thrash-boy
I was just read the topic by riku3220 about the pandemic game and it got me thinking. What do you think will end the human race, and when will it happen? I found a wikipedia article on it and i tried to list the good ones, but they are all to interesting, so just read the article  personally i think our clossest threat is a pandemic, followed closely by climate change. discuss

Intriguing
I have no idea. The human race isn't exactly on the downfall at the moment, so it's kind of hard to make a prediction about what's going to kill us. I don't think it will have anything to do with global warming, or us polluting our planet, as we'd probably evolve and adapt if we changed our living environment significantly enough. My best bet would probably be the sun turning into a Red Giant. Cool.
warri0r45
As for a particularly nasty pandemic, you could probably either isolate it on one continental land mass or isolate groups of people from the infected. We'd have to be mighty stupid to die out as an entire species from the disease itself. The pandemic game is unrealistic in the sense that if everyone in an entire country is becoming infected, people would invariably start isolating themselves from the disease and many of these people would have a good chance at avoiding it. As for global warming, it's a much weaker argument than a pandemic. Even if the increase in temperatures were three-fold what's suggested, we'd just move to the colder climates (towards the poles). Again, we'd have to be unbelievably stupid as a race to let that kill us all. Even thinking about something like nuclear war, I could still imagine the scenario of various survivors in bunkers around the world, perhaps even some people with contingency plans to live underground indefinitely. Having said that, I think nuclear war is a stronger argument than many. The final thing I could think of at the moment is the death of our sun in a few billion years. Though, by then, well probably be long gone. Entropy will be the death of us all in the end.

Howlin0001
Most likely we will kill ourselves(well that was the outlook until recently but there's a small chance we won't now) and when we do the world will be a better place.

Nom
I doubt anything short of the death of the sun will be able to destroy the human race completely. Unless we evolve to a point that we are considered a different species. At the rate technology is going, we'll be colonized on other planets and such before global warming (dumb argument anyway) or pandemic rises up. That makes the most likely scenario something akin to I, Robot or Terminator.

The problem with that being that we haven't actually found a planet capable of sustaining life (as we know it) yet. Cool.

The problem with that being that we haven't actually found a planet capable of sustaining life (as we know it) yet. And the big problem of the impossible distances of the universe. Everything just seems to be way too far away. Even if we managed to travel at speed of light. Reality is hundreds of times more beautiful and more interesting than delusions. Fairy tales just tend to be easier to follow than the wonderful intricacies of life.
Intriguing
Didn't they find ice under Mars? Along with some sort of chocolate Well, you'd think that if the change in the heat given out and/or size of the Sun was significant enough to effect the sustainability of life on Earth, it would also have some effect on Mars.. At the rate technology is going, we'll be colonized on other planets and such before global warming (dumb argument anyway) or pandemic rises up. The problem with that being that we haven't actually found a planet capable of sustaining life (as we know it) yet. And the big problem of the impossible distances of the universe. Everything just seems to be way too far away. Even if we managed to travel at speed of light. I think that's what he was talking about with technology, but you're right. If we haven't found a suitable planet yet (god knows we have enough people looking for one), then it must be a fair way away. The further away it is, the more supplies (food, water, fuel) we need to actually get there.. at a certain point it gets a bit too much. And I don't think the expansion of the universe is helping much. Cool.

Along with some sort of chocolate I don't know about the chocolate, but Mars has polar ice caps. I've seen theories that claim those can be melted through engineered global warming and such and an ecosystem restored within a few hundred years, making Mars fit for habitation. Also, Europa is a giant ball of ice and contains the right combination of gasses in its atmosphere to sustain life. There are other moons of Jupiter and Saturn that are possible candidates as well, though I can't remember which ones right now.
RichieMcD
I don't think it well end the world, but when World War 3 does eventually happen most of the world will die since it's quite likely nuclear weapons will be used. Albert Einstein had a great saying for it I don't know what World War 3 will be fought with, but I know World War 4 will be fought with sticks and stones I think when WW3 does occur most of the world will be obliterated, and what remains will have no economy and very little resources left to work with. Along with that, I've never heard any Christian say that other books of the Bible should be ignored, or taken as fiction. I'm not bashing, as I'm Christian, merely pointing out that Revelations is more of a symbolic literature. It's being spoken about through a seer, and it's symbols are used to cover up the true meaning, as the Romans would kill them if they mentioned that the Dragon was meant to symbolize them. I never said that the books should be ignored either. But the Roman Catholic church does suggest some books aren't meant to be taken literally, and some are fiction, like Adam and Eve. Just saying what I learned. By the way, not Catholic. Just part of another Christian Denomination.
