So, I was very worried about what happened after she texted me. We met up and walked her neighborhood and talked. We both decided we really were moving way too fast (we started dating a week after we met). We're gonna go back down to good friends and get to know each other better first. Then, we'll probably resume dating. Essentially, we're taking a break. I'm very satisfied with this. It has made me calm and like her even more.

I am officially 21 in 1 hour and 12 minutes.

If I do not post in at least two days and update on how drunk I got, feel free to assume that I am dead. See ya'll on the flip side.

Happy birthday Rpg and Hedgehog!

The most beneficial thing about not being able to sleep well one night, is that when you sleep at a ridiculous time (9pm)

the next night, you're too tired to care, and you sleep like a baby.

Damn, that was a very good night's sleep.

'dern young'ns.

I get this feeling that you will grow up to be that senile bitter old guy who just sits on his porch drinking beer and cursing the world.

“I had a feeling we weren’t coming back from this fight when it began.”

“Do you have any regrets?”

“I don’t. It seems surprising, I know, but I wouldn’t change a thing. This is how it was meant to be.”

“Huh, you never really notice how lovely the day is until you realize you’ll never see it again.”

“Mmmhmm.”

Hardly, if I live long enough past 60 I'll be showing them who's boss. (you know, better then them etc)

If anything, I'm gradually getting younger in the mind. (...open minded... not...recessing into a kid)

Awkward. A friend of mine, her partner cheated on her with her best friend a few years ago. Her friend's fiancee didn't know until he caught them going at it on his couch. Long story short they all broke up but my friend's ex-bf kept trying to get with her friend.

2 years later, seems he got her pregnant and she just gave birth.... they're not dating at all either. On the upside, it means my friend can finally get better custody rights to his daughter considering he pays everything for her, the mom does nothing and now he's got proof of the mother's neglect.

We didn't break up though. Currently, we're in an area between friends and bf/gf. It's strange to explain. We just both realized that we really need to work on knowing each other on an emotional and mental level so we can communicate better.

Isn't that the entire purpose of dating?

From the way my best friend explained it (she's a woman, most of my friends are), there's a fine line between being able to communicate well before a relationship and building onto that in the relationship.

Your last sentence is what the point of dating initially is. Tell her you don't want to wait to get to know her romantically and kiss her.

You can't be "dating" if you decide to take a break for it.

Perfect example of two people running before they can walk, to be honest.

I don't really understand why you'd say "We need to get to know each other a bit more", and then say "Let's take a break". Surely that's counterproductive.

OT: I strained my neck/shoulder (most likely trapezius) a week ago. It was only a small niggle but I carried on working on it without anti-inflammatories and now it's so tight and painful I can barely roll out of bed any more. These things happen, but the part I hate most is having to phone work to say I can't come in. They're going to be one pair of hands short, the ward is already running on minimal staff, and I hate feeling like I've burdened other people. I'm a student, so technically I'm supposed to be supernumerary but... it still doesn't feel great.

EDIT: Also, given my university has the word "Hallam" in, and we're bang in the middle of the Union's elections week, this was only a matter of time:
