Addictions

Runescape really does dwell on the addiction formula more so than any other MMORPG I've seen. I mean, answer me this (to those who still play this game):

When you are doing something, like tradeskilling or leveling, do you activly pay attention to your game?

I'd be willing to bet that most who play the game have a ton of different forums opened and just switch back to RS to make sure they don't log out or to switch trees (or whatever). Half of the time there is no reason to even play the game if you're just browsing online anyways, but you feel compelled to need to level your little dude.

At least in other MMOs (Who still can grab those with addictive personalities) you pay a bit more attention to the content.

No more addictions anymore 100% clean and straight edge - Over a year now

Was addicted to gambling, alcohol, cigarettes, cleaning and weed.

I don't gamble, I don't drink, I don't smoke, I clean when I get around to it and I don't do drugs.

Computers...Definately....Fixing, using, programming, tweaking, buying..All of it. I can spend hours upon hours on the computer, and most of the time not gaming either.

Gaming. Mostly on the computer (although GH and GTA [all versions] are exceptions). Spend a lot of time on various games, although I don't play RuneScape anymore, I am getting into World of Warcraft, and I play Frets on Fire (GH emulator), and Stepmania occasionally (DDR emulator).

Gambling. It's not really a severe problem, yet, but I do enjoy the risk. I don't do it often, but if a card game presents itself, and I have some spare money, I'm usually up for playing.

Alchohol. I don't really drink much (mostly because I'm underaged), but I'm not exactly one to turn down a drink (save most beers, only a few have actually passed off as decent, but never great). Although I've never been piss-drunk before, and I only drink at home or with some form of supervision, be it a parent or a few friends who haven't had anything.

Energy drinks. I don't know how many times I've gone over the limit posted on the back of the can (you know, only drink 3 of these a day). I've cut down after nearly fainting once, but I still enjoy a can of Monster or something if I'm really tired and need the boost (such as waking up at 5 for a bowling tournament -.-), or if I have spare money and want something other than water.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~

On top of all that, I do have some healthier addictions.

Riding (Cycling to some people, I call it riding).. I just recently got back into this, but I almost never turn down an offer to go riding around town. It's great exercise, and it's even more fun now that I can do some tricks. I did ride to and from school every day, and went riding for at least 3 and a half hours every Friday. I still go out on Fridays with friends, and 2-3 times a week aside from that, weather permitting.

Bowling. I'm a member of 2 leagues, although one (for my school) is no longer in session, I carry around a 160-170 average, depending on the alley (one league is my main house, where I have the 170, the school league is the house a few miles away, where I have about a 160-165). I can't get enough of bowling. I probably spend, when both leagues are in session and tournaments are up, 100-150 dollars per month on bowling alone (not including food, gas, etc.). Not to mention all the time I spend bowling (upwards of 15 hours a week).

Reading. I can burn through a few hundred pages a weekend (I read one of the harry potter books in a day, but then again I was in a cast and had nothing better to do, since I couldn't walk without crutches, which hurt like hell).

Sunflower seeds. Just plain delicious, although a bit nasty (I get them shelled, but I spit out the shells, usually in a plastic bottle if no trashcan is nearby). Nasty, but I see no harm in it.

So you sucker punched a kid in the back of the head? Good job.
What scares me is that you're like 10 years old.
-.- im not that freaking young
You were a couple years ago.
It's not racist if its true.
Hmm... I wonder how one goes about throwing someone out a window in a mystic fashion :-k

The mental image for that is freaking awesome.

That's 'cause Runescape is about being better than everyone else, not about being skillful or having fun :o.

Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series.

Power. But it's not really an addiction, just something I'm used to.

I used to be really addicted to Pez candy, I would have something like 4 packs a day.

If anything, I'd say I'm addicted to music. I have to listen to my favorite music regularly or else I'll get bored and depressed. It keeps my mind in a happy place. : )

Tillamook Medium Cheddar Cheese!!

The best cheese on Earth, seriously.

I also read a LOT. I'm addicted to reading, you know? Like I'm up till 3 or 4 most nights reading. Mom says go to bed, so I turn off the light then turn it back on with a towel under the door to block the light and I keep on reading. About 4-6 books a week. >.<

Used to play RS way too much. Probably was addicted, but then I voluntarily took a 5 month break to finish out high school. And now... just the cheese and books. :lol:

Starting to smoke as of recently. That's about it. Just a casual thing for me right now.

I don't have your lovely excuse, but I share the addiction.

Chocolate! Chocolate! Lovely Chocolate! As I've stated before, one of the reasons why I would never wish to leave Belgium is our chocolate. Seriously.

I'm also addicted to my mailbox. If a day goes by without a decent e-mail, I feel completely forgotten. Not being able to check my mail daily makes me nervous.

cigarettes, although i could probably quit if i really wanted to, it's just something i do on break at work and when i'm bored.

internet, not necessarily rs, but just internet in general

as for an addiction i've gotten over, i used to pop my collarbones. similar to cracking any other join, but it was where my collarbone and shoulder connected, as well as where the collarbone connected near my neck. weird, but felt damn good, then it started to hurt from overdoing it, so i stopped. still do it every once in a while to freak people out, or just for the feeling.

Internet, or used to be. Now that I've been away from it for weeks, it feels good. I still don't watch TV, which is what I felt I'd go back to after I stopped browsing hard core.

Honestly, nothing. I don't do any drugs and I can go to parties without drinking if needed. Video games are things that I can go without, but would be bored without (No MMORPGs and becoming more and more casual with my gaming), same goes for my anime/manga love. Yes, I can go for as long as I want without the internet (although for practical purposes it would be tricky).

The only "urge" that I have really is jerking off, but that isn't very frequent and I often give myself endurance challenges to see how long I can go without it.

What I do find I have instead of addictions is "phases". At one point I'll be totally into something, say right now it would be metal gear solid series (doesn't take a genius to figure out why ;) ). Then I'll grow bored and move onto something else. This goes for more than just video games, variable in length, and varies according to context (like, I'll drop my MGS fixation when I go to the states without any MGS games to satisfy my needs, but it will come back later on).

Last year I used to be addicted to Dr. Pepper and Runescape, but I quit both and now Facebook's my thing. :) It's starting to die down but I still check it daily.

I never knew it was possible to truly get addicted to soda until I saw five cans of coke next to my brother's computer, one day after we bought them.
