Mafia is soooooo 2012. it's all about Town of Salem now.

Today I went to a bar to celebrate my buddy's 21st. My one friend hit a new level limit and crashed into a forest on his way to the second bar. Slight guilt over letting him drive. Kind of his fault for not stopping himself though. He's alive, but now he has major hospital bills and a DUI he can't pay on top of the car loan he already couldn't afford. Life's tough.

So i had a pretty interesting night on NYE. Went to a party. Everything was going good. The clock struck 12, everyone was celebrating. Not sure how much time passed, but next thing i know the front door bursts open, ~15 cops stormed in. We're all pushed up against walls, pockets emptied, people yelling, freaking out, crying. No one knows what the hell is going on. After the initial 15 minutes of absolute panic and chaos we realise it's the DEA and we're being drug raided. They searched the house, found some stuff, we were all loaded in the back of a bus and transported to the Medical department of the DEA. We all had to take urine tests, etc. Some people actually did smoke. Before or during the party is unclear. Some people were actually just back in town for the holidays, didn't smoke here, but smoked prior to coming. Either way, they're [bleep]ed. Some people are bound to show up positive on the urine test just due to inhaling the amount of smoke that was hanging in the air. A matter of wrong place and the wrong time for a lot of people.

Eventually got home at 3pm the following day. What a crazy experience. Not how i wanted to start 2015, but you know.....

Yikes Noxx. Scary stuff.

Last night was my friends 21st. Went bar hopping, the usual stuff. Decided not to drive, so I hop in the car with my buddy Al. Almost with my other friend but I'm glad I didnt because he ended up with a tree in his passenger seat and ended up calling me maybe 6 minutes after leaving the second bar. He didnt even say anything at first, I kind of just knew it wasn't a good sign so in the silence I asked "did you get into an accident" to which I got a very dazed and kinda drunk "I [bleep]ed up bad...but the cops just rolled up so I think its cool now" and then he hung up.

Subsequently met with loads of snap chats of him getting loaded into an ambulance and in the hospital.

Luckily he only hurt himself and his car he already couldn't afford to own. But I was almost in that car with him.

Stay smart kids.

I find myself in a gym and I have not made any resolutions or promises. Turns out I am in a lot better shape than I feared, might even go again.

I fixed my little brother's computer today, or at least I hope I did. It had a bunch of spyware and stuff on it and my father was insistent on running the one AV program that he likes (Symantec). I went and got Malwarebytes anyway, let it find and clear 950+ suspicious files, and that seemed to fix it up, at least for now. We'll see...

I haven't been exercising since my knee went in May 2013 and now I went to gym yesterday, ran 9 kilometres today and already promised to go to the gym with my flatmate tomorrow.

Why wouldn't you have gotten surgery to fix said problem a year and a half ago?

Maybe he can't afford it

He lives in Estonia, biggest issue would most likely be the wait times for surgeries.

Even if money was a problem, this has been more than long enough to save up for the costs. Also, I have no idea how insurance works there.

The cost of an emergency room visit is criminal. I got a concussion a few years from snowboarding on NYE, I don't remember a second of my time in the hospital, but from the medical bills I received over the following weeks it must have been one hell of a party. I had close to $4k in bills, just to tell me I was 'Ok'. Ridiculous, our healthcare system here in the US.

I haven't gotten a surgery cause the doctors said after the first 2 times that I didn't need it, I only needed physiotherapy.

Now the third time they told me I need a surgery, but that was right before summer and I was in Norway in summer. I should have gone back, but I haven't done it yet.

But right now, I think I should go this week now...

And everything is free for me here. State-run medical insurance FTW!

The thing about medical care in America is that without insurance they charge you some outrageous price. If you have insurance, the insurance negotiates a better rate for themselves, and you still have to pay a chunk of that amount but the entire bill is far less than the bill they send you if you walk in with nothing.

Yeah, but to an extent it's still ridiculous. I have to pay about $750 every three months just for stuff to keep me alive, plus the cost of insulin and test strips, which are like $25 copay [costs less because 'preventative' as in it prevents death] and $100 copay a month respectively. Every four years I have to get a new insulin pump which costs around $5000 which my insurance company will only pay if I've hit my [ridiculous] deductible - $10,000 for the family per year. These costs are actually worse than before the ACA garbage happened and it's only getting worse.
