Since searching both through the search button and ctrl+F didn't reveal any official election thread since February 2008 I'm going to assume that whatever we had was lost in the forum rollback after our recent issues. Therefor, with all the presidential candidates being pretty much locked in by now, it's time to start a new one.

To start things off on a light note, I'll write your convention floor coverage right now.

"Uhhh, Tim, it looks like the plasma screens have a slightly sluggish colour gamut from here, but I have to say, considering the scale, they should be very happy with the contrast ratio."

"How many lumens is that, Necromagus?"

"Tim, I'm guessing its what we call in the business an Eclipse. From 500 yards, its as bright as the sun."

"Any sign yet of the actual, you know, Democrats?"

"Not yet, but this stage is here and its magnificent. The flying buttresses and slanted roofwork is impeccable historical work, a fabulous reading of mid-18th century Italian cathedrals use of trompe d'oeil and if I'm not mistaken, a little sprinkle of the Sagrada Familia as well. I have to say, to make it a bit more modern, it reminds me of the control room in The Prisoner, Tim."

".. What's that, Necromagus?"

"The Prisoner, Tim. Just one of many paranoid television and film references I'll be making throughout the convention coverage. One more thing to note, Tim, is that the Clinton reptoids have decided to shed their human skin prior to festivities here, perhaps to get the initial shock out of the way as a show of solidarity with Senator Obama. Insiders had feared that the sight of a couple of thousand screaming varicose juggernauts ripping apart the thin human facade seperating them from the pages of Boethius' Bestiary of the Pit might distract from the policy speeches."

"And the protests outside?"

"We're being told that the Denver police has strict instructions to only beat up white people this time around, Tim. Probably a good thing too, considering the way Fox has been playing those epilepsy-inducing Sambo videos all weekend."

"One last thing, Necromagus, has their been any word as to when the Vice-Presidential nominee will appear on stage?"

"Well, as you know, Tim, its going to be difficult. Ever since the Senator picked a fictional character as Vice-President, questions have been burning up the blogs and the press about just how the powers of the office would be executed... and.. oh, wait... here, speak of the devil! We can see him approach the stage for a test run, lets go in for a close up of our new potential veep..."

It's official (or, well, at least leaked by several major news sources): Biden is Obama's VP pick. Interesting choice; I'm cautiously optimistic about it.

I didn't know about all the third party candidates or who they are, would someone like to explain them all to me in a satirical way? :P

Everyone says they'll vote for Barack Obama, but i doubt he'll win. I said i'd vote for Barack Obama, but really in secret, if i was a legal adult, and could vote, i'd go off and vote for McCain....

As time goes on, I increasingly can't abide John McCain. Screw Obama's lack of experience, I'd vote on policies in this election. Not because I particularly love Obama's, I just detest McCain's.

I was flirting with the Idea of Bob Barr for a while but then I realized that was a wasted vote. Then I realized any vote casted in California was a wasted vote.

Anyway Obama just picked Biden. Best pick he could have made. Anything outside this country he knows what the deal is. The only guys who can stand toe to toe with him are Lieberman or Romney. Biden does have quite a mouth though. He's almost as funny as Huckabee. After the saddleback disaster this might help Obama a little. Now it's just up to McCain to pick his vp.

edit: All I can think about though is that Biden should be the nominee and Obama wouldn't even be qualified to be vice president. And that Biden was the one who wanted John Kerry to pick McCain for his vp.

My carbon footprint is bigger than yours...and you know what they say about big feet.

Mccain, policy and the fact that at least whatever he says I actually believe he means. Obama just seems idk how to say it, but just seems to say anything at all that will get him votes. Sure all politicians do adjust their positions based on situation (mccain changing his mind to support drilling when prices went up, anyone wanting to go after terrorists after 9/11 when they didnt before) but Obama to me just seems like he has very few actual policies. I know he wants to raise taxes on high income people and some other stock related taxes, and I know he has the strongest anti life abortion record in the senate. Other then that I think he will just say whatever is more expedient.

also anyone that says mccain is four more years of bush needs a new talking point, its gotten old.

looks like most people like obama. although im not that excited about mccain, obama seems like the kind of guy that would get elected, mess everything up, then leave. like jimmy carter.

there really are no good candidates this election.

Obama because all the cool people are voting for him. Nah, I like him because I agree with him on more policies. And I disagree with McCain on more.

I wonder if anyone in Boston will vote for the Boston Tea Party guy. Whoever he is.

Or vote for McCain. He'll continue to mess everything up from the start, and refuse to leave.
