I rewatched 4 and 5 last week. In 4, it is implied that Luke's father (unnamed) and obi wan fought alongside one another in the clone wars. Episode 5 reveals that obi wans padawan was Darth Vader. Episode 5 later reveals that Luke's father and Vader are one in the same

Also fun fact I picked up on after rewatching: Leia isn't revealed to be Luke's twin until ep 6, and it doesn't seem that Anakin had any clue she existed (he looked right at her and didnt seem to care about her life in ep 4).

2nd note: when Luke flees Dagobah in ep 5, Yoda and Obi wan have a dialogue where obi wan professes anxiety over Luke's potential failure and Yoda assures him by saying "worry not, there is another"

And I REALLY dont think he was referring to Leia as I had thought when I was a kid as she possesses no particular skill with the force or inclination to be a Jedi. Could the Sith representative in ep 7 be this "other" ? (As in the guy with the hilt saber)

Considering episode 3's ending it's plausible given that both Yoda and Obi-Wan knew about the twins, Yoda could be in fact referencing an unknown power, but in reality it made for a dramatic effect when it came time for the Leia reveal, which I think is what it was.

I found out that one of my tarantulas escaped her enclosure some time last night..... It is just a race against the clock to find her before my roommate wakes up or she winds up dead somewhere.

EDIT:

Found her. <3

“I had a feeling we weren’t coming back from this fight when it began.”

“Do you have any regrets?”

“I don’t. It seems surprising, I know, but I wouldn’t change a thing. This is how it was meant to be.”

“Huh, you never really notice how lovely the day is until you realize you’ll never see it again.”

“Mmmhmm.”

I have slight hopes I'll be able to access Season 5 legally - Normally that would require a 24-month subscription to PayTV for 17€ per month, so essentially 200€ per season as I can get everything else I want through Amazon Prime and Netflix. But there's HBO Nordic which has a monthly subscription, but I have to find a good proxy to use that. Else I'll have to use illegal streaming I guess...

HBO has episodes 1-4 for purchase from what I hear.

I let some of my friends convince me to go to a club last night for the first time and holy shit i've never been anywhere that reeked of desperation that badly lol

Just desperate guys or girls too?

Last night was AWESOME!

Got over 80 people together to party. From all over the country.

Went a bit over the budget, but will manage.

So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends.

RPG is constantly dealing with psycho exes.

Muggi reminds us of the joys of polygamy.

Saq is totally oblivious to how much chicks dig him.

I strike out every other week.

Kalphite wages a war against the friend zone.

Randox pretty much stays rational.

Etc, etc

There is so much pod racing in the extended cut of Episode 1. The introductions for every single racer is both kind of awesome and boring. Giving it some thought, I realized that I pretty much universally hate the B plots in all the Star Wars movies. Whenever the cast splits up, I always find one of the arcs boring once I've already seen them. Also, the movies weren't exactly planned out from the beginning.

The droids are a different case. They're portrayal in episode 3 makes no sense within Star Wars lore.

I dunno. The prequels definitely lost something besides the weird injections like comedy droids or Jar Jar, though I can't really describe it. I don't know if I were seeing them for the first time today if they would feel enough like Star Wars for me to accept them, or if it's just because of when I saw them. I'm also not entirely convinced that there isn't an impossible standard for Star Wars to meet simply because of when it was made. That is, it's hard to do something now exactly as it would have been done then, and also that we can't go back and see them from the same viewpoint. Times have changed and so have we. That's not to defend the failings of the prequels, just that I don't think we can ever have 3 more just like the originals, even with their respective directors.

Today, I got called charming and charismatic. For probably the first time ever.

Also, wrote an essay until 5.30 AM and then slept properly in so that I woke up at 3.30 PM...

Gotta write 2 more essays and I have an exam this week. Pretty hectic.

Better do something nice for him soon.

Just showed my girlfriend episode 2, so she's seen 4 5 &2 now. 6 minutes in she commented on how weird and different episode 2 felt compared to 4 & 5. Its a glaringly obvious difference. And id never realized how annoying Anakin was in episode 2, but he's practically a twilight protagonist.

I wouldn't have shown her any of the prequels till after 6, if at all. They're so poorly scripted that Anakin's past is almost better left to the imagination IMO

So I'm sitting in here sweating after going for a run (and it's only like 57F outside), and TWC is going on about 18 inches of snow in the mountains somewhere. *Sigh* it's going to be a long summer...

My coworkers are [bleep]ing incompetent. You'd think guys getting paid 800 bucks a day would have some basic teamwork and communication skills. I've lost track of the amount of time I've wasted because of redoing work, fixing up other people's [bleep] ups or lack of communication.

Back from my trip to Cairo, got kinda [bleep]ed on the way back by a delay on my first plane making me have to run all the way to my transit, and my bag is still stuck in Frankfurt but whatever. Had a blast though, was a really crazy week. First of all, I've discovered pretty much everyone there who has the money for it smokes hash. I'm not even talking about only the alternative types or something, I've smoked with an accountant (literally nicknamed Drunk), a doctor who lives in Saudi now, and even a law professor at the most prestigious university of Cairo (the American University of Cairo). That basically colored the whole week. Heard some crazy stories all around, like one of the craziest emergency room tales you could pretty much imagine, or how one guy who's been smoking his joints the same exact way for about 15 years learned how to roll like he did. Basically, the guy who taught him how to roll like he does now played a game with him when he started rolling. They would sit in his room, on the bed in front of the tv, and every time they rolled up, they had to throw (well, he described it as smashing) their joint into the opposite wall. If it broke, you owed the other guy 5 pounds (for comparison, you'll pay 10 for a lighter, 20-30 for a drink), and of course the joint would be broken.  That's how he learned to roll joints that were built to last, he said.

My sister received me very well, and she seemed really happy living there. She's of course the one that introduced me to all the cool people I met, which made for a very eventful week. We also left the city to go to a festival in Sinai at one point, sadly the weather was pretty crappy so we left before we actually even saw anyone perform. Kinda bummed we didn't stay there longer. It was on a beach, with a small campsite a bit inland in a stretch of desert. Pretty idyllic stuff to be honest, but the people I went with really didn't want to deal with the weather and we ended up leaving the same day we came. Last night we went to a club to kinda have a party on my last evening. We went there, and one of the guys we were with immediately ordered a bottle of Johnnie Walker's Double Black Label. Great [bleep]ing whisky, tasted so nice even on its own, and mixed with coke it was still very enjoyable. Got smashed, saw a belly dancer, had some laughs, then woke up this morning with a big hangover and had to get on my way to leave. All in all, really great trip.

Free Coachella ticket, by the way? Damn, sounds awesome. Enjoy it. And on the topic of Star Wars, I'm one of those people who's never seen it (yeah, I know right) and my friends and I were planning to hold a marathon some time soon, like we did with LOTR a few weeks back (also my first time). We're planning on watching 4 5 6 first and then the prequels, to see it in the order it was made pretty much. I'm pretty curious how the movies are, like I always hear how bad the prequels are and all, but the series is still really loved, and had a huge impact on people.
