Nah dude, it was Latvia

But yeah, if all these posts dont spell out exactly what's wrong with standardized education I dont know what does. Getting super stressed and acting strangely will yield poor performance, even if youre really good at the task at hand. Test scores dont mean shit.

Yay college.  Two finals today, then I'm getting [bleep]ing hammered. I wish I hadn't gotten up so early, my first final isn't for 2 more hours.

This storm is ridiculous.

It hit Northern California first, and my dad ended up hydroplaning, spinning twice and slamming head first into the center divider on the freeway, So that was a SUPER COOL AWESOME phone call to get from my mom. And now the storm has made its way to my neck of the woods here in SoCal. Lord help me.

I need suggestions for quiet ways to make a door open when I'm not home. My roommates have been taking about a ghost lately, and it would be funny if one day when I wasn't even there, by door just creaked open on its own.

I'm planning on finding a way to hold the handle down, so it doesn't latch, but I can't think of a way to make it open once it's there.

Gonna crack a Dogfishhead 120 minute IPA tonight.  I've been sitting on it since August, since they recommend aging.  Depending on how it tastes, I might have to pick up a couple more to age.  But at $10 a bottle, I'm probably going to wait until I break out the second one after I graduate to pick up any more.

Yesterday, my friend asked if I wanted to go skating today, and I was like Sure. I figured she was gonna text me or smth when they were ready.

Nope. I answered my door in my PJs at 12:30 and she was there and was like We're leaving in 10.

It's 5:45 and I have not showered I feel grody as [bleep].

SeanyTheBear says hi. No he doesn't. But he did to me. He also told me baby making is like build a bear workshop for babies.

Tell him to pick two different colored eyes.

If you asked me a week ago if I thought it was possible for my homework to inspire a moral dilemma, I would have said "No". If you asked me the same question 10 minutes ago, I would have had an emotional breakdown.

I'm only exaggerating a little bit.

Waiting for my final grades to be posted for autumn quarter. If I got below a 2.5 in my math class, my short-term academic future is really gonna be a pain in the ass in terms of reorganizing my winter quarter (since I already signed up for the next course in the sequence which I couldn't take if I did get below a 2.5). Retaking the class would be literal hell, but I think my only other option would be to switch from a BA to a BS. And my GPA already took a hit from that class regardless, so I feel like I should just power through.

The final was so insanely hard and I know I did terrible on it. Pre-final I had a projected 2.8 in the class, but the fact that the final was worth 35% of my grade and the fact that I think I did so badly has me preparing for the worst. I just really, really hope the curve is in my favor and everyone else did horribly too.

Welp I'll find out within a couple days I guess.

The point of this post is that math can go [bleep] itself

You did so badly in math that you're switching from a bachelor of arts to a bachelor of science? Well, not are, but could. That seems counterintuitive, it seems like the math requirements for a science degree should be harder than for an arts degree. Even if they're semantic names for the same degree.

This is only slightly related, but I remember reading some time ago that there's been this debate going on for centuries about whether math is a science or an art. I don't remember either side's arguments. I guess I'm just posting this to try to show off my knowledge or something.

You say that like the two are mutually exclusive :-D

Oops my bad, switched the two names somehow. Yeah you're right, I mean that I'd switch to a BA from a BS. Apparently the degree distinction doesn't actually matter much for grad school which was why I gravitated towards the BS in the first place.

Explored an abandoned hospital yesterday. It was really cool, but we kind of had a problem at the end. See, to get in, we had to climb a steep metal staircase into this cement ditch thing that led under the building, climb into a hole in the sub-basement, and then find our way through both levels of basements to the first floor. At one point two of us left, leaving me with one other person. We wanted to see another part of the building, but found that it was bolted off. We were going to re-join the others, got to the stairs to the first basement and realized they had all our lights.

Question: How do you descend through two levels of basements with confusing corridors and steep staircases in the pitch darkness?

Answer: Very, very carefully.
