Noxx 315 Posted May 1, 2017 Speaking of weight, i've been the same weight since the age of 16. Around 60kg, no matter what i do. I lived off junkfood for an entire two months and it did nothing to my weight.Really weird. I'm sure theres some problem with my diet, but i mean i'm still healthy so i see no point in fixing it. RpgGamer 1089 Posted May 1, 2017 I was that way for a long time as well. I spent nearly a decade at 120lbs, but here I am only 2 short years afterward at 150. On the bright side, 150 is a much "healthier" weight for my height, even if I'm not nearly as physically in shape as I used to be Quote Quote Anyone who likes tacos is incapable of logic. muggiwhplar 2221 Posted May 2, 2017 I deactivated my reddit account today. I feel like that website is sorta, for a lack of a better term, anti-intellectual >_> The site's design heavily encourages and enforces echo chambers. If you want to have a discussion about anything, you have to go to a subreddit specifically designed to counter the inherent echo chamber nature of the website. AFAIK, NeutralPolitics and AskHistorians are the only two subs which really encourage discussions... but even then, those subs are less about discussing opinions and more about getting to the bottom of the matter via facts and sources. Then there's ChangeMyView, but every time I check out the posts there, it's an OP with some distorted view of a controversial issue, and then the top post changes their view via logical fallacies which aren't enforced or moderated, and then the top post gets a little banner that says "OP changed their view!" >_> Then you can do a search for someone making the same argument as the top post, and that post will have a top post identical to the previous OP, with a banner saying "OP changed their view!" I guess this bothers me because you really have to read and digest both the OP and the delta'd responses and then use a lot of critical thinking to examine whether or not the thread is bullshit or not... which seems kind of contradictory to the whole nature of that sub. It's kinda scary to think that if you don't actually turn on your brain, and critically examine the content of those discussions, you might end up just seeing some thread that touches on an idea you're curious about, see that "OP changed their view!" and then think "Oh ok so OP's original thought is wrong" without actually reading the OP's original argument, the delta'd argument, and then comparing the two. Then of course if you want to discuss anything beyond the scope of those subs, your options are to either find a sub that shares your beliefs and constantly reinforces them while knocking down distorted straw man representations of the opposing views, essentially burying your head in the sand... or go to an opposing belief's sub and get ridiculed/silenced/downvoted over there. Finally, I feel like I've sorta outgrown that site. I think it's mostly aimed at college-aged people and younger, and I've been out of college for half a decade now so I'm always picturing someone way younger than me writing the posts I read. Anyways, I basically just asked myself, "If I could go back in time to when I start visiting Reddit, would I have done things differently?" The answer is yes, so cya later Reddit! :P
obfuscator 1005 Posted May 2, 2017 CanadaPolitics is pretty good too. Obviously Canada specific, but I've learned a ton from people on all sides of the political spectrum. But most of reddit in general is an echo chamber. "It's not a rest for me, it's a rest for the weights." - Dom Mazzetti
Dax 177 Posted May 2, 2017 When my mates and I first found Reddit, I remember they blasted me for using it to solely to look at pictures. I very rarely if ever delve into the comments for Muggi's reasons. I have no idea what the defaults are these days, but I've left pretty well all of them and tracked down smaller subs that are less garbage. If I do find myself in the big ones, like AskReddit and the like, I hide child comments. It makes it bearable, and hides most of the dumb inside jokes I've heard a million times. #KERR2016/17/18/19/20/21. #rpgformod
RpgGamer 1089 Posted May 2, 2017 I too Reddit for the memes. The comments are awful and while the average user may be 20-35 it seems the average poster is usually 10-16. As for deactivating the account, I'm not sure I understand why it's necessary. I've been on Reddit for well over 8 years now, likely 10. I've had probably a dozen accounts because for the life of me I never remember my passwords to the accounts that I choose never to attach to an email. At this point I don't even remember the names because I wanted them totally separated from the rest of my internet identity. Hope you enjoyed the ramble. Estonian dude 238 Posted May 2, 2017 Saw the best live performance that I have ever seen on Sunday evening. Winny Puhh, contender for the weirdest band of the world title performed at our fraternity house. Absolutely full house, packed, more than a thousand people came. One epic thing is that the band is about as old as I am, and they perform only a handful of concerts each year. Each member of the band has another, more paying job, so the band is just for fun and thus they give 110% on every performance. They also like to research a bit about the event and where they are and they have full unique costumes for every concert. This time, the main singer (dude) wore a red dress without anything beneath it and he also showed his bare butt once. The bass player ripped his shirt apart at the end and threw it at the public. For opening song they invited all the girls from the first row on the stage to dance. And had a 15 minute complete dance party. It was epic, to say the least. After that, the real metal began. I do not know a single other band that has 2 drummers. And where both are used a LOT. At the end of the concert, the 2 drummers did like a 20-25 minute drum solo after the rest of the band had left the stage. All alcohol was drunk up at the house, we had to drive around town to get some additional alcohol. In other news, got my first ride around town on a full motorcycle. A2 license compliant Honda CB500 was the wheels, 2016 model. Pretty cool, except I am a bit of a monkey on it, the bike is too small for me. Also, it behaves somewhat unpredictably at lower RPM's. So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends. RPG is constantly dealing with psycho exes.Muggi reminds us of the joys of polygamy.Saq is totally oblivious to how much chicks dig him.I strike out every other week.Kalphite wages a war against the friend zone.Randox pretty much stays rational.Etc, etc

Randox 421 Posted May 3, 2017 It certainly limits my reddit activities. That said, boards like TechSupport or BuildAPC tend to be good neutral ground away from the usual 'sides' (TechSupport has no inherent sides, and BuildAPC is a rare place where AMD and Nvidia fans aren't flinging shit at each other). Other than that, I mostly go there for game discussions when steam is being too childish.

Veiva 581 Posted May 5, 2017 I saw my favorite Shakespeare play, "As You Like It," tonight at the Cape Fear Botanical Garden. Last time I saw a play was on a field trip in middle school. I thought it was very well done. I loved the portrayals of Touchstone and Jacques. There was an interesting twist--Celia/Aliena's actor was mute, so Touchstone interpreted the sign language. Was worried for a few on how to get home, but a family friend was able to help. I got up there fine via Lyft around 6:00 pm, but couldn't get an Uber, Lyft, or plain old taxi home (around 10:00 pm). I think it was too far from Fayetteville proper. A sheriff stayed with me while I waited (after the garden closed), I thought that was nice.
Dax 177 Posted May 5, 2017 That was always a highlight of learning Shakespeare during school. We'd get down to the big smoke to see the play we were studying. Saw King Lear one year (My personal favourite Shakespeare) and Hamlet the next. Hamlet was neat-o because they had a chick play Hamlet himself. Minor, but interesting change. Horatio was a sheila too, but that had less of an impact. Now I've got more life experience behind me, I'd love to go see another play. Can't get overly keen for plays when you have to make fun of them with your mates outside of the classroom. #KERR2016/17/18/19/20/21. #rpgformod
Randox 421 Posted May 5, 2017 I've never been a huge fan of watching plays, but I did find them reasonably enjoyable when I got to participate. When I was in High School we did this thing where all the classes would divide up a single play such that every student got to be in one, sometimes two scenes. It could be a little confusing to watch, but I thought it was a good way to do things. My favourite though was when the drama students did a Cabaret style show and I got on the pit band. There were only 5 of us, instructor included, and we basically got a couple days off school to do rehearsals with the drama club. They also let (or made) us join them for their warm up exercises. Anyway, it was kind of like being in drama for all the fun parts without most of the work or memorising lines, so that was fun. The theatre also didn't have an actual pit for us, so we set up in the back corner where we could watch the whole thing (from behind). I think one year we went to see a performance of Hamlet where a lot of his lines were split off and used by two new characters, who were basically his conscience (the devil and angel). It was certainly a neat take, though it took me a while at the time to realise the conscience characters were just that, and none of the other characters could see or hear them. The year we saw Midsummer Nights Dream we got a glossary (which is my favourite of his plays that I am familiar with).
