Welcome to the Weather Discussion.

A game that has alot realistic features is a game that is absolute. Now that's what Jagex wan'ts for the game, that it's enjoyable. That's why they made the HD graphics.

Let's get on topic. I really love a game that is realistic and challenging. It might be hard to manage to develope this, but if you have hopes for it you can get a step further to making it a reality.

I hope that Runescape weather changes, from Fall to Winter, from Winter to Spring, From Spring to Summer.

It will be refreshing and will make us players enjoy the game more :)

Most of all, i sure want to see Snow. Snow is essential, it's magical in many ways. It gives the good feeling no matter where your from, you feel it. Now you might think "Aren't you off tracks now?", and no i am not.

Snow, will make the game fun. It will make us get that good feeling in the game aswell in real life.

It might take quite time to fix a huge update like this, but i can imagen that Jagex could do a 1 day Update every seson and implent the Weather. Then after that 1 day, We had winter before, now after the update we have Spring!

Anyhow other things: Rain, is nice to have.

Also, do you think we will get to see this?

Discuss.

Sorry :-# Just thought Snow in Varrock would be more of a way to get interested. Which is true, but then again it's relevant to the topic so hehe :D

Using the ? could mean a confusion about the topic, something they saw that they thought was odd

Do not fear Death. Death is always at our side. When we show fear, it jumps at us faster than light. But, if we do not show fear, it casts its eye upon us gently and then guides us into infinity...

On topic, I think that would be a great addition to the game. The only problem would be Northern/Southern Hemisphere issues. Which time would they go by? I also think it would be really cool to add a rain feature with thunder and lightning. Perhaps Jagex could add some seasonal events...like monsters that only come out during the winter when it is hailing. The more weather types the better i'd think.

I thought the same thing, I'm thinking ooo snow in Varrock how cool!

I think it'd be really cool to home tele and find lumbridge/edgeville raining as long as it doesn't make it dark.

Maybe also a temperature change for fun, like at the Ice Plataea it could be -23 degrees and Al Kharid could be 103 degrees.

(Fahrenheit)

temperature would'nt do squat, cause, afterall we can climb down a volcanoe in full gear without breaking a sweat.

I also think i would get exremley annyed if it was snowing like in waterbirth in varrok. and it just does'nt look nice.

Seasons would be nice but on what timezone/hemisphere would you base it on, (would be nice if each world was based on were its server was so a UK server would have the seasons in RS as the same time in the UK...)

Rain, thunder and lightning would be good and could be like the snow effects on waterbird island and so on (although it might seem strange starting fires in the rain or all the npcs standing outside in it)

Before this though i think day/night would do more to add to realism, however some changes in the weather might be more easier to achieve and impliment into the game

Theres a fine line between not listening and not caring,

I like to think I walk this line every day.

Pinning blame on Jagex is like trying to put pants on an old man.

You both know he needs them, but he'll just keep dancing around, avoiding them at all costs.

i suppose to make it simpler for Jagex they could just go by UK seasons, i know it's not the same everywhere but it is a UK based company and i'd think the large majority of players are in the western hemisphere so it would be most logical. Really i don't think it would be very hard to implement. Just add snow to most areas, make little ponds frozen( not ones with fishing spots, keep them as cracks in the ice maybe?), make it so al karid just has a slight frost but not snow since it's desert. In the middle of summer keep most regions the same although add a few more flowering plants and make the game brighter, also make the snowy regions slightly grassy with little plants growing, frosty ground rather then total snow. In autumn just get rid of most of the leaves, make the game a little dimmer light wise, if graphically possible add rain at certain times( like every 5 hours for 30 mins or something). I'd love it personally, makes it feel more natural.

I wouldn't suggest doing the weather the exact same as the real world. I want to be in another world when I play games, not the same just with magic and 700 years ago.

Maybe make an entire RuneScape year one or two months, with 1 or 2 week season intervals. This can also apply with night and day, making 3 hours each or so. The season and time would be seperate for each sever encouraging homeworlds.

It would look nice, but that's about it. It wouldn't really be functional.

Maybe they could change the seasons during holiday events? You know, winter during Christmas (like that one year on Karajama, except world wide. And not as annoying), Spring during easter, Summer would be just as it is now since there is no event, and Fall during Halloween.

Made me smile :D . Probably true but completely irrelavent.

Meh, weather isn't really as important to me as a sence of time (you know Day or Night?) It wouldn't even have to be to a correct scale to the real world, having 5 "days" a day would be fine by me.

I don't know for sure because I wasn't here for the event, but can't you use the snow globe to make snow if you're desperate?

give F2P a penny and they want a dime; give P2P a quarter, they want 100,000 dollars, your car, house, boat, social security number, credit card numbers, drivers license, clothes on your back and everything you ever owned or interacted with ever

As a matter of fact, joey, it's North-South tht's important, not east-west.

I'd hate it. RS isn't meant to be like real world.

Actually deserts do get snow, Antartica is a desert :D

On topic though, that seems like a good idea, but considering Jagex has much better things to do, like owning those pesky RWTers, they probably wouldn't be able to implement that into the game D:

You could even have different parts of the world have different weather. Afteral, it'd be a pretty big rainstorm that went from mortania to trinwan. I always thought it would be cool to have day/night change a few times a day and have monsters be more powerful at night (or some of them) but make the areas close to the roads a safe zone.

It isn't the same season everywhere on earth

Which is why your idea will never be implemented.

It'd be nice, but I doubt the graphics, even with the new ones, would render it very well. We still can't see the sky, which is a big chunk for everything weather-oriented. For instance, you may see thunder striking down but never actually see the clouds. It may rain/snow, but you only see it from a downward perspective, which is a huge turn-off. I say Jagex needs to make a sky before considering ever doing something like this. Is possible without a sky? Yes. Worth it? Not really.

ppl dont have same seasons as everyone else. it could be winter in US but summer in Australia. in some countries it is springlike all year long and in others they have a rainy season and a nonrainy season. it wouldnt work...

If Jagex was that concerned about making RuneScape exactly like the real world, I think they screwed up with the dragons.
