Old times were fun..but new?

Ah yes, the days when I was trying to level woodcutting, dreaming about how I'd make a ton of cash when I could finally cut willows. By selling them to the general store.

That was so long ago, there was no woodcutting requirement to use rune axes, and I used the rune axe my friend gave me. And I've still got it in my bank somewhere...

But new times are plenty of fun too. I was so excited to be in the GWD killing aviansies (Or trying to) that I didn't mind that I was getting ksed by everyone in the room.

New times can provide as much rush as the good old days. You just need to more to reach that level.

Yes, old times (I started in april 2001) were certainly more fun. But that's normal if you start something now. Things get old over time. I'm amazed I still like this game after a massive seven years. That's a huge accomplishment for a browser game.

Darkdude98,

While your suggestion is highly interesting, thats quite not the topic I wanted to discuss :)

Don't get me wrong, the idea is fantastic!

Thanks..

I'll admit, I do miss the old times. I miss the days of wandering about Runescape and getting lost, and thus wandering some more to eventually find my way back from where I came from.

I have to say I miss exploring the most. Even though I explore all the new areas that come out, It just doesn't feel the same. I don't think anything can replace the feeling of when I first entered the members world and spent countless days on end searching around to find out what was new.

I've always looked back on my past, I mean 6 years is a long time to be playing a game. But I'll thank you now, because you made me take a look inside myself and remember everything that I use to enjoy. The game is still enjoyable but like you said there's nothing to re-kindle the fire deep inside of the first days of Runescape.

Maybe I'll start a new account some day, and go back for the fun of it. Go back and re-accomplish everything that I have in the past, maybe I'll go back and the fire will burn again.

The fire of low level accomplishments has never gone out, it's just been heavily smoldered by goals and pride.

What I'd find very interesting what be a "new Runescape"

Basically - exact same world/updates etc. as now. BUT - You can use your current account, but don't have those stats.. EVERYONE starts from scratch.

It'd be like how RSC is to RS2, just another version of RS2. There'd still be RS2 and i doubt too many people would play this version - but just a few servers (Make it members only maybe?). I think it'd be very interesting to play Runescape as it is today - but without all the millions of supplies already in the market. With the GE it'd be quite limiting - but that could be worked around.

If Jagex ever did such a thing - what anyone be interesed? Or only me?

After playing this game for 5 years... this is by far the most original and interesting thought I have read. It's like a light bulb went off. This is why RSC was so great. Everyone was on the same playing field almost (i started in 2003 so ppl were still at lvl 100). It would be very interesting to see how it would play out. I would def. play that instead of the runescape we have. I have always had a competitive nature, and runescape today is losing that competitve nature and I have not been able to figure that out. Smithing at the moment is the only thing keeping me going since it is considered one of the "harder" skills.

Excellent.

The old times were better, beack then you knew so little of the world and everytime you did something new, it was like some fun thing. Now, I've seen and done pretty much evrything( On f2p that is).

I just finish the lumbrdge diary, I'll really enjoy it again if theres some massvie update that gives me alot of things to do.

I hate to bring WoW into this, I really do, but WoW has something like this. As you can't move characters freely from one server to the next, whenever they add a new server, everyone starts from 100% scratch. (You can't transfer characters from other servers onto new ones for 6 months) And yes, it is really fun. I wish rs had this, I would come back in a heartbeat.

:^_^: I drew that smilie, btw, along with a few more used by this site.

Classic bloodveld for lyph3! Although I do like the new ones.

Like a ninja, here I was, gone I am now.

BUT! I may be back! Add my new account, Dr Bloodveld!

I love the idea! i would probably leave World of Warcraft and go back to Runescape :D

thats something cool about WoW...when they release a new realm...you cant transfer your lvl 70s over to it...if you wanna play realm...you have to start from scratch

I believe, that when you finally do get 99 in a skill, it'll be a huge reliefment. I myself will go hang around with my friends when I get it, instead of doing other skills. I'm doing it already, although my strength is only 89...

Wow, I can't Believe I said "My strength is ONLY 89"! I feel now though that every level I achieve (especially in strength) is a very big achievement for me. I feel relaxed, that I got the level and usually go hang around somewhere for a while.

The longer time I spend on the level - the more I appreciate it. Don't know about you guys though ;)

I totaly agree, When i was alot lower level, More of a newbie you could say, I had so much more fun, I couldnt wait to play, But recently (the last few weeks / months) I havent enjoyed runescape as much. I dont think its just about all the discovery, I also think that JaGEx have changed alot, The changes they've made to rs recently have been very disapointing to me.

Even HD, I thought it looked amazing, But i was still disapointed, I cant think why i was, But i was.

Item lending, I didnt even give it a second glance.

New bank, I love But same as HD, I was disapointed, For no specific reason.

Surprisingly, even after getting all 99s, people don't stop to rest :)

I've played this game since 2001/2 and I still get excited when I get a level. I had quiet a good time getting summoning from 1 to 32 this week actually. I went from 122 combat to 126 in the process. Since I don't spend every day playing and take regular breaks from the game for 1 or 2 years at a time the game doesn't really get stale for me.

i remember when i first played runescape. i would go on and walk around for an hour just exploring what could be found. after a while i started lvling and found all the neat stuff i could do. but after a while the excitment started to go away... and i quit for almost TWO YEARS! but i came back got up 40 or so lvls in evcery skill and i am who i am today. the end lol :|
