Arceus
I had that job interview, and after a while they asked me some coding questions. I answered it for the most part and then they disappeared for about 20 minutes and sent me home early because my coding skills weren't good enough. I don't think I did that poorly...it was kind of surreal. "Fight for what you believe in, and believe in what you're fighting for." Hedgehog
I had an interview once where they had me make a small project, then rejected me without saying why. So I asked why and like 3 weeks later they responded with a huge list of nitpicky bs

Arceus
so I interviewed someone today as part of a panel. tl;dr Holy shit this guy was qualified but I have no idea what he would actually do there. So he has 20 years of impressive experience, a ph.d, a patent, management experience and everthing. As a dev I saw he listed that he worked on a pipeline to render CAD models in real time on light hardware, anyone whos worked with CAD has dealt with how ridiculous their polygon count can get so i was genuinely interested. He says that this was all done manually and not automated. So that was pretty disappointing. I'm thinking maybe he would be a good product owner (scrum) because hes had his own businesses and management experience but then its like idk once he explained that. idk I feel weird to be on the otherside of the interview, especially with how early I am in my career. Especially walking away from it feeling he was overqualified and didn't really know where he would fit in. I had that job interview, and after a while they asked me some coding questions. I answered it for the most part and then they disappeared for about 20 minutes and sent me home early because my coding skills weren't good enough. I don't think I did that poorly...it was kind of surreal. What was the question? It was fizzbuzz, calculate n!, then find the duplicate in a list (which I kind of did but only as an O(n^2) method, couldn't think out a faster way on the spot). After that they asked a more free-form question of what sort of code you would use to design an electronic system for a library. Estonian dude
@RPG, I thought you were already fairly committed? And this is the first summer in like, ever that I am not the whitest swan around. Working outdoors with THAT freak weather we've been having here (seriously, farmers are importing hay and grass from the States now, so dry) has given me a fair bit of a tan. My legs are still fairly white as I have to wear long pants, but my upper body has some quite massive tanlines... Also, really need a shave and a haircut, last time I had one was on 2nd of March... Kalphite
Yeah I'm committed, but everyone in Seattle was just so hip and young YOOO you're here dude?? Let me know if you want to meet up for a drink or something at some point!! Haven't been posting here as much but I'm finally moved into my new place!!! The place is [bleep]ing dope with a massive balcony (like twice the size of my old bedroom). I'm mostly unpacked at this point and everything is feeling a lot more calmed down now. Only thing left to do is figure out seating cause my roommate and I have no living room or kitchen furniture so there is nowhere to sit and chill yet which is a bummer. Making an Ikea trip tomorrow and grabbing a couch from a friend this week so hopefully between all this we should be able to finish getting this place mostly homey soon! but yeah I'm really liking the new neighborhood so far and I'm super excited to finish getting this stuff sorted out
Arceus
@arc hashmap it iterate over list and add each entry as a key and if the key already exists break the function and return that key as the duplicateWell I know the solution to say clear duplicates out now: print([item for item in set(list_a) if item in list_a])just not when they asked me. I have a 2 hour technical interview tomorrow with someone else so we'll see how it goes. I hope it's not really 2 hours... 2 "Fight for what you believe in, and believe in what you're fighting for." Seattle was super nice though. I was staying in Ballard, walked like 47 miles in 6 days. It was tight. Highly recommend going to the new Heritage Distillery on NW Market.
