. This guide is constantly being updates. In the title, you may notice the 1.0. That shows you the version of the guide. Minor updates count as 0.1 and major updates count as 1.0.

General-Items-1.png

[hide=Equipment]So, before you go wandering off into deathly caves and death reeking dungeons, let’s talk a little about what the best or substantial equipment we’ll need. It’s much more than your average bow and arrow. For most of our training, we’ll be using a set up similar to this. If any additional items are needed, it will say so in that section.

Range-Equipment-1---black-d-hide.gif

For most of our training we will be using something like this. Nothing too fancy, yet effective. I had Full Armadyl, and didn't notice much difference in how high I hit. Other then training against things like caged orges, I prefer using steel arrows, mainly because of the accumulator. If you do not have steel arrows equipped, the arrow goes to your inventory; which is bad for two reasons. One, it takes up space, and two, I find it very annoying having to drop them. Now my attention turn the to ring of life. Some of you are probably think, "Psh, what a noob." I like the ring of life because of the many tight situations it saved my butt during lag. So, its up to you whether you prefer an archer's ring, wealth, or the ring of life. You can also change anything you want to your preferences, such as knives when fighting Yaks.

Void---rune-c.gif

This is my favorite outfit to train range in; because of the slight increase of experience I can get in an hour. The rune cross bow can be replaced with a MSB and steel arrows or a bone cross bow and bone bolts.

F2P-set-up.gif

This is for F2P and F2P only! You can change whatever you want really, except for the dragon hide.[/hide]

[hide=Inventory]When camping, or any other long activity, space can be vital. If you follow these guide lines, space shouldn’t be an issue anymore. Also, now that summoning offers familiars such as the yak pack and terror bird, inventory space is now even less of an issue.

This set up is intended when using a safe spot or against something such as Yaks.

Inventory-1-1.png

What I have in my inventory is 2 range pots, an Excalibur, 6 baskets of strawberries, house teleport tabs, and alching runes. There is one very important thing I want to talk about, the strawberries. A lot of you use bones to peaches, which is great…until you need to collect bones. The bones take up most of your inventory space, and the only other way to not take up a lot of inventory space is collect less bones. The problem with using less bones if that it will start making a dent in your profits. A strawberry heal 6 hp, and each basket can hold up to 5, which makes ts better than sharks. You should note that you should only use strawberries when you’re using safe spots.

This set up is intended for more combat, where safe spots are unavailable.

Inventory-2-1.png

In the inventory I have 2 range pots, 2 super defense pots, house teleport tabs, and alching runes. By now, I don’t think I need to explain any of this to you.

Inventory-f2p-1.png

This set for F2P. Instead of bringing lobsters, you will probably want to bring Tuna and rather than a fishing pole and bait, a lobster pot. Just remember that not all fishing spots will give you lobsters.

This inventory is used for camping.

Camping-Inventory-1.png

Depending on what you’re killing you may want to add alching runes.[/hide]

[hide=Sacred Clay Armor]There's been a lot of question about it, I know I was very curious. With the right knowledge and some practice, using sacred clay armor can get you second fastest experience per hour next to chins. There are lots of different arguments for using and not suing sacred clay armor, so writing an organized paragraph would be very hard. I'll just put them into bullets for you.

Pro

¤ Doubles your experience

¤You only need to use one one piece of the armor (helm)

¤ Reasonably easy to get

¤ The only reason why a cannon can be effective for training

Con

¤ Defence bonuses are the same as green dragon hide

¤ Attack bonuses are the same as green dragon hide

¤ The rounds for stealing creations are 20 minutes long, excluding waiting time

¤ Degrades quickly, you need to stock up on helms

¤ Restricted to safe spotting

summonbb9.png

Heyyyy. I would like to point out some CC about the new section.

In combination with a cannon, the amount of experience you receive is tremendous. Instead of only 2 experience per hit, its 4.......... Using sacred clay armor is the only reason why I would use a cannon to train.

I find this very interesting. Why only mention the cannon, when it increases Range xp from normal training with only the Bronze knives? Sacred armor lasts for a certain amount of xp, so I don't see how it specificly benefits the cannon.

hitting a 25 is very common

This is false. Hitting 25 on a Yak is just as rare as hitting 25 on a Black dragon, as long as you hit. So you should revise this to "you should hit common", because that's the only benefit Yaks have.

You also didn't mention how long the helmet lasts. I'm almost certain that the sacred armor definetely isn't worth obtaining, as the time spent obtaining the helms far outdoes the time saved from training. I would suggest you do some calculations to see how much xp it lasts for, and compare it to how much longer it lasts if you use the top, chaps, and helm together to see if they are worth getting.

Good luck on perfection. :thumbsup: <!-- s<3: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_love.gif" alt="<3:" title="Love" /><!-- s<3: -->

Sheesh, you HAD to put that you have defeated king phyto, huh?

Yeah, I did some estimates and a fully charged piece of sacred clay armor lasts for 20k experience. The armor can be used with any type of training, but cannoning seems to be the only practical use. Using the simple bow and arrow is alright, training will be a bit slow, and if you use it while chinning, your sacred clay armor will last you a good 15 minutes. Cannoning yaks seemed to be that good median between the two. Knives would work, but its even better if you use it to compliment the cannon. Some yaks are in positions where the fence blocks them.

I liked the questions you asked, I hope you don't mind if add that into the section do you?

In combination with a cannon, the amount of experience you receive is tremendous. Instead of only 2 experience per hit, its 4. On low defence monsters, such as yaks, hitting a 25 is very common as well as shooting multiple balls at a single target. It's not common, but you can kill a yak, with only one rotation of the cannon. At the same time, using bronze knives to attack the yaks out of range of your cannon helps getting you more hit points experience. Using sacred clay armor is the only reason why I would use a cannon to train.

[hide=Optional Equipment]This section will talk about optional equipment if you can't afford or wear anything I've already listed.

Helm: Armadyl Helmet, Void Ranger Helmet, Robin, Archer Helmet,

Cape:Ava's accumulator, Fire Cape, Ava's attractor, any other cape.

Amulet: Amulet of Fury, Glory, Amulet of Power, Amulet of Accuracy.

Body: Armadyl Chestplate, Void Body, Karil leather body, Dragon hide body.

Legs: Armadyl Plateskirt, Void Skirt, Karil Leather Skirt, Dragon hide legs.

Weapon: Discussed below.

Ammunition: Discussed below.

Boots: Ranger Boots, Snake skin boots, Frog Skin Boots.

Rings: Archer Ring, Ring of Wealth/life, Duel Ring.

Shield:Unholy book, spirit shield, anything that doesn't decrease range bonus, none.[/hide]

[hide=General Weaponry]In Runescape, there is a wide variety of ranged weaponry, and they cannot be rated from best to worst. Although some bows maybe faster than other, they may not be as good when used in a different environment.

So, I will list the general weapons you will use to train with.

Knives: Knives, the two knives you will us to train are either iron or bronze. These are used on something with a very low defense and respawn quickly. Iron knives can be purchased through the G.E. for about 40 G.P Bronze knives can be purchased from Martin Thwait at the Rouge's Den for 14G.P. Use iron knives if your accumulator can pick them up and use the bronze knives if your killing something in a cage, or something that prevents your accumulator from picking them up.

Also, I use black knives if using knives to train. I get them for free while killing cyclopes for rune defenders. They’re very good against monsters such as fire giants.

Bows: If you're training with a bow, you will use the magic short bow and nothing but the magic short bow. It has a high range attack, cheap, and can easily be purchased through the G.E. Do not use crystal bows, Dark Bows, or anything below the magic short bow for training. Bows are great because they're universal and can be used to kill most monsters.

C' Bows:Two and half words, Rune c' bow. This should be used to kill anything that your normal bow cannot (efficiently). Because of rune c' bows, crystal bows and karil's bow have become nearly obsolete. Use this when ever fighting high level monsters such as blue/black dragons, demons, or pretty much anything. Like the magic short bow (MSB) these are universal and can kill high level monsters and other monsters.

To save money on bolts, use the Bone C' Bow. These are very cheap, and bolts cost only 2 gold pieces through the G.E. Do not use these to fight things like dragons. These are the equivalent of steel bolts. You can also replace bronze knives with these. Use this on monsters where your ammunition cannot be picked up by your accumulator.

Ammunition:There is a wide variety of ammo you can use, but to train cost effectively, we are somewhat limited. Nearly 90% of the time, I fletch my one bolts and arrows,. If you're using your rune c' bow, broad bolts are the best way to go. They’re cheap and are just as good as addy. The only time you your going to use anything other than broad bolts is if your enchanting your bolts.

There are three types of arrows you will train with. Bronze, Iron, and Steel. These are very cheap and feel free to use them at your disposal, just don't go over board. The reason I have steel in here is because your accumulator will not make those annoying arrows pop up in your inventory.[/hide]

Tips-1.png

[hide=Safe Spots]This guide is great for information on safe spots. My guide doesn't talk about safe spots, only monsters that are best to train on. So, this will be very helpful when fighting.

Safe Spot Guide[/hide]

[hide=Using the Ring of Wealth]There are a lot of debates whether or not the ring of wealth increases your chances of better drops. Most people conclude that the ring only increases your chances of “minor good” good drops, which seems logical. So, I would recommend that you use it if your fighting a monster that drops a lot of rune or alchable items. A place where you wouldn’t use it is against DKs or something extreme like that.[/hide]

[hide=Cannons]Cannons…what can you say about them. Big, bulky, very heavy, and it can turn you into everyone’s arch nemesis. I’ve tried a cannon once, and it was a waste of money. For such little experience, it costs a lot. You only receive half the experience per damage compared to if you were using a bow and arrow. (So if you hit a 10, you only get 20 exp rather than 40) Another reason why I don’t like the cannon is that you receive no hit points experience. And to top it off, cannon balls aren’t exactly cheap.[/hide]

[hide=Slayer]Slayer is another great alternative to train your ranged. But it does have its down sides. For one, the black mask’s effects only work if you are using melee. Another reason would be that most people tend to use a cannon if they use slayer as their range training method. The good side is that there are normally safe spots where you can range from which allow you to finish your task without having to bank and some monsters use mage attacks. This allows you to utilize your range amour, and mages tend to have a low range defense, which makes them great training.[/hide]

[hide=Free Arrows]When we're out about training range, those dang steal arrows that keep popping up in our inventory gets extremely annoying, doesn't it? Wouldn't it be great if we could actually use this as a benefit? Well, its pretty simple actually. When ever you skilling, farming, wood cuttinging, fletching, or what ever it is, keep a steel arrow in your ammo slot, and wear dragon hide and the accumulator. After those long hours of skilling, those arrows will really start to add up and are useful for training on anything with a low defense.[/hide]

More tips to come!

Speed-Training-1.png

With speed training, you are normally ignoring drops and most of the time even losing money. Although it has a big price tag, the rewards can be amazing.

[hide=Yaks]

Yaks-2.png

Yaks drop Yak-hide, Raw yak meat, Hair, Bones. Their hide can be made into armor, which gives pretty decent exp, and their hair can be made into rope. You can normally rake in around 40k exp here in an hour. These give 200 experience each.

Yes, those are black knives. You can replace them with whatever you want, but when it comes to speed training, I love black knives. With void, I can constantly hit 10-12s. You don’t really need any food here unless you’d like to throw in a few range potions.[/hide]

[hide=Red Chinchompa Locations]I don’t like the idea of range being this easy. If you’ve looked me up, you would see that my range isn’t 99. But if you are still interested in using this technique, I’ve listed some pretty good guides I’ve found. Using chins like this can get you about 200k exp an hour! But it is VERY expensive.

These drop nothing. You can get about 50k-60k experience here. These give 200 exp each, but you are continually fighting these because these are aggressive. The great thing about this place is that is easy to multi task, like watching videos. It‘s also rare to find other people here, so no competition.

Additional info: Once in a while, they will stop attacking you, just walk past the door, then walk back in.

Blue-Dragons.png

Ah, blue dragons, one of my favorite training spots, even for melee. They have a fiarly low defence, you can left click them, and they're easy money. This guide requires that you have a minimum of 65 agility for blue dragons to be effective; to use the obstical pipe. Because of this pipe, you can to the blue dragons in a fraction of the time then it would take to have to walk all the way around. This also makes getting to blue dragons faster than walking to green dragons. The only down side to this location is that its normally crowded unless you're playing at an unusual time. Not to worry, my guide will show you how to snag those dragons before other people. If you don't have 65 agility or if Taverly is too crowded, there is another place you can go. The Orge Encave, which is in the hide tab below this. It's not as efficient as Taverly, but still better than green dragons.

This shouldn't be anything knew. If you want, you can replace the emerald (e) bolts with addy or broad bolts. If you noticed, I have curse spell runes. That is how you're going to get those dragons before anyone else. I recommend curse spells over those strike spells because this can actually be used. That 5% defence drain is alot more useful than a splash. That's a summer pie

in my inventory. It increases your agility by 5, which is why you really only need 65 agility to use the short cut. The pie also heals 22 hp, 11 hp per bite.[/hide]

Ah, the red dragon. What makes these so great is that they're NEVER crowded. Also, there isn't a large supply of red dragon hides, which makes these hides sell instantly. The only down side is that they're harder to kill and get to. I don't reccommend using unless the blue dragon spots are really crowded These are still better than green dragons. I would reccomend you move your house to Brimhaven, which will make getting getting to the dungeon a lot easier.

You can get to Brimhaven by either teleporting to Ardougne and paying 30 gp to sail to Brimhaven, or teleporting to your house and exiting, which I recommend. Just follow the map to get to the dragons. Just remember to bring atleaste 875gp to enter the dungeon.

Nothing special about what you wear. I would reccomend using addy bolts instead. The inventory is a bit more important. If you're commin from Ardougne, then you need 905gp, but if you're using your house, then just bring 875gp and the runes. You need the axe to cut through vines, so don't forget this. Always bring tabs if you can. They save space and are a one click telly. Something I always bring.[/hide]

[hide=Black Dragons]

Black-Dragons-1.png

To be honest, I enjoy black dragons the most. Although it takes a quite longer to kill them, their hides sell for around 5k each, and are very easy to sell. The ones we’ll be killing are located in the Evil Chicken Lair. The best thing about the black dragons is that because they take a bit longer to kill, there is less banking involved. Combined with a spirit terror bird, you’ll be there pretty long. The down side to black dragons is that their range defense is higher than blue and red dragons. For black dragons, I would recommend 75+ range.

You can replace the anti fire shield with a prayer book, but I use it just to be safe. Also, your going to need fairly strong ammo. In this pic, I’m using emerald bolts(e); which is recommended. Compromise, the title itself explanatory. This is the medium between quick experience and good drops. Although these monsters do not drop d legs or a dragonic visage, you can still rake in about 40k along with anywhere from 50k-1000k

[hide=Aviansies]

Aviansies-1.png

Aviansies, one of my favorite monsters to train on. Along with a huge chunk of range exp, you can make around 300k-400k per trip here. I’m sure most of you have read other guides about killing these, but quite frankly, I don’t like their methods. For one, the large amounts of p pots you use will make a huge dent in your profit, along with making inventory space even more of a problem. So, when I train here, I like to use a “tank method.”

This is what I now use the kill aviansies. With this set up, you're able to tank, and at the same time maintain a strong range attack bonus. If you like, you can swap the granite shield for the dragonfire shield. If you already have an obby shield, you can use that aswel, the granite shield is just more cost effective for what we need.

Feel free to take more or less food. When you inventory starts to get cluttered, use a beast of burden. Bloodvelds are one of my favorite monsters to train on, mainly because of their very low range def and very high hit points. They give 480 experience each and drop many alchables that range from steel armour and weapons to adamant. A few other notable drops they give are half shields, half keys, rune meds, various runes, and big bones.

Additional info: 50 slayer is required to kill these. 60 slayer is recommended if using the shortcut. (For nose pegs)

These guys were released when the Legacy of Seagraze was released. These guys are have nearly the same range defense as normal Bloodvelds, but they have more hit points, and safe spots are plentiful. Not to mention the better drops, and the some what easy access dungeon they're located in.

Additional info:You must have finished the Legacy of Seagraze to access these. You also need a minimum of 50 slayer. If you like camping, then this is an ideal spot for you. Just bring fishing bait. On the north side of the cavern that the mutated bloodvelds are, there is a pile of fishing rods, and to the east, near the skeletal hands, there is a fishing spot, so be sure to bring some logs and a tinder box.

These guys are located in the Meiyerditch Caverns. There are two ways to get there; actually three but I doubt you'd like to run through the complicated streets of the Meiyerditch Ghetto. The quickest way there would be to enter the second crack in the wall in the cave behind the Pub in Canfis. The fire giants will be hunting are at the Baxtorian Falls. The reason here and now the smoky dungeon is because here, you don’t need to wear a face mask, which gives you a higher range bonus, and two, it has less requirements. Also, since there have been less pures, this place is nowhere near as crowded as it once was. These guys give 444 experience each. These also drop many seeds, herbs, rune items, and alchables. Also, there are many safes spots here you can range from.

They too can be used for training, but they are about 5 combat levels higher than the Ice Giants and have a better range defense then Ice Giants as well.

Also, I’d like to give a big thanks to RyderJ on this section. Thanks a lot man for all your help and time.

Black demons, our prime target for charm hunting. Black demons are probably the best crimson charm droppers in the game. Our location is full of safe spots as well and normally isn’t crowded. These guys drop a good amount of rune items that easy pay for bolts used and can probably make you a profit.

Additional notes:If you’re wearing void, it would help to use a curse spell on these guys. Lowering their defense can make all the difference.

I recommend these over Black Demons for ranged purposes.

Shadow warriors, you’re probably thinking why are these here. Well, once upon a time, I was assigned 124 shadow warriors from little ol’ Chaelldar. When I had finished the task, I was surprised to find the amount of charms I had accumulated. Total, I had 42 charms. And 26 of them being crimson, and the rest green and gold. Now if you do the math, that quite a lot of charms for something with only 67 hit points. Not to mention all of the herbs and mithril bars I got along the way.

I’m sure everyone who has completed Legend’s Quest know where shadow warriors are, but then if I didn’t tell you were they were, this wouldn’t be a guide, now would it? Well, I start off by using the glory in my house to teleport to Edgeville. From there, I take my lunar staff and head over to the fairy ring across the river. I get wizzed away by magical flowers and butterflies. I then use the fairy ring and enter B-L-R and poof! The butterflies and flowers have taken me to the Legend’s Guild Gate. From there I proceed through the gate, open the large doors and down the stairs to the left. Run past the pit scorpions and around the fence and presto!

Equipment

These guys are only level 48, so them hitting you shouldn’t be too much of a problem. Just bring a few range potions and an Excalibur if you want.

[hide=Special Thanks]I'd like to thank these people for contributing to the guide.

RyderJ – This guy defiantly needs to be recognized. He has by far contributed the most to the guide. Has provided the most suggestions, support, and courtesy.

Inuashakent - Suggested the Charm Hunting section along with a new good charm droppers.

VJuliusT - Helped correct a part of my guide; spelling.

Tip.it - Images

Want to be listed here? Just submit something, and if i like it, I'll add it to the guide and your name will be put here. Spelling correction do not count. <img src='http://forum.tip.it/ipbnew/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_exclaim.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':!:' />[/hide]

Well, I hope that you’ve enjoyed reading the guide just as much as I’ve enjoyed making it. So now that you’ve read it, please leave feedback. Also, could to tell me if there are any typos or grammatical mistakes.

[hide=Recent Updates]The aviansies section has been updated. A lot better gear for more efficient killing and a new inventory set up. Also, a new tip on gathering free arrows. Enjoy[/hide]

[hide=Previous Update]The Guide has been tweaks again. You'll notice a new banner for a better first impression, and dividers to help make finding each section a bit easier. I'm still working more updates. I took about a month and a half break from runescape. That's why this guide has been updated often.[/hide]

Hey, I see this guide's back, and with charm hunting too. :D

Anyway, greaters are actually useful at Gu'tanoth. They are caged, but that means you can max range bonus. Laws only cost 350 gp, which is very cheap for crimsons. I would use bronze knives there as you can't get your ammunition back.

Other than that, I don't see why anybody would range greater demons, even if there is no other way.

for the equipment pic for greater demons, thats a godwars dungeon ranger setup. Also you could change all the inv pics to display what they are actually supposed to be, because it confused me for a sec. ( before I read the text underneath)

Hmm, I never really though of that spot. Every time i got there, I find it very annoying to have to telegrab everything. I suppose Greater aren't really necessary. Thanks for the tip.

Extremely good guide, just note that hide tags inside hide tags doen't work anymore. I look forward to more updates here, and I've bookmarked it. ;)

I've noticed that, and I plan on reformating the guide this morning. The though of someone bookmarking this makes me feel appreciated and is more than just a thank you. Good luck with your training. :D

I suppose I could edit some inventories. But when you spend more than 2 1/2 hours photoshoping pictures, the though of having to chnange more pictures is something you don't want to do.

Thanks for the feedback. :)

Full void on dusties = nono. :P You need that facemask. Even using a safespot, they usually hit you once. And that lowers your stats by quite a bit.

Equipment needs tweaking on most of these, but I'm so very glad to see this guide back! =D>

Yeah, thanks for pointing that out. :D

Guess that must have gotten mixed up. Also, I lost your PM about em from the roll back. :c But yeah, take a look at the aviansies pic, much better than before.

D'aww, shoot. I put a lot of work into that. :P

Mmm, yeah, you did make them a lot better. But you still need to put a little bit more thought into each monster's miniguide thing. :)

Here are a few teeny tweaks I'd do:

Call this setup something like "average ranged setup", and then on each monster say if they're better to use Void on, or if you need the ranged bonus, instead of having all equipment setups as similar as they are.

For Aviansies: Zammy/Sara dhide top and bottom with a granite shield, Verac helm, and Arma pendant works best for most people. The zammy book adds too little offense, when that spot can be replaced with a Dfire or granite shield. Chaps in place of the Verac Skirt add a lot of offense, which is nice.

Mention different ranged weapons. Bronze knives with a Zammy book are awesome cheap training on low-ish defense monsters. The Rune Cbow is amazing on high defense monsters, hitting even Barrows Brothers with their super high defense very often. Mith bolts are the commonly used ammo, but addy aren't that much more expensive, and hit very high, so you could consider using those on monsters that give you a little more income.

Check out the Mutated Bloodveld, for their seciton. They have higher hp than the slayer tower ones, are even easier to safespot, and have better drops, while their ranged defense stays quite low.

You might want to put in a few favorite safespots, instead of directing them to the other guide. Black Demons spot here, by the way. And you'll want to use a Rune Cbow against them. Bone is way too slow, and you can't take full advantage of the very common high hits. They have low defense, but they ARE level 172s, so not weak enough for knives/bone bolts.

This is getting so good. AoW for sure if it gets finished. :D

I have a few things to add to this. I agree, I found most of those monster sections a big short.

I find mutated bloodvelds just like black demons without the charms. Plus, it requires a quest.

You might want to add ranging waterfiends, it's decent. I've never tested it so I can't give any solid evidence however...

Once again you've helped a bunch with this guide; and I really appreciate that. I'll be sure to add that safespot for black demons. Thanks for the feed back and I'll be sure to update the equipment for each section.

Well, thanks Ryder and Kent. A lot has been edited, especially the equipment section. I've also tweaked some equipment sections for a bunch of monsters. I've also added the mutated bloodveld. I was waiting to put it in the high level section, but i guess not. More feed back is appreciated :D . :ugeek:

wouldn't it be better to use addy bolts at black demons. They're near the same price as emmy (e) and the poison doesn't give range xp

S_I_G.jpg

Those with a little bit of knowledge are more dangerous than those with none.

I've noticed something. You only bring 2 range pots per trip. When I camp at monsters such as Black demons, I bring up to 15...

Food isn't required at all, because if you camp somewhere long enough, they won't attack you.

Not only that, but Addy bolts are better in general at Black demons for their accuracy.

#1, If you pick up ranarrs+ and random event items, like I do, 14 range pots are too many. I only do them on slayer, which would be about... 170 per task, we'll say. I usually *just* have enough inventory space to pick up the last good drops, as long as I bring alching runes for chainbodies and such. Depending on what level you pot at, it could be better to just bring 6-8. 15 is way too many. :P

#2, Addy>emerald, yes. But higher quality bolts don't give better accuracy. Only higher hits. In ranged, the bonus from bow and armor give the Attack, whilst ammo gives Strength, to mix metaphors. :P Ranged level giving both, of course.

#1 If your going there with slayer, the 15% bonus from a black mask makes ranging pretty useless there. Random event items aren't worth banking most of the time. For ranarrs, I pick them up when I have room and I alch the alchable.

#2 Doh #-o Thats what I meant

By random event items, I mean, like, 4k iron arrows from a maze. Or noted toadflax. :P And I only like killing them on assignment instead of camping because I personally dislike almost all non-slayer combat. It feels wasteful, you know? Plus, ranging them is so much better for them than melee, as they have safespots, a rune cbow almost always hits them, and you don't need to pay for ppots. Killing them will always be slow, and range isn't that much slower than melee, if slower at all. And each task is a very nice chunk of experience. I check how much I've gotten every once in a while, and am always surprised. :P

I know how you feel about wasteful, the only monster I'll ever camp is probably Mages, and Waterfiends.

And it's only comparable without the black mask, with it, melee is just so much better. I think I'll just get all my range xp from a cannon.

Cannons are for neebs. ;)

No HP exp and half the range exp as well.

Yeah, but you can't chin Kalphites and Dagganoths. :D

Edit: You might want to edit out the cannon part. It's always worth cannoning during slayer tasks.

I never use chins to train. You and Ryder keep talking about how I should change emerald (e) bolts for addy bolts (which I have) because of how much quicker and more experience you get, because it doesn't poison. Wouldn't saying use a cannon to train be contradicting yourself if your trying to get as much exp as well as cost efficiently?

And in turn multiplying your SLAYER xp massively. This is for slayer only.
