TTanT
I'm currently reading the light novels for Toaru Majutsu no Index (A Certain Magical Index; the parent series of Railgun). I've read 29 out of the 31 light novels, and I'm planning on watching the anime once I'm all caught up with them. Is anyone here a fan of the series?I've made my way through a good amount of the series (to about where Acqua is defeated), but I can't take too much of the light novels because (whether due to translation or not) the writing in them can be pretty mediocre. On the other hand, there's nun punching and that makes up for a lot of it. The only difference between Hitler and the man next door who comes home and beats his kids every day is circumstance. The intent is the same-- to harm others.[hide=Tifers say the darndest things]I told her there was a secret method to doing it - and there is - but my once nimble and agile fingers were unable to perform because I was under the influence.I would laugh, not hate. I'm a male. :(Since when was Ireland an island...? :wall:I actually have a hobby of licking public toilet seats.[/hide]

TTanT
Which translated version are you reading? I'm reading the ones available on Baka-Tsuki and I'm enjoying them. I wouldn't say the writing is incredible, but it hasn't acted as a deterrent, at least. And yes, nun punching does fix any translational problem. The same ones. I guess it's mainly a matter of taste- the heavy use of onomatopoeia and caps lock tends to bug me. Estonian dude
Watched Princess Mononoke and Space Battleship Yamato 2199 (a few episodes), but these are my first ever animes. And I think I would be better off with feature films, since I have no time for series. But any suggestions/essential animes? So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends. RPG is constantly dealing with psycho exes.Muggi reminds us of the joys of polygamy.Saq is totally oblivious to how much chicks dig him.I strike out every other week.Kalphite wages a war against the friend zone.Randox pretty much stays rational.Etc, etc
Nexaduro
Watched Princess Mononoke and Space Battleship Yamato 2199 (a few episodes), but these are my first ever animes. And I think I would be better off with feature films, since I have no time for series. But any suggestions/essential animes?Everything ever made by Studio Ghibli, because they're the greatest. Spirited Away is probably a good pick. Besides that, look around for some shorter series. There are a good number with around 12-14 23-minute episodes; some even have movies that cut out some less important material and whatnot for a more concise storyline, usually with higher production budgets. I don't know your tastes, but Neon Genesis Evangelion (which is about giant robots) is something of a cultural icon and is 3/4ths of the way through a series of shiny new movie remakes (starting with "You Are (Not) Alone"), so that might be worth watching. If it turns out to be too depressing, you can try watching Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (which is also about giant robots). 10:53 PM - retech9691: I feel the need10:53 PM - retech9691: To include many chasms in my story arc10:53 PM - Resistance: You mean plotholes? nine naked men
heyyyy i finished snk after stopping somewhere 10-13, when the lack of budget or animators or time or whatever was getting real apparent. it's definitely very interesting, w/a lot of room for explanations and worldbuilding and stuff, so i'm probably going to keep watching. probably even read the manga, just to avoid being spoiled and stuff. i guess the action scenes will lose a lot not being animated but i'll deal. i'd watch hours of titans just running all wacky over the hillsides tho that shit rivals cute cat videos klk still da best sleep like dead men wake up like dead men
