A Guide to Hunting Waterfiends

Hi all,

 

 

 

I've been using this guide (with a little modification to take into account my stats) and must say its a damn good guide.

 

 

 

Have anyone tested G maul as a special weapon? I've been looking at it and wondering if its worth the 150k price tag for it.

 

PS Regen bracelet is better then combat and the extra health per second coupled with bunyip is great.

 

 

 

G maul is a decent special weapon. The 150k price really isin't much to consider, although I would just stick with D Mace. Regen Bracelet might help if you are bunyip or Unicorn tanking, and are just slightly dipping into the food, although Barrows gloves are best if you are fine as is.

Also, it's not the price of the maul that decides it's usefulness (you can resell anyway). It's the inventory space and the loss of another speccing weapon that decides wether it's good to bring one. This leads me to the conclusion that you shouldn't bring a maul. SGS, enchanted excalibur, D mace, maybe even dds are all better options.

D mace spec is barely any better than regular hits by an SS/ZS anyway. The maul's spec is very fast so I'd try it.

Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:

I'd just like to make a note that you can stay there much, much longer if you use prayer flashing, but it can be quite tricky. You need to have protect from range on before the waterfiend even starts attacking, then right when you see his arrow, you turn off protect from range. Using that method, I can get 15-25 kills without using a dose of prayer potion, without a bunyip to.

99 HP, Attack, Strength, Defence, Summoning, Ranged, Herblore, Prayer, Agility, Magic, Slayer, Fletching, Fishing, Woodcutting, Mining, and Thieving.

I always teled right when unicorn went away, so there are partial waterfiend kills and such. I would reccommend looking at the exp per hour and not charms when comparing the methods. I have yet to do tests without 10% strength. Remember waterfiends are 512 exp per

Very interesting. So karil > void according to your restults ... (you'd need a few more void tests it seems, but from what you have now, karil seems even or better, considering you have higher defense).

Nah, it looks to me like they are both about equal from those results.

 

The kill are about the same for all (look at the exp), I guess the extra time healing with void voids the effect ;)

 

But remember karils needs repairing and void doesn't.

 

 

 

O g maul is pretty good there and unlike the mace you don't have to switch the attack modes. Best I've hit so far (with just super pots) is a 25-5-25 combo, followed by a quick switch to z spear for a very quick kill.

I always use this guide when I get a waterfiend task, and it works very well. Got 180 kills last trip \' With 149 crimson charms and 110 water orbs. I love these guys. Thanks for the guide ::'

So i don't understand What's the best outfit for a person with 85/85/85 or 80/80/80 or even 80/85/80. Void + Ss ( Sgs as spec). Bandos + Ss ( sgs as spec) or Void + Sgs. 68 Summoning so Bunyip. And 70 Prayer.

 

 

 

What would be the best outfit, and what would be the most efficient outfit ( as in cost of waterfiends not cost of outfit).

Void+ss

 

Sgs is just slow, but bring it with specs with ss

 

Bandos gives you 3-4 more crims per hour, but at a cost of loads of p pots and makes it very hard to do.

I don't understand how bandos makes you use more p pots. Doesn't it have more defense while void has virtually none?

 

 

 

 

 

EDIT::: I just realized i meant karils not bandos. So here we go again. Void + Ss, Void + sgs or Karils + ss. Which is fastest xp? And which is most efficient ( in cost per trip, not cost of equipment)

Waterfiend's range attack is based on mage def for some reason, so unless you pray range with bandos, they will shred you.

 

Void if you have sgs (you need it to survive), karil if you don't. Void gives better numbers but it is harder to survive with it.

Since you die faster in Void, that means your trips are shorter, making the charms/hour better for Void.

Alright so here are my questions. at 80+/80+/80+ and 82 Mage, 68 summoning. 1. What's better Void or Karils. Kent confused me with his dying first hence it's better. 2. If you have a bunyip and a sgs do you need any scrolls with the above stats?

ROW's do not effect secondary drops

ie. charms, vissy, or any drop that can come WITH normal loot.

 

So you may get a water rune, two ranarrs, and a crim.

ROW DOESN'T effect the water rune, cos its an always drop.

ROW DOES effect the ranarrs, cos they are your loot

ROW DOESN'T effect the crim, cos its secondary.

Yes, you can get d bones, d legs and visage in one drop :P
