Gay marriage is now permitted in the UK. It's also a sunny day outside, the sky isn't falling, there aren't any locusts buzzing around either.

Not as cataclysmic as some predicted, then.

I don't think many people were predicting the sky falling or a plague of locusts....

Does this make the UK the first EU member to legalize gay marriage?

Nope.

Hi guys, been ages since I've posted but I've just been lurking for a while. Last night we finally had another concert with the band, it's been since early last summer that we performed in front of a crowd and it felt great to be back on stage. We also recorded a kind of demo. One of my best friends studies stage techniques (or whatever you would call it in English) and had an assignment where he had to record a live band. He asked us, and now we've got some songs recorded, which also feels nice. It's not the best quality around, but I'm still quite happy with them.

Dear Lord death cup is a dangerous game to play if you plan on smoking afterward. So many drunk texts. Mostly about having sex with food. Awesome dream about hosting a my chemical romance reunion show in my basement though.

Played cards on beers last night. I ended up at zero owed to anyone. We played well over 10 games, each game on beers... There were 3 of us, I got dead even, but one dude owes the other player 3 beers. Suffice to say, it was all pretty even.

Made a deal with me mate that next time we go out somewhere together, we will scout the locale, check out a few girls that I think might be more interesting/beatiful/nice/whatever and he shall give me tasks to perform. If I do them, he will buy me drinks, if I don't I buy him. Just a small practice to get a bit less anxious about being around girls.

And also, ice swimming is epic. Last Thursday, went to the river, there is a somewhat public sauna, got heated up in sauna and jumped into the river and swam a bit. It was 4 centigrades in the water. Best feeling ever after you get out, way better than simply cold showers.

So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends.

RPG is constantly dealing with psycho exes.

Muggi reminds us of the joys of polygamy.

Saq is totally oblivious to how much chicks dig him.

I strike out every other week.

Kalphite wages a war against the friend zone.

Randox pretty much stays rational.

Etc, etc

So, I caved and started reading books again. Got through Divergent, Insurgent, and I think I have a hundred pages left of Allegiant. The ending of Insurgent was really weird. Might just be because I was pretty tired. I read Divergent on Friday night in lieu of sleeping, and Insurgent Saturday afternoon/evening (so, the end of the book was my 14th hour reading and my 40th hour since I last slept). Anyway, it felt really strongly like deja vu, like I have totally read the ending of that book before. In fact, I think I predicted a couple of the things that happened, a pretty fantastic feat for someone who is at about double their usual endurance for both time spent reading and time spent awake (I was pretty close to falling asleep and dropping the book on my face for the last 30 pages). I dunno, I think my mind just got confused because it was so tired, probably fudged up the memories. I don't think it's possible I've read the story before, though I suppose I could have read it as a preview. A lot of material for a preview though, and my memory is suggesting I know the story from perhaps a couple years before it was published.

Going to go with my brain might have been having trouble with being so tired.

Anyway, I think that's as good an endorsement as I can give any book. It's the same one I have the Hunger Game series, which coincidently, I think is the last series I actually read. I hadn't read a novel in far too long. Nice to know I still read at exactly one page per minute (give or take 25 minutes over 8 hours, though the Divergent pages are perhaps a bit less text than average, probably speeding up even my sleepy brain a bit).

Deja vu is caused by a mistake your brain makes when retaining short term memories. You probably felt that way because you haven't slept in forever. But I suppose its just as possible the ending wasn lifted from elsewhere.

Pretty certain it's just my brain screwing something up. It's just weird, as deja vu is. I can feel my head telling me that what I am reading matches a memory, but I can also say with certainty that the memory itself only exists because I tried to remember it. I can tell that blanks are being filled in as I try to remember a specific detail, my brain guessing at things based on past experience. Just writing this post I can suddenly remember where I was, in what position I was laying on the bed, how heavy the book was, and what time of day it was, details that didn't exist 20 seconds ago, because I never thought to try until now. If the ending reminds me of another story I once read, then I've probably truly lost that memory now, blocked by the stronger link to a memory fabricated to explain why a book seemed familiar. I think I was simply able to guess a couple things because quite frankly, they were the sort of things anyone should see coming, especially after having read 900 pages of how that author crafts a story.

The human mind is totally fantastic.

Going for a midnight walk in Newcastle, I never realized how much it resembles London from the pictures and videos I've seen.

Suffice to say, I've never felt more at home. Also I might have an Interview with Apple. 5th year's a charm?

Divergent is definitely the strongest of the three on that series. You might argue that the characters are at there strongest in Allegiant, but I still feel like Divergent was a stronger, more intriguing story.

Just another weekend that started off great and ended with some drama.

On Friday evening me and my girlfriend went to a beach bar with some friends at one of the hotels. We had a few drinks (i was on water/soda cause i had to drive). At around 1am we got tired because we had been at a festival all day long, throwing powdered paint at each other. So we decided to make our way home. On our way out i had to make a stop at the restroom to wash my hands. On my way to the restroom i i walked past an arabic guy, mumbling to himself. Thought to myself he was probably just a bit drunk. So i did my business, and on my way back to my girlfriend i heard some commotion coming from outside. I heard a guy with a fairly strong arabic accent talking pretty much at the top of his voice. Couldn't really make out what he was saying. Like a second later, just as i turned the corner i heard my girlfriend yelling "[bleep] off!" to some guy as he seemed to attempt to touch her. I completely lost it, and jolted at the guy. Without really asking any questions i flung myself at him. Grabbed him by the neck, introduced him to my right hand fist and he fell on the ground. Moments later we were met by bouncers and the night manager. They escorted all three of us to their security room and kept us there till the police arrived. When the police arrived they asked us what had happened. I explained to them everything the way i saw it, so did my girlfriend, and so did the other guy.

As it turns out she was standing there waiting for me to come back, when this guy walked past her and asked he "How much?" She ignored him, and he didn't like it so he kept pestering her asking her the same thing over and over till she told him to [bleep] off, at which point he tried to touch her. And that's where i cam into the picture.

As far as the Saudi was concerned, he was asking for directions and my girlfriend just started racially slur him. Then for no reason at all i decided to deck him. Since he is an Arab, in an Arabic country, the police was almost convinced by his story. He claimed that he never tried touching her either. So i told them to go look at the Surveillance Cameras. We go to the beach bar fairly often, so i knew there was a camera right outside where she was standing, and it would give a fairly decent view of what happened. I wouldn't be in the picture until i was basically on top of him, but that didn't really matter.

So we sat around for 30 minutes while they organized with the Security Manager to look at the footage. At this point the Saudi started looking really nervous and tried telling the police that it was a misunderstanding and we don't need to go further. He was saying all of this in Arabic, so me and my girlfriend had no idea what was going on. Both of us were getting really nervous. So i asked the one officer what was going on, and he explained to me. I told him that i wouldn't be satisfied if they dropped the case, and that i want this to be resolved my way or i would make a quick call to my lawyer. They were very understanding, and the three of us, along with the 2 officers, the night manager and the security manager went into their security room to look at the footage.

From the footage we saw my girlfriend standing there, on the phone. The guy (same guy i walked past on my way to the toilet) walked past her, turned around and said something to her. She turned her back on him, and he started moving closer still saying something. This went on for about two minutes as he was talking to her back while she was still holding the phone to her ear. And this is when he decided to try and put his hands around her, from the back. Moments later you see me flying into the picture.

The police stood there for a few seconds whispering at each other. They told me and my girlfriend we were free to go, but i should be expecting a call from them tomorrow morning to go to the police office to write a statement.

During all of this commotion one of the bouncers knocked my phone out of my girlfriends hand while trying to drag me off the other guy. Screen ended up breaking :(

Saturday morning i got the call, and we went in. My girlfriend and i both wrote statements. They asked her if she wanted to press charges for sexual harassment, and she did. They asked me if i wanted to press any charges, and i told them i just want the guy to pay for replacing my phone and paying any hospital fees for my fractured finger. We left the police station maybe 30 minutes later.

Earlier today i got a call from one of the officers from that night telling me that the guy apparently had started working at a company here about 4 weeks ago, but because of Friday evening he now has a  criminal record. His company fired him, cancelled his work VISA and he was put on the first plane back to Saudi. I was kind of confused at to how all of this went so fast but the police officer explained that 2 weeks ago this guy got himself in a similar situation so they managed to make it a priority case.

I got re-reimbursed for my phone that got broken and also for the hospital bills.

I found it quite hilarious when the police told me he wanted me to pay for his hospital bills, because apparently i broke his nose and fractured his cheek bone. But seeing as he was found guilty that was all scrapped.

The hotel called me about 2 hours ago apologizing for what happened and invited me and my girlfriend for a dinner for two at any of their restaurants, at their expense.

My girlfriend was quite pleased with this.
