My trusty media storage drive may, or may not, be dying, though I think I just accidentally figured out that my PSU is failing spectacularly to supply sufficient power to my 3 storage drives on a cable, so that's going to be fun to fix (though I'm 90% positive that I've had them wired that way for a long time). In any event, chkdsk time.

My computer has developed a weird issue where it runs like molasses when it starts, until I run a game, at which point it runs fine thereafter (though now I'm wondering if my power setup isn't at least playing into this issue). In any event, rather than waste too much time working that one out, I'm reinstalling Windows since I need to do it anyway (it's a BIOS installation, and my new GPU will need UEFI), and it means finally moving windows to my SSD (this was impossible to do while I was still in Windows 7 if I didn't want to buy a new license). I need that media drive working though, since it's supposed to play host to all the information from the other drives (the SSD needs to be reformatted, and the primary HDD should be reformatted and properly partitioned). Jury is out on whether I want to convert the media drive to GPT too. It'll take a long time, but as the drive gets older, having that drive be a single partition is starting to get pretty scary.

In any event, at Windows behest, the media drive is going to have to undergo a full chkdisk recovery and fix procedure, so that's fun. At least my computer can keep running.

Oh, and my front USB 3 ports aren't working again. Probably bent a pin. Not a fan of that header design; the pins should never be the first thing to engage (because pins bend if you do that).

I should probably look into testing my PSU too. Bah.

Media drive isn't dying, it's just writing to a Hard Drive experiencing frequent unexpected power loss causes corruption. Shocker. I figure I'm probably in for a new PSU, but in the meantime I need to see if I can keep all 3 drives running by using both lines, or if I need to rig my spare PSU to run some of the drives (because that wouldn't be excessive in any way).

Few days late on this, but the reason i was so grossed out by a girl asking me to have sex with her while she's on her period is because blood really freaks me out. There have been occasions where i would faint at the sight of a lot of blood. I even faint sometimes when i have to get blood drawn from me. So the idea of having sex with someone on her period... Yikes.

Yeah, I could see that being a problem if you faint at the sight of blood.

I managed to deal with my computer by putting my second hard drive onto a different line (but still the same rail). Not sure why 3 drives on one string was giving it issues, but there you go. Should be able to move things around so that I can plug my DVD drive back in too. In any event, my SSD is now copying to my media drive while Steam Downloads to the main drive, and nothing is losing power, so all is good. Probably still want to replace my PSU though. I think Solid Gear falls into the 'makes PSU shaped objects' segment of the market, or close to it. But then, that information comes from people who probably haven't given anyone else a chance in the last half decade, so I've never totally sure.

The probability of rolling n in 1..8 is 10^n * 9 / 2.1b. When n = 0 it's 10/2.1b and when n = 9 it's 1.1b/2.1b.

So

0: 4.6566128730773926e-9
1: 0.000004190951585769653%
2: 0.00004190951585769653%
3: 0.00041909515857696533%
4: 0.004190951585769653%
5: 0.04190951585769653%
6: 0.41909515857696533%
7: 4.190951585769653%
8: 41.90951585769653%
9: 52.38095238095239%

Btw a good function to weight your distribution to the high end is sqrt. In your case, generate a number between 0 and 100, then take the sqrt of it

Was abroad for a day again.

BTW, Estonians beat Canada 16-4. In floorball, which is hockey, but on a hardfloor and with a ball. Shame!

Ran into my ex's neighbor last night. I've had a tiny crush on this girl for years now, but it never went anywhere because who knows. Anyway, hadn't seen her in about 2 years or so. Bumped into her last night as i was leaving. She told me how much i've changed and hiw much different i look from the last time she saw me. Now she seems really keen on getting together before i leave for Greece in a few days. When it rains it pours.

Lol I have a memory leak

how the [bleep] do you debug a memory leak in javascript ???

I have relied on garbage collectors for too long

nvm I figured it out 5 minutes later. I was adding everything to the stage and the stage held onto the references of every sprite I created so the GC never removed them. Now I just clear the stage every frame and I use like no memory

I had a memory leak recently and used Valgrind to track it down.

My program analyzes gigabytes of data, and small test cases didn't leak. Running it through Valgrind took forever. But after I reviewed the log, it was trivial to fix the leaks.

Not really. Field hockey is on a grass field with a rubber ball and borders like on football, floorball is played in a rink. Sticks and balls are both super light and have holes in them to be more aerodynamic.

Traveling to Greece tomorrow, for a week. Excited to get away from home for a bit, but not too happy that it's in December. It's going to be so damn cold. I remember going in November-ish last year and the cold was pretty much unbar able for me.

What is it, like 15 degrees Celsius there?

That's our summer.

When Estonia ever gets to 50 degrees in the summer, let me know. Till then, comparing your weather system/tolerance to mine is pretty much irrelevant.

you should be aware by now, Estonians are utterly flawless

Hey, this forum wouldn't be suitably diverse without the requisite Estonian nationalism.
