Think i might be moving back to South Africa in a week or two. Not too sure how i feel about it, but it beats deportation.

hopefully a lion doesn't kill you
Nah man Lions don't bother pedestrians. They've been tamed pretty well.
Was referring to this

Lmao i stopped the video when she said American female tourist. That's all i needed to know why it happened. Seriously though. It's a mother-[bleep]ing LION! Not a little house-cat. Why for the love of sweet bearded baby jesus would you have your windows open.

EDIT: Clearly those lions weren't properly tamed.

I mean, I hope it's not the female part you're hung up on

Been far too long. Found some work for the time being (yay!), and I've been having a lot of fun. It's a good old labour job, so not exactly what I was angling for, but it pays well enough, and I actually like my job, my boss, and my supervisor, so that's nice. Being busy all day helps the time pass quickly, even if I am sore and tired when I get home (which is why I'm not posting much. Some nights I just come home and watch a movie and go to bed), but I'm starting to get used to it.

Also started seeing a chiropractor, which is probably a good thing. Have a pinched nerve going to my right shoulder, and some issues in my back and with my pelvis (it's tilted). Probably all that darn computer work. Probably wouldn't be able to do this job without the chiropractor actually. Also, my left knee is apparently just awesome. Just about every part of my body is or has been sore since I took the job, except that knee.

Anyway, I hope you guys are doing alright!

After what has been an absolutely exhausting month, I will take my last and seventh exam tomorrow at 9 in the morning and then I am free for a good number of months to chill out and get geared up for a year in Canada   |^_^|  |^_^|

Until then, I must become an expert on proteins overnight.

So yeah, Snoop Dog just turned up around my town and everyone has gone crazy. Just read one of those click bait articles and found someone I know in the tweets they used.

I've been hearing a bit about that on the Radio. Should be good fun for people in the area, trying to get a sighting of him. Probably a bit less fun for Snoop though :P

I'd imagine that he isn't having the greatest time but he is allowing lots of pictures to be taken. I've seen at least 6 on Facebook just from people I know.

In a similar vein, a local celebrity (I won't say who) was quoted as having to run through a grocery store shopping with a friend so that he wouldn't get constantly mobbed by friends. :D

So this week my life changed quite a bit. I don't know if anyone can remember, or if anyone even read it, but round about New Years i posted about being part of a drug raid at a party. Well... it's 6 months later and that even has come back to take care of unfinished business. Apparently everyone's urine tests came back positive. Everyone. I pretty much expected that i would test positive as i was sitting in one of the rooms when they hot-boxed it. Despite my opinion about using drugs in this country, i decided to let it go that night because it was NYE. Yeah... the one night i decide to let it go.

Anyway, so earlier this week one of the guys from that night had an accident (nothing major, really just scraped some pain off the car) and had to go to the police office to report it. Everything was handled right there and then, but the next day he got a phone call from the police saying he had to come back to give them some other information. When he got there he was pretty much taken away by the DEA immediately. He spent the night in a holding cell. Next day he was told to buy himself a ticket home. He left the country yesterday (deported). Tonight i heard that 3 more people suddenly left the country during the past week.

I handed in my resignation today. I was still under probation so luckily there's no need to give them any sort of notice. Took care of a few personal matters. And now all i have to do is explain this shitstorm to my parents.

Ouch, best of luck with that Nox, sounds like a shitty situation to be in.

I start working at McDonald's again tomorrow. Should be really hot and we're in a pretty touristic area so it'll immediately be a busy day to start off, but oh well.

Jesus that's a ridiculous overreaction to some kids smoking weed at a party. Here the cops would just take your weed and paraphernalia and maybe give out some underage drinking tickets.

This entire experience was a massive eye opener to me though. One of the girls contacted me earlier. She actually had to spend a night in a holding cell too. She said the things she saw there shocked her. It disgusted me having to hear this.

She said that one of the women there gets beaten by her husband. One night the cops came from a domestic disturbance call and took both of them, and their two children to jail. The husband when to the men's prison and she and the kids went to the women's prison. Yes, you did read correctly. She was sitting there with her 2 and 4 year olds. If i remember correctly my friend said they had been there for 4 months now. Or two week. Can't remember. But [bleep]ing children?

Another girl from i think Thailand has been in there for a year. 2 years ago she met a guy from Qatar while he was away on holiday in Thailand. They fell in love, he asked her to move here with her. They lived together for a year when one day the cops stormed into their apartment, to catch him smoking weed, with a good amount of product laying around as well. She's been in jail for a year now, hasn't heard anything from him. Doesn't know if he's still in jail himself. Still waiting for him.

Then there was the lady that got [bleep]ed over by her employer. Basically this women was working for a family, as a maid. For those unfamiliar with how things work here, you need to be sponsored by someone (either direct family or an employer) to work and/or live here. Her employer was her sponsor. He was also one of those people who kept her passport, to make sure she doesn't run away (or whatever). One day they had to go to the police station for whatever reason. He gave her passport over to the police officer, and next thing she's in cuffs and on her way downtown. Apparently her residence permit expired 6 months ago. Not sure how long she's been in there for.

Oh, to top things off, there's no water there. You have to buy water, and you can only buy water in the mornings when they send someone to go buy it.

Hooray for human rights.

She told me that she didn't see any white people there. All of the women were either arab, indian (which includes pakistani, srilankan, etc.), filipino, asian, etc. When her dad came to bail her out, while they were doing the paperwork, he said something along the lines of "Your british friend won't go through all this trouble. She'll just sign a few papers and get on a plane".

Ever since i started studying to be a pilot my dream was to work for Qatar Airways. Obviously that dream will never be a reality now, but perhaps it's for the best. As much as i hated admitting this in the past, this country will never change. It's funny how Qatar is always in competition with Dubai. Sometimes they out-do Dubai, but the one thing they'll never be able to out-do is basic human rights.

I mean.. Isn't Qatar pretty notorious for laughable drug laws?

I don't really know. Pretty much anything and everything is a taboo here. And one thing i can specifically remember is that anything containing codeine isn't legal. Not sure why. Remember hearing a story about a year ago of this British guy who went to pick up medication that was mailed to him, at the hospital. When he asked for his package he got arrested and spent some time in jail (i think it was a month) because the medication he was to pick up contained codeine.

I also don't think you can get aspirin here.

But they weren't this drastic with things in the past. From what i've heard this is a new thing. They pretty much decided that if you test positive for drugs they just deport you. If you're caught selling they'll keep you around. Torture you a bit till you give them enough names, then let you go. Just when you think they forgot about you they'll repeat the process. When you've got nothing more to say, they deport you (after some jail time of course). In the past if you tested positive i think you just spent a few days in jail, or something. Wasn't nearly this drastic.

You take cough syrup that has codeine in it and mix it with soda and then drink it to get high. It's pretty common in the southern US and people go to the hospital because of it all the time. I can't really blame them for making it illegal. I just think they go a little over the top with their enforcement.
