Buses may have been cancelled, but I still have to drive (well, ride) around all day in this mess for work. :(

Somehow, it's even more nerve wracking when I'm not the one driving.

I don't mind riding with my Dad in bad weather, because that would be a case where his experience easily trumps my reflexes (for example, hitting the brakes in snow is very very rarely an appropriate response to anything). However, I would rather drive with my Mom (and she'd rather have me drive), because she's a lot more nervous about it than I am.

I think my math exam went well, though I can't really be certain. That tutorial paid off big time, even if I think I still did some of the limits wrong. I'll also have made arithmatic errors that I couldn't catch, but oh well. Assuming that I was able to fill in the gaps in my mind on the fly nicely (and it's nice having a solid base from which to do that), it should be right on par with economics.

Now I'll probably take a short nap, take a shower and continue cramming.

Bad idea. The short nap became longer and the continue cramming part never happened. On the one hand, the exam didn't go that well (but went better than I expected with all the stressing I did in the morning). On the other hand, no one's exam went well. And religion did go well, so all in all I'm pretty satisfied.

I love that randox can reference so many Dilbert comics on cue.

Today I'm writing an analyses of the false hopes of the modern American family ideals; Creating a 15minute presentation on the neurobiology behind sexual fetishes, and studying for my Biology of Cancer final.

Good thing all of these things are due tomorrow. Yay being employed.

I like the first topic a lot.

Mostly focuses on the fact that everyone acts like the 1950's had the perfect family structure, but try having a one-income household in today's economy. Plus fatherhood has risen in satisfaction since the 70s due to the shared responsibility of breadwinning. Father-child bonding time overall has increased significantly in the past few decades between employment rates, woman's rights and so on. People don't take into account how crappy old-fashioned families had it really. On the flip side, Hoover-town 1930's families might have had the most tightly knit families in American history.

On another note, Anyone remember Hegemony? http://www.atwar-game.com is like everything we (Hegemony players) ever dreamed of

Aww, RPG, but you never come to the Tavern anymore. Considering the pseudo drama going on at the moment, you may be wise.

Wait, the Tavern is still going? That's impressive for how few of you there were last time I lurked there.

The only difference between Hitler and the man next door who comes home and beats his kids every day is circumstance. The intent is the same-- to harm others.

I told her there was a secret method to doing it - and there is - but my once nimble and agile fingers were unable to perform because I was under the influence.

I would laugh, not hate. I'm a male. :(

Then check this game out! it's exactly like Hegemony, minus the dumb drama and broken mechanics.

Well I just lost the tutorial, somehow.

I think I'm going to have to play this game some more though because it looks amazing!

Just rain for us, though this morning looked like we might have had some snow overnight.

Today I learned the programming language FORTH (well, a bit of it), for use in one of the minecraft mods. I absolutely love it. It's all in Reverse Polish Notation, which I know from fooling around with my Dad's RPN calculator. I find it a very logical way to handle math for programming, though it does a look a bit weird going from an if statement that looks like:

if({condition1} == {condition2})
{
[stuff to do]
}

to something that looks like:

{get state of device} {value to compare to} AND {value to compare to} = IF
[stuff to do]
THEN

The only problem is that as far as I can tell, there is no way to go back and retype a line or edit a program, so if you make a typo, your starting over. Kind of annoying, but so far the programs have been pretty short, and I'm not anticipating anything particularly long.

edit: almost forgot, it uses binary math instead of decimal form, which is kind of neat. There are some fun things you can do with binary math, though it takes a little getting used to since all the numbers are still in/out in decimal format. I have my windows calculator in programming mode, which is proving infinately useful since it is showing a very clear translation between decimal and binary for me (because what I am working with are a lot of sums and I need to know what each digit is).

Finally got around to studying for my Microeconomics exam which starts tomorrow morning.

Luckily it's a concept course so really I just need to make sure I understand everything which doesn't take nearly as long as blunt memorization. Assuming I don't get stuck.

I've been going around to different places asking for feedback in regards to my covering letters, and what managers think would make it stick out better. I seem to have it all nailed out, just a few tweaks with customer service and KPI stuff is all that needs fixing. Next up is I plan to do an overhaul of my resume and give it a bit of colour so it sticks out a bit better, but not an eyesore, as well as layout my text a bit better.

Also I'm thinking of doing video blogs, only problem is I need a decent camera. They're about $100, but I don't have said $100 to buy one.

Grass sucks for the skiing. Even huge sheets of ice are preferable. I'd rather potentially lose my balance (though I can normally just go onto my edges until I'm past) than potentially come to a stop. Also, rocks hiding in the grass will do a lot more damage than ice will to the bottom of the ski's :(

Sitting here drinking bourbon and coke, and I'm somehow bored.

Just got an offer from the University I went to an interview last Wednesday.

It is my top choice, so I'm over the moon.

It's annoying, a lot of my girlfriend's friends have been posting how well they went on facebook, and she keeps pestering me to check my results, and I have't gotten them yet. If I don't get the results I needed then it's a year of working before trying again.

I'm having one of those right now. I'm tired, it's about -15 degrees C, and my insulated pants are still in my truck which is still at the body shop waiting to get fixed. I'm really wishing I'd grabbed them, but I didn't think it would take them a month to fix it. <_<

Exam results you mean? I'm sure you'll have done fine. I still have my final year to complete and exams to sit. To get university offers this early is good to show me what I'm actually aiming for, rather than what I've already got, which is a little bit below their requirements at the moment. So the story isn't finished yet. And then there's 4 years of a Biochemistry degree to do, so the road is going to be long, tiring and difficult.

In other news, I am absolutely livid. I performed at a charity gig for Sixth Form today, playing the piano "I want you back" By the Jackson 5. Right, I know this is a catchy tune, and I know that audience participation is more than likely. That is fine. But for a girl who I never talk to, is all up in everyone's faces all the time, and is a general annoyance to run up, grab the microphone and try to sing the song without knowing the lyrics; that made me absolutely furious. You don't prepare for these things do you? So I couldn't have just been like 'get the [bleep] off the stage'. I wanted to. But I didn't want to be a killjoy either or make the evening sour, it isn't part of my personality and the nature of my performances makes it look like I'm really lighthearted and fun, and to an extent, I am, but that doesn't give her an excuse to get on stage, take over my performance and ruin it, causing me to make several mistakes and overshadow it completely. I like to play tunes that get everyone in a good mood, I like performing to make people happy. I don't have to boost my profile as a musician, I hardly care, because I'm a scientist. This is my hobby and I'm sharing it with people to put them in a better mood (and raise money for charity) so though jovial I may be, I am a serious performer and do not wish to have my performances taken over again. Not everything is about you, Anonymous-drama-student! :mad:

This is not the first time this has happened, maybe next time I'll give an announcement about the 'rules' during my performance and tell everyone to sit the [bleep] down.

In other news, I've been sent 20 letters of praise from my crazy Chemistry teacher who went a bit mad with the 'praise' system. My Chemistry classroom now looks like Santa's Grotto, I love it.
