I got an MRI in 3 weeks and specialist in a month and I need an ACL reconstruction.

Read that it costs $50k in the USA.

Guess what it costs me?

So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends.

RPG is constantly dealing with psycho exes.

Muggi reminds us of the joys of polygamy.

Saq is totally oblivious to how much chicks dig him.

I strike out every other week.

Kalphite wages a war against the friend zone.

Randox pretty much stays rational.

Etc, etc

My sisters was free as well. #Canada #SocialistAmerica

And now I feel like a massive douchebag.

On the one hand, the waiting times in countries like Canada are crippling. On the other hand, at least you will eventually get care, and you still have the option to go the private route if you have the money or feel like remortgaging your house, so nothing lost in that regard I suppose. I know they do make efforts to see critical cases in a more timely manner. Fortunately, I've only had to deal with more immediate care issues so far in my life. Also, I think the trick is to see all the specialists you'll ever need to see while still in the children's system (children's hospitals are much faster about scans and specialists; you can't put that stuff off with people who are still growing), and then you'll never need referrals because you file will be handed off when you become an adult   ;)

An idea pitched was to add more Nurse Practitioners to the ER room since they're cheaper to hire than doctors and most injuries only require a Nurse Practitioner to look at them anyway. Should cut wait times by quite a bit.

I do have my freedom intact, otherwise I wouldn't be posting here.

We too have the option to go the private way, but instead of $50k it would have cost €1800. Your prices are WAY overinflated. And we have pretty much the same world-class equipment and doctors as you have in the US.

NP's are fantastic. My local GI department uses a bunch of them. They have I think 3 GI doctors, and each of them has 2 NP's. When you have an appointment, or an issue, you deal with your NP instead of the doctor, and then the NP consults with the doctor (and the Doctor will see you in person as needed). It allows the hospital to do way more with fewer doctors, because the NP's can deal with most issues themselves (prescriptions, and some of the treatment options, ordering tests, all that good stuff). The only problem is that Nurse Practitioners are super rare here. We have way more doctors than NP's, so there aren't close to enough of them for all departments to do this.

One thing we did cotton onto at least as far as the ER goes is staffing the triage department with Paramedics instead of Nurses. They're better at assessing people with unknown issues.

I worked for 14 hours and by the time I got to my party, it was over. And some homeless guy threatened to kill my girlfriend. Not my favorite halloween

I was going for a run this morning and somehow ended up with what I can only describe as a metal splinter in the middle of my foot near the end. It was rather painful so I took off my shoe, then sock...and there it was. Luckily I just pulled it out cleanly, put it back on, and kept running, but it does seem rather weird that it would go all the way through my (somewhat thick, mind you) shoe...

I don't really post here much, but just thought I'd check in after a while.

Had a really lovely Halloween this year, board game night with a few friends I've known for about a month now. It turns out people that want to be maths teachers are all awesome :D On that topic, its been the most amazing experience so far. I always had it in the back of my mind that I enjoyed the idea of teaching, but I'm so incredibly glad I jumped into it and started training. It's only been a month and its been pretty mad but such fun too!

At the same time, I moved out of my parents house too! I thought it'd just feel a lot like university, but sharing with just one friend is really nice, compared to around 4 or 5!

Anyway hi TIF

“I had a feeling we weren’t coming back from this fight when it began.”

“Do you have any regrets?”

“I don’t. It seems surprising, I know, but I wouldn’t change a thing. This is how it was meant to be.”

“Huh, you never really notice how lovely the day is until you realize you’ll never see it again.”

“Mmmhmm.”

You should've watched twitch installs arch linux

I actually saw a little bit of that, but Bob Ross and the associated chat was much more entertaining.

Or when he makes those sounds as he moves the knife across the canvas, the chat goes all onomatopoeia.

Made a complete and utter fool of myself on national TV.

Like, the mess-up of the decade.

Luckily, it won't be shown until January. But still.

In other news, will be going on a regular doctor's appointment for the first time in years. Wonder what face she'll do when she hears that I've been to the ER 4 times since my last appointment :D

Also, last time I was there I was diagnosed with anemia. Wonder what will be found this time.

I'm thinking of becoming a Nurse Practitioner myself even though I'm technically in Pre-Med. So it'll be a strange transition for me.

Good halloween but I wish I had been awake for more of it.

I got drunk fairly quickly, I don't remember going to the club but I remember being there.

About five people were around me giving me water. I passed out in the club but got up an hour later and got taken home by my flatmate.

Slept in bed for idk how long, then I (still drunk) enjoyed the rest of the night with people even more drunk than I was.

I really don't think I will be drinking to that level anymore, I'd like to remember all of my night in the future.

Yeah probably but I don't often forget things that happen when I'm drunk.

I genuinely did not remember any travelling done yesterday, but I remember conversations and jokes made.

I remember all photos taken and videos made although there's a couple that I just look gormless in - at least my head wasn't spinning or anything.

Turns out that I am 202 cm's tall now.

Also, I had iron-deficiency anemia 4 years ago and right now the situation is such that it is a miracle that I am not magnetic.

And I didn't even finish with my pills!
