Iirc, UK has a system where you don't pay back your student loan until you reach a certain level of income. And that income is pretty high, meaning paying back the debt should not be that much of an issue. Also, the interest rates are really low, as it is guaranteed by the government.

Erm... the income is like £25k per annum so I wouldn't say it's -that- high

Well, it might be quite possible to get the degree in UK and then work back in Estonia without getting paid that much. But I imagine you could live relatively well with £25k a year, couldn't you? I mean, I lived relatively well with €10k a year back home. And about €3k of that was spent on travelling aswell...

There are lots of areas in the US where you can live really cheaply...there's a huge disparity. Not so much in Canada...although there are some cheap areas.

WINTER OLYMPICS!

Always enjoy watching the Olympics. I remember getting up early a few days in 2014 for Sochi. The 12 hour time difference is a bit of a bummer though. A lot of the alpine events (jumps!) tend to run early morning through early afternoon I think, so we'll see what I can catch live.

I caught myself after slipping on the stairs coming down from my computer loft yesterday. Have a nice cm long friction burn on the side of my left middle finger. Used way more cold and ice than is recommended, but it beat feeling like I was holding my finger in a flame. Feel a lot better this morning, but I still have sensation in the area so I think it's starting to heal nicely. And I was getting so good at playing minecraft with one hand last evening (I have enough thumb buttons on the mouse).

Can't see the olympics, as have no TV or paid cable and geoblocking and my VPN subscription ended just a week ago due to me being completely broke...

First time since... ages that I haven't seen the opening ceremony.

Oh well, at least there is Youtube.

From what I understand, Canada is more urbanized than America, which probably contributes to that.

I had to turn in a draft of my first essay to an online tutoring service paid for by my college. You want to know the feedback?

"The essay was perfect."

I had to argue which of two articles on the same subject better expressed themselves. To be honest I think I didn't cite enough examples from one of the articles. We'll see what my instructor says.

(To be fair, I helped a family member through his/her English courses so I have a big advantage.)

...

Also, a family friend took me driving for the first time today. IT WAS INCREDIBLE. I practiced in a parking lot for roughly 1-2 hours and then we went on empty country roads for a bit (~30 minutes). The biggest problems are 1) over steering 2) acceleration. It seems like I press the gas pedal even a little and the car jumps forward, why. :(

...

Oh, and if nothing comes up (e.g., scooter repairs or something), my brother and I should have over 3 months of expenses saved up (hint: rent/utilities/food/misc cost us $1500/month) by the end of February. The extra income from the job is amazing, it completely goes into savings.

In fairness, those are pretty common first-time-driver problems, especially the acceleration bit.

I mean, it even depends on the car. My car has a somewhat stiffer gas pedal so I drive it done but my Mother's car is very touchy so when I get in hers I feel like I'm racing or something until I remember.

Just get a real car. With manual, that is.

Kinda can't believe it, but in a few days I'll be taking the current world's longest continuous flight. 18 hours trapped in a plane.

Can't wait to see home.

Tried streaming the opening ceremony but no one's got it up for free. I miss when the internet was still a lawless wasteland

I had the pleasure of working in an industry where geolocating was of immense importance. Damn how good these stuffs are nowadays.

On the subject of cars, mine wouldnt start tonight. Random guy saw me having troubles, listened to it crank for 5 seconds, and immediately knew I just needed to press the gas pedal to get it to start.

I tried googling how in the world he knew that, or how it even helped, but google thinks I'm a dunce that knows nothing about cars (accurate)

I was messing around with Unreal.

Well, more like getting models made in Blender to import into Unreal.

Took about three hours to find the right settings...

I'm finally going to have a fridge again after it's been broken for 2 weeks and I cannot tell you how excited I am to eat something that isn't a premade meal from trader joes

Did you have to stash food outdoors to save it?

Lol unfortunately it's not cold enough in Seattle for that to work. Had to dump my entire fridge and start from scratch ;_; I've never seen so much moldy cheese in my life
