I think we had one who studied medicine. But that was ages ago.

What is that game you are talking all the time? American football?

How can you like a game that has a break every 5 seconds?

It's like baseball. And my dad thinks baseball is the most pointless game ever. Even golf is better.

Likely because I don't need instant gratification and recognize the beauty of anticipation. That said, basketball and soccer are my two favorite sports.

I think it was nothing serious if you just felt lightheaded once. Happens. Don't worry too much, you ain't gonna die of lightheadedness, at worst, maybe faint. Sit down for a bit or hold on to something until it passes and you should be golden. And feeling hot or cold is such a fleeting thing. I generally don't do anything if something like this happens just once. Not even any medications.

If it starts recurring, then you should feel worried.

I have played basketball for 11 years and it is definitely my favourite sport aswell. Football (or soccer for you 'muricans) is second and I also like volleyball.

So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends.

RPG is constantly dealing with psycho exes.

Muggi reminds us of the joys of polygamy.

Saq is totally oblivious to how much chicks dig him.

I strike out every other week.

Kalphite wages a war against the friend zone.

Randox pretty much stays rational.

Etc, etc

As a former lifeguard, I can tell you that's the sort of thing I would have advised you to go see a doctor about within the next couple days before telling my partner that we might get to deal with an unconscious person today. Of course, we say that to anyone displaying a pretty big list of symptoms. It doesn't jump out at me as anything in particular, though suddenly feeling cold would probably be associated with a fever. If it keeps happening, definitely get that checked out.

I don't really like any of the ball spots, with an exception for beach volleyball (for both the reasons you think, and because there are few enough people on the field that I can follow the action). Hockey is alright, and I like Curling (probably because I still play).

Finally got a smart phone. It's a Sony Xperia Z3v. This retires my Samsung Alias 2 (I had for 5.5 years, RIP).

My biggest reason for getting a new phone was to get off my parent's plan. Now I'm even more independant. Btw, Adulthood sucks.

Our of curiosity, how many batteries did your phone go through in that time? I find that two years is about it for cellphones, 3 years if you really push it and don't use it much.

And yes, adulthood is terrible. They try to warn us, but we never listen until it's too late.

MEDICAL MYSTERY CHALLENGE!:

Today before work, I felt fine. For the first ~10 minutes of my shift I felt fine. Then all of a sudden I got really lightheaded and was sweating a lot even though I felt cold. I've since taken medication for dizziness and I feel fine again now. I've never experienced this before. What was wrong with me?

I feel obliged to say before anyone else does that nobody on TIF is a qualified doctor(that I'm aware) and therefore all advice is hypothetical and if you feel it may be an issue you should seek the opinion of a medical professional as soon as possible.

Is anyone on TIF a qualified politician or professional booze connoisseur?
No, but I wouldn't believe either political opinions or drinking advice could do as much damage as trying to crowd source a diagnoses on the internet.

Also, booze connoisseurs wouldn't be giving this kind of drinking advice (in my opinion) because they drink to enjoy the alcohol not the feeling it gives so I would imagine they don't binge.

After about 3 years of owning it, the battery would not hold a charge for more than 12 hours (with about 1 hour of use). So I bought 2 new batteries on Amazon, fortunately since the phone was out of use everyone was trying to get rid of that style battery so the cost was really low (~$5 iirc). One of the batteries was a dud, the other worked pretty well.

After another 2.5 years on the "new" battery, the phone won't hold a charge for more than 8 hours (with about 45 minutes of use). Basically, it's plugged in all the time except when I have to use it, or I am traveling.

It was fine for my purposes though, because I was on a shared low minutes plan.

Not getting a medical degree, but you were the one with the thyroid problem right?

I do have hypothyroidism, but I'm pretty sure I never posted about that here.

I did post about a secret Santa I got dragged into and today at work I bought 7 buckets for the person I'm supposed to give a gift to. The dude is a hipster (I'm not the only one who has said so) and hipsters like lol wtf O_o, so I figured it would be appropriate.

Edit: Upon further investigation, I did in fact mention my thyroid problem here.

I'm not a doctor but I am a biomedical engineer-in-training... And I've had type 1 diabetes for 12 years. Symptoms you had are pretty much like a low blood sugar, happens to people sometimes, sometimes people just have chronic low blood sugar, stuff like that. If it happens again I'd get it checked out and/or immediately eat/drink something with some sugar in it to see if that helps.

Just got back to school from Thanksgiving break, 3D printer is working again, bed wasn't sticky enough so I had to scrap an hour's worth of printing... But it works so that's good (last week it was falling apart whenever I tried to do something). Also took apart my laptop and blew out three years' worth of dust, much better now.

Last week I had to give a presentation, and this week the accompanying paper is due. To help me with the presentation, which was longer than any presentation I normally give, I wrote out pretty much a script so that I wouldn't forget things or resort to reading my own slides. That worked out pretty well, though I probably didn't look up as much as I should. Not a huge deal, we were being marked more on content than presentation skills.

Anyway, I made a pretty decent effort to write the script well, and follow the paper format, so with a little editing and proper sourcing, it will be a pretty quick conversion. I hate sourcing so much though, and I don't know why. It should be simple, but it always turns into this arduous task of hunting down information and getting everything properly formatted (and yes, I do use an online tool to format my sources now because I don't do this often enough to ever get used to it).

I'm also starting on the 5th season of Community tonight, because exam time is a time when you just need to insert some extra joy and laughs into your soul.

I'm starting to have second thoughts about using buckets as a secret Santa gift. Someone suggested getting a big bag of candy, but not everyone likes every candy. Someone else suggested a gift card, but apparently that's too generic or whatever. It's happening on Tuesday so ordering anything online is out of the question. Should I just stick with the buckets since I already bought them or should I get something else in case nobody gets that it's a joke?

Don't overthink it. Hell, you could show up with mcdonalds and you'd probably have the best gift

I once got a box of timbits as a secret santa gift. I don't know what the story behind it was, (I'm assuming they realized they needed to get something that morning and the persons dad was stopping by Tim Hortons anyway) but I was pretty stoked about it.

Tonight has been an absolute blast.

Started off with the uni ball. No room for dancing whatsoever.

Decided to go to afterparty.

For me, the afterparty turned into after-afteparty. And so on.

But I had terrific time and danced with plenty of pretty girls.

And now, at 8.25 AM I have just reached home and am preparing to go to sleep.
