Why do people look down on skill capes?

I am sick and tired of people calling me a "noob" because I like to wear my cooking cape around.

Stop looking down on people who have fletching capes or firemaking capes.

WHAT IS SO BAD ABOUT THEM?

Sure you can just buy your way to a 99 skill. But still that takes dedication. Stop saying how you can "AFK" train, because so far, no one I have seen training anything can possibly "AFK" train. Its impossible.

Why do people look down on 99 hunter? When they have 20 hunter? Just because people take the time to get a skill to 99 does not make them a bot or afk trainer.

Also, why is 99 fishing looked down on?

I am trying to get 99 fishing myself. Everyone calls me a botter or afk trainer just because I wont tell them my fishing level or do the emote for cooking.

In all seriousness, no skill cape should be looked down on because of the person way they got it. I hate it when people go on an on about how people with skill capes like fletching or cooking or firemaking should be dis-respected or stuff like that.

When they don't even have a skill past 90.

Also, why do people call me skiller when I tell them I buy my runes? WTF?

quite frankly i admire people with a fm cape, they have the attention span to do something so mindnubingly boring over a period of weeks...Also quest capes are seen as lesser capes, this annoys me too since ill be getting one soon :wall:

It is usually because they do not have the dedication required to get such a cape, so no one else must have the dedication to do it. Therefore, you must have cheated/AFK trained/botted to get the skill up to such a level.

Also, they are calling you a skiller because you have one or more skills at 99 without having a combat skill at 99 (you might have one at 98, they'll still call you a skiller). The fact that you buy your runes does not prevent you from being a skiller, it just means that runecrafting is not one of those skills.

Finally, cooking, fletching, and some other skills CAN be bought up to level 99, but you had to do something to get the money to be able to buy them up that high. So, in one way or another (unless you bought your gold), you did earn that cape, although most people who will use such taunts will not see it that way, or any other way which they cannot use to convince themselves that they are, in fact, better than you.

Harper128 is right. Jealousy is probably the main reason why people are like that. It's like all those stupid kids in castle wars that call everyone noobs every time they die then flip around and call people noobs when they win a fight.

True, any 99 skill is an achievement, but there are SOOOOOO many people with a cooking and/or fletching cape that it's almost sad. Some people when they see those capes will think (they just want to be like everyone else). That's pretty much how I felt when I went into pc early in July this year and said "WTF?!?!? WHY DO SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE VOID?!?!?!?" I got void 6 days after the pc updates LAST July...I feel pathetic cause now I'm worried that everyone will cll me a void noob for "being like everyone else" when really EVERY DAMN PERSON IS BEING LIKE ME!!!!! *sigh* I need some melancholic time <.<

Some people think that the amount of people that have it makes it less of an achievement. It'd be the same as if Slayer had 40k people with 99, People would look down on it.

Personally, I think those capes are the better ones, the owners have to endure the things you mentioned frequently.

I personally admire those that have the dedication and attention span to level that far. I certainly don't lol leveled wc and mining only as far as I needed to get enough money for a very colorful set of mismatched, trimmed, rune armor and some guthix robes. I certainly admire people who, unlike me, don't get impatient after the payday and start to do other stuff, like fight.

Every time someone in Fist of Guthix calls me noob I just tell them that they need to get more creative.

"People are idiots. Some just like to say they reported you to see your reaction, others are just spastic losers that believe everything is reportable, and others got banned and end up reporting everyone because they are mentally disturbed"

People are jealous. They know if they had the cash to buy their way to a 99 they would have done it already. So instead they fill the empty cape slot on their backs with lame insults & taunts against those who have pute the hard work & dedication into getting a 99 in a "buyable" skill.

Only fear God,

Know the weapons of the weak,

The weakness of the hard.

OR, and I am leaning this way. They look at their cash, realise they can get that cape with less than 10% of their cash and with only 2 weeks of time. And then they realise that that cape is just way too easy and not even a challenge. So they get better capes, capes that take a lot of money, time, and attention. Not something that's cheap, takes two weeks, and you can just not pay attention to all all.

Cooking and Fletching capes are not even worth the pixels they're made out of. Get the dyes by for an orange cape by yourself and wear that. Congratulations, thats worth a lot more respect than the Cooking and Fletching capes.

You want to here something even funnier? I was wearing my Hunter cape, and some dude with an untrimmed Fishing cape said, "Hunter cape is sooo common - everyone has one."

People with 99 Hunter = 4635

People with 99 Fishing = 8444

So... People just like bashing others' achievements to make their own look greater.

See when Fishing came out. Then see when hunter came out. Yeah. When fishing had been out for as long as hunter has been now, i gaurentee you that not as many people had it. Hunting is pretty easy.Although better than Cooking or Fletching.

A lot of people go for 99 Hunter because of the nice profit. I'm not saying it's a "hard" skill, but when compared to Fishing I think Hunter takes the cake (constant clicking vs AFK). The only factor Fishing wins in is the Xp rate. Besides, no one was crazy about 99's until Capes came out anyways - which was right before Hunter came out.

That's not even the point though. The point is, he said everyone had a Hunter cape while wearing a Fishing one.

99 Cooking is a good achievement. The thing is, it's just overshadowed by the harder skills so in comparison, it is one of the noobier capes. I still respect someone with 99 Cooking over someone without 99 Cooking though.

People don't look down on all skill capes. Maybe they look down on your skill cape because it is the easiest to get??

It is kind of like the kid who gets to be hall monitor. They were their little sash as a badge of honor when in reality it is nothing special.

I personally don't really respect any skill capes. Anybody with the time can get any of them fairly easily. By the same token though I certainly won't go around telling people they are terrible because they have them.

If you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.

i'm confident that you just had a bad conversation with a jerk and decided to make this topic. this is why i'm disgusted with the rant forums and why people need to get a hold of themselves. it isn't an on going problem. i never see anyone in the runescape forums posting crap about why they are teasing\harassing players with cooking capes or ingame when players wearing cooking capes are belittled by other players. if they're are calling you a noob, ignore them and move on. they're just being jerks and trying to make people like you to post these topic.

i find noobs that try more respectable than any skill cape owners. To me a skill cape is a sign of sadness, no offence to anyone who has them reading this, but that is my personal opinion. It takes something like 4 months of no lifing for 99 slayer, there for, that person has sat at there PC clicking for 4 months, for a few pixels. It just seems awfully pointless to me.

I think people who look down on skillcapes are just jealous. If someone says your a noob with it or something just do the emote^^. btw to abyssal_whip, wtf .... this is the place to rant. If you dont like rants dont go in this part of the forum ...

What I don't like about Skill Capes.

First off, I have never once asked someone to do an emote for me.

Secondly, players act like it annoys the hell out of them to be asked, then the next thing you know, you see them doing the emote endlessly like the true attention [bleep] they really are.

I don't mind seeing the emotes, it is like anything though. After you do it once or twice then carry on.

I was pick-pocketing the master farmer the other day and two people came up and started doing the quest cape emote. (which in my opinion is the coolest skill cape emote there is) They just kept doing it, and it really started to annoy me. I didn't say anything, cause I figured they would be like, your just jealous. No, I am not jealous, I am about to have an epileptic siezure, and I' not even epeleptic,

It is annoying when you are asked over ten times a day - especially when you're trying to do something else.

Do you really need that cape on to sit at the bank booth crafting or fletching. You like the attention, or you would bank it.

Don't lie

This is why, people love the attention, then turn around and talk about how annoyed they are.

Perfect example of why I don't like them
