But if I'm training mage and I've got a runner, I don't complain. I just hold them and fire blast them.

 

Timing it just correctly, they can never move. I've once found a guy who hadn't picked up his stone and held him 2 tiles away from the dispenser and fire blasted him to death :lol:

 

 

 

Yea, free runes are nice and that's the main reason i use mage in there.

Lol I owned a lvl 108 or summin like that and he called me a noob afterwards. I mean come on! Why do they expect us to let them kill us? They don't understand what strategy means. To use tactics to defeat your opponent. They just expect everything to be given to them on a silver platter. It's basically the same flaming you get from Barbarian Assualt for using the cannon and losing points(which it doesn't) :roll:

yeah.. runners in fog do irritated pple (time wasting and such) well... u can always leave the arena if its time wasting (i did for a few rounds) kudos to those who won..

Aah, a rants about my Favorite game. As I will be going for rank 500 or lower (Maybe even for front page) I will hardly use the running method. My method?

 

 

 

I have a place somewhere North and it gets you 10 charges each time I think, it has 5 rocks on a row, I stand there while I watch my hunter come, I see style he uses and then change my armour to his style, I try to block him behind the rocks and if I fail in doing that or if he is too smart I just run to the furthest wall. I teleport from there and just pure defend.

 

 

 

I -HARDLY- lose games (Lost like 7 in my 2093 rating)

I always run andhide, and use the houses at least 4 time sa game. The last time I tanked in the center because I felt lazy, I got specced by a level 61 and lost =.= (im level 120)

I agree with you! I was playing F.O.G yesterday, and I played a lvl 122. When he was runner, he just stood in the middle and let me kill him. Sure, it was kinda hard and he got quite a few charges, but it was boring for me and I'm sure it was for him also. When I was runner, I ran around, used the tele-orb, used the portals, and put strategy into the game. It was a lot more fun for me. He beat me by a couple charges, then after the match he came and said "don't run, only noobs do that. everyone stays in the middle".

I agree. It's so funny that people become angry because you make killing yourself as difficult as possible. They think that everything is served to them on a silver plate -.- Even the slightest difficulty makes them mad and makes them throw taunts, swears etc.

Isn't that the idea behind the game as well? It's described as Hunter Vs. Hunted, and I'm pretty sure prey doesn't just stand out in the open when the predator is nearby...

okay, i put together a nice tactic that is use EVERY time im the runner, at beginning quickly grab a stone and hug the wall to the OPPOSITE side to where you started, it is a common fact that you start opposite of eachother in the arena, this makes them confused and usually the last place they look is back where they started, When the find you their energy will nearly be depleted, continue to run from them while they chase, eventually their run energy will deplete ( usually before yours does) this is when you teleport to the middle and leave them to walk abck, when they enter the screen run off and repeat! ITS PURE GOLD!

Anyway, there is a big hole in it:

 

If you wait for them until they see you, even if they run out of energy, at the center the energy regain rate is about 5%/second. And you gain almost nothing at the outer reaches. So, if you get unlucky or you mess up, this tactic could actually work against you.

I'm sure everyone uses these categories; only the stuff inside the categories differs from person to person. I consider almost everything you can legally do in FoG to be Honorable legal (this includes tanking, house-hopping, and running).

 

 

 

The only thing I consider dishonorable legal is "abusing the chat box," which includes lying to your opponent about your charge status or drawing pornographic ASCII art. Using @@@@@@ to cover your health bar is borderline honorable/dishonorable. Illegal techniques would be hacking into the RS client. I haven't seen any illegal techniques.

 

 

 

I'm a hider/tanker hybrid with a bit of running mixed in. I win a lot of my games. My usual response to those who call me a runner/hider noob is "I beat you" or "I won." Because winning (legally) is everything ;) .

 

 

 

My strategy against runner/hider noobs is simple: Find them, entangle, lay in one or two dds specs, attack normally until they run out of sight (since they should have more run energy). Go to the center. If the prey starts wall-hugging again, rest assured that your poison will do the trick.

I also win a lot of my games. My personal motto in FoG: "Go in the middle when he's not expecting it." When I go in a portal chamber, most people run away to the other side of the map - it's surprising to see how many people don't know I can simply walk out and charge up at the fist.

 

 

 

And about FoG, the strange thing is: there are more high-level idiots than low-level ones. Last time I beat a level 110-ish (he just tanked in the center, put on protect from melee and probably went AFK; I used newby earth blast and soon he died'd - with hardly any charges to my 1100-something), he went up to me after the match and started deforming my chatbox contents. I was like "Enjoy your ban". Low levels seem not to lament about their losses so much, and I get no more losses to high levels than to low levels.

 

 

 

As to the morons who think of FoG as a mage training place: there is a whole area named after its purpose, and the free runes are not there so that you can level up. This is one of the only cases where I'll purposefully try to hide under big fat stacks of other people.

Actually... as long as I can get paired with lower levels as much as higher levels, given an equal amount of lowers and highers, I don't care about that. I've lost to lowers and won against highers enough. We need an IQ-test.

The buidlings are all good, but the rocks, at 1/5 your characters height arn't even mageable over, and its really just taking advantage of the following and atking system which fails.

Doesn't that also make ring-around-the-rosie (my name for it : , but not my favorite tactic) a tactic too? Making people mad (without flaming them) is also a good tactic. A lot of the times doing "cheap" things lets you win. I've won a fourth fo my games from forfeits \
