Lugia_Lvl138
How do Broad Bolts stack up against the Crystal Bow? They're definately better than Addy for the price, and I would probably use them if I were under 99 Range and Slayer again. In fact, I think I should sell my Addy Bolts used for GWD kc and get Broad Bolts. 4x Phat owner: Blue, Green, 2x Purple 3100+ GWD bosses soloed.Solo GWD Drops:5 Bandos Plates, 4 Bandos Boots, 3 Bandos Hilts, 2 Arma Helms, Arma Skirt, Arma Plate, 3 Arma Hilts, 4 Zammy Spears, Steam Staff, 15 Sara Swords, 6 Sara Hilts, 29 Shards. alphakoldes
I used addy for a little while, someone tipped me off for basically a cheaper version of addy (broad), and I never looked back. Trained range through slayer recently from 96-99 or so just with broad bolts. I love em. -Man, I really do love Runescape, and I'm sure if it was a real person I would of asked it to marry me by now. spuriousmonkey
if properly kept track, 100 datapoints could have been enough for a reliable dataset. There are ways of testing if there have been enough datapoints. 1000 is just a random number with no statistical value in itself. It still could not be enough, or you could have ended up doing 900 for nothing, since the dataset hasn't qualitatively changed from 100 to 1000. So there is no need to demand 1000 since it does not have any statistical merit to do so. What you should ask for is a statistical analysis of the current dataset. And that would have shown whether the sample size had been large enough.
Randox
100 to 200 should provide an adequete sample size. However, if you have the time then each test should be conducted 2 times more (each) and an average damage should be made. If you don't feel like averaging 100 numbers or even entering them all into a spred sheet, then I would suggest that you either a) record every otehr hit bringin the total to 50 B) record every fourth hit bringing the tatal to 25, or c) record every fith hit to make a total of 20. Naturaly higher is better buy since I am asking someone else to do work, inapropriate to request a full 100 number average for 6 100 shot trials. Based on current data, I assume you can still see strong difference between addy and BT, and you suggest that BT hit higher more often.
entangle
I've been using Broad-Tipped for everything since getting back, they're really nice and cheap too. Hopefully the price won't rise. SwreeTak
For me runite would most probably be the best, since I want fast xp and I don't mind much about the cost. Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak

Perakp
BT bolts won't go up in price above ~70gp ea anymore, because it's so easy to use bots to make them. You can fletch 60k bolts per hours. The profits were huge, especially if you managed to buy feathers 4gp ea. Broad = Addy, imo. That was always said of broad arrows too. Smithing mithril bolts is nearly pointless now, I thought it was weird that there were no rants about this when smoking kills came out. Broad is underpriced and/or overpowered compared to the old bolts. New updates shouldn't make things obsolete, but be a trade-off in cost/efficiency. Krampell
Broad bolts are like bone bolts before they got nerfed, cheap and good as a more expensiver version. Broad bolts = Addy bolts. Bone bolts = Mithril bolts before nerf.

noble_skull
Nice work. I do have to disagree with all the people who say: check the xp/hour. It is hard to range at the exact same pace for all the time (paying attention all the time and staying in combat continuously), so it won't work. The better thing to do, is record your starting and ending xp for every type of bolt. We all know every bolt fires at the same speed with the same c'bow, so the highest xp/bolt will give the best xp/hour. Recording every single hit isn't going to be fun and won't really add much. @Dan3HitU
It's the same as the Arrows. Broad-Tipped Arrows have always been the equivalent to Addy, there was a guy who bought tonnes of them before Jagex actually put the price (shop) up and he made a few million with it too. This was as soon as Slayer was released. [-- DYNAMIC SIGNATURES FOR RUNESCAPE 3 & OLDSCHOOL 2007 RUNESCAPE --]

evil_mumm_ra
i used broad just because they were cheap, i was using bows and arrows before that, and i hated range, i still hate range, but bolts and c'bows make it all that much easier, and faster, i did 62-70 range with broad, and only used 3k bolts. 3rkid
Now there's a 55 slayer requirement (should have been in first place) so now they're even cheaper definitely the best bolts to use if you're 55 slayer because they're so cheap and effective.
