The "Eye of Saradomin"

I'm not sure if I'm the first to find this, but I couldn't find anything on the RSOF or tif anyway. I apologize if this has already been posted.

I had an interesting chat with Wizard Elriss, involving the ring of charos. To get to that option you choose "what is this place" and then keep choosing the first option until you get to the charm option.

Anyway, here's the conversation.

[hide=]P = Player, E = Elriss.

P: You can tell me.

E: You do seem trustworthy. I suppose it can't hurt to tell you a little.

I am searching for an artifact that gives off a very specific type of energy. After many years of research, I think I'm finally drawing near.

POpt2: What artifact are you looking for?

E: I know you are an experienced runecrafter, unlike the wizards of this tower. Perhaps you will understand.

Have you ever wondered how the rune essence and the rune altars came to be? How the altars and the rune essence can work together when they are so spread out?

Some of the surviving records of the old Wizards' Tower, if read properly, suggest that there was one artifact that originally created the rune essence and all the altars.

The Wizards called this the Eye of Saradomin.

That is what I am looking for. None of the other wizards believe it is possible, which is why I am working secretly. When I find it, its power will be all mine.

POpt1: How are you looking for it? < --- this is the point where you apparently need to be wearing full rcer robes to continue.

E: You have already been helping me, actually.

I am using the Runecrafting altars to triangulate the artifact's position. Every time Acantha and Vief send teams through around the altars, the signal's position becomes a little clearer.

POpt1: You were using me!

E: People use one another. That is how life is.

Years ago, a treasure hunter used me on his quest for this artifact - used me in a far more hurtful way than I've used you. After he left, however, I worked out what he was after and it set me on this line of research.

If you are strong enough, you will learn from this. If not, I have no time for you and no sympathy.

POpt1: Who was it? What happened?

E: We were apprentices together here. He left after graduating, but a few years later he came back. I was young and naive and fell in love.

I thought he would stay at the tower but he never wanted me to be a proper wizard. He was a treasure hunter, stealing magical artifacts from tombs and selling them for base gold.

He used me to get at the tower's records and was never interested in me. He only wanted to look in the records for clues about the artifact's location.

I saw what he was reading and tried to help him, but he was angry. He wanted to keep his research secret from me! Once he had what he was looking for, he left me without a word.

Well, now I have no use for him. I went over what he had been reading and I found the clues he had found. I will find that artifact, and I will use its power to crush him like an insect.

POpt2: Well, good luck with that.[/hide]

From that, I can only assume that this is a teaser at a future quest involving Wizard Elriss' revenge and this Eye of Saradomin. If so, I'm really looking forward to it. Sounds like an excellent storyline. And, y'know, it involves runecrafting. ::'

Oooh, that's very interesting!

I wonder if we'll need full rcer robes to beat this quest.

Is it just me or do you also get the feeling that the WOM is the wizard that used her for that secret? Umm... Quest rewards: Cast spells without runes! Perhaps... Half of the runes needed for a spell! Twice the runes per essence! Free altar teleports forever! Safe abyss! Hear me Jagex? :P (probably not <_<)

Interesting, the story does remind me of another conversation with Movario a servant of Lucien In the Dorgesh-Kaan agility course, who also talks of finding a source of power through triangulation

Ya, said they were both apprentices, and didn't she say she loved him? Ain't the WOM a little too old though maybe?

True players never lose their game.

This could be an interesting new quest, it seems the WOM is going to have his own quest series. A good name for the second one "Swan Song Pt2" :)

Triangulation has been done already with the essence alters in that one quest - not sure what it was; but you had to enter 3 mines or something.

Anyway; looks like a spoiler to a new quest. I dont think it will require the robes, because this is just getting this new wizard to help. Im sure if your a more experienced runecrafter (65 or so?) he would have no problem knowing your a real runecrafter.

I would like to see him in a quest series, even though I never played Swans Song, could also get pretty indepth with the story/past of the game.

@BloodArgon: That was the mini-quest to get into the Abyss.

I recommend you try it, its a funny quest with some pretty interesting parts. If you love the WOM you'll also love Swan Song.

I think it unlikely that the man she talked about and the WoM are one in the same. Why? Well for one he is a bit old for her to have fallen in love with him. I'm not dismissing the possibility, but it does seem a bit unlikely.

More importantly, though, she said the man was a treasure hunter that hunts magical artifacts and sells them for gold. The whole reason the Wise Old Man robbed the bank was because he was discontent with the rewards his questing career had gotten him.

Maybe I'm wrong; I think it would be interesting if it were the WoM; but I doubt it.

My friend also found something else at the Dorreggesh-Khan caves. Once you have had the conversation in the runecrafting guild, go to these caves, grapple west and pickpocket a pendant of Lucien off Movario. Then speak to the pair claiming that you are from Lucien and you will find that they are looking for something in the area.

I went there and after wearing the pendant of lucien I found a charm option with the ring of charos. Movario said Lucien sent him to find "artefacts that give off a very specific type of energy". Sound familiar?
