It is one of the single most important inventions in our entire history. Without the wheel we probably would have never evolved to our current point. Because, without soap, there would be no modern sterilization, and therefore diseases would be much more prevalent in our modern society. It also revolutionized surgical medicine, making alot of amputations a thing of the past. Quite a few amputations were performed, before the days of soap, because of severe infections. With modern sterilization, there was less of a risk of infection, therefore less need for amputations. Without the wheel we probably would have never evolved to our current point. We have horses/oxen/elephants for transport. Not to mention the MagLev (which is super fast but doesn't require wheels...) And boats and planes. No wheels wouldn't be too bad, but working further away would be harder. Tbh. The Computer. But then again I expect a high proportion of people on this forum will say that. Why? Because they are forum users and no-doubt gamers or ex-gamers aswell and many have jobs related to IT. but if there were computers but no internet; i would have to vote the invention of language aswell. Production lines, houses, hospitals, computers, etc. Every time the power goes out where I live, I get really bored. Most of todays technology is run on electricity and without it we'd be screwed.
