Is rs in a recession =0

Recommended Posts

So, I'm the only one that thinks "If you buy and item, keep it."

Leesters taught me that back when I was jugling Barrows sets around for DK'ing or KQ'ing. Just save up, buy what you need, and KEEP IT.

SSSHT don't tell those secrets to have carefree rs live to everyone! :P

on a more serious note: I don't know about that "duping": Won't believe it if I don't see it with my own eyes. But I've heard from various sources about this problem now already (rsof, here, just in runescape at different world..)

On the other hand, I've seen with my own eyes there's a lot of panic selling going on: and when the pure ess was rising high a similar thing happened when there was a lot of panic buying..

I bet people will soon notice they still like their old weaponry: and buy it back.. Sure the price won't get as high as it was usual (just like the pure essence price after bumping to 170 ea never got back to 100-120), but I think it will go up quite a bit again in 1-2 weeks..

@nightzero: well I cancelled membership quite a few times in the past, 1 time for 1 year... But why would I sell my stuff: it's not like you actually ever need more than 10m as f2p!

I agree, duping is one of those things that you need solid proof to believe in.

Definetely panic selling going on, someone was accepting 2mil in junk for bandos tassets, too bad i had no junk at the time :?

Perhaps...perhaps...this is the problem with jagex talking about uptades to early..speculation makes the world go 'round(stocks) and its no exception in Runescape. I also believe that the new pking armour/weapons will be no replacement for GWD stuff, althought I am glad that I saved at least 6mil buying a dfs 3 weeks later than expected ::'

I just canceled my membership (20 days left) and I am selling most of my items, I'd rather sell my fury, bgs, etc, etc now rather than getting members in 2 months and finding out furies are 2mil and bgs are 15mil(just a random price)...so yea...also I need lots of money to alch in f2p...addy plates arent cheap =P

Oh Guthix, it better not be an item dupe, that's the last thing we need.

However, it might just be school starting and the upcoming PvP worlds.

[hide=The Dupe Thread from RSOF]
As many of you might have noticed. Prices for most of the "rare" items in Runescape are dropping drastically fast. You might not believe me or take it as a lie. But I suspected for a while that this was the effect of an "Item dupe."

I for one, used to be a part of that "crowd." I suffered a loss for that.(my account being banned) Alas I have come to agree with Jagex on their part though. Just recently I contacted some of my old sources, friends, etc., and they verified my suspicions.

There IS a dupe. In the next few weeks notice the steady decline in 3rd Age prices. That is the only "profitable" thing they could dupe now. It is getting out of hand.

I ask you, Jagex, to please try your best to resolve this issue. It is crashing our market, YOUR market, that you worked so hard to fix(Grand Exchange, trade limit,Removal of Player killing,Death of R.W.T,etc.) Now that I play regularly it is affecting me as well. I don't appreciate it, and I'm sure everyone will be with me on this one.

You many not believe me or just take this is a joke, but I'm serious. I have discussed the market value changes with several well known merchants in Runescape and they have also verified a drastic change that could only be caused by a dupe.

I leave it in your hands now. :(

Josh.

~epac~ out.

////////

I do NOT know how this is done otherwise it would be reported straight to Jagex. Currently the only knowledge I could weed out of them is that it involves Item Lending. I also have suspicions it has something to do with killing yourself with Zamorak Brews. I have noticed several people committing suicide with them with rares on at G.E. and several other places.

Edit:

I verified the suicide thing with another old friend. That's all I've got. I'm hoping this leads to a fix.

[/hide]

Seems pretty serious.

I've seen gravestones at the GE many times (I'm always on w99, if that matters). I thought the people were just messing around. I've never seen any 40 hits due to explosions at the GE, like what people use for dharoking.

Look at the graph for brews. If brews are involved in the 'dupe', there's a lot of people doing it, or a very small amount of offer for brews.

dupezamorakeekgd4.th.png

The PKing newspots surely didn't cause this, and I don't see why anyone would use Z. brews.

My friend saw someone selling SGS 13m + junk. Maybe it was a typo.

school just started for most people, so less are playing and taking a long break to study, so they sell their expensive armors since those fall in price, and since everyone did that all the prices fell in a short amout of time, and players started to panic because they saw the prices fall so they sold, and by this pattern it will go down more and more because players don't want to keep the expensive items

Some people said that guthans was dropping coz of ponies and bunyips but if that was the case they would have dropped a long time ago #-o I think it's because of the pvp update with the *set effects* hype.

But you know what it's like. They said the same thing about FOG robes and look how crap they are. Special *set effect* robes? Yeah... they sure are SPECIAL

The new pvp items could either be REALLY GOOD or REALLY BAD. I'm not counting my chickens just yet but i'm holding onto my AGS until it's further to the time. If AGS rises back up to 90M+ I might sell and invest in all the good stuff to make me some millions muhahahaa

But ya.. I was in W2 the other day and people were willing to sell dfs for 9M! It's insane.. :o

Good thing, I spent my money on a REAL Rare. The Red Mask. I check it constantly, but wow Guthans has gone really down! 1.7 mil is crazy for this short time period.

It's not a theory. I know it for the truth.

They're are using the accounts they dupe money on

and selling over-seas to make money in real life.

I've been told by several of my old friends that

are still in that crowd.

They're only duping certain items.

I suspected a dupe glitch too. The prices are

dropping too dramatically. It shouldn't even be

possible for such rare items like Ranger Boots and

Amulet of Fury to drop in price - unless there are

much more coming out (duping).

Zeeklar

For more evidence if you would please notice the

charts on God-Swords and other rare items after

the Lending update. They were not dropping at such

a fast rate until that happened. If ANYTHING they

should have increased in price due to people

lending more than buying. Which leads to less

people doing G.W.D to add more items to the

economy. In "reality" that should have caused

prices to increase. Yet.. oh wait.. they're

dropping...

For the 3a as I stated, "In the next few weeks". I

didn't mean right at this moment. Please use a

It has not happened in mass since the partyhat

incident, unless there were cases of 2-3 items

being copied that nobody cared about. Prices are

probably dropping due to summer ending, and the

over 50k real money selling these accounts. Now

O and the prices are cheaper, and 3rd age is

rising because there are more of them. They havent

done too many of those yet. Just the fact that

they have moved so much lately tells you

But you're saying they're duping stuff. As in,

they try to pull down bits of the economy from

within. I mean, you're pointing fingers here.

Sure, it's difficult to back up what you said,

considering the rules are so tight, it feels sort

-of like a jail - But, aside from one chart;

there's gotta be something from within RS borders

that you could use.

You're just going to get tagged off like some

They aren't trying to bring down the economy

inside they game. All these people want is MONEY

IN REAL LIFE. They are using this game to make a

profit and going from there. By doing so it's

causing the economy to fail within game. They

could care less what happens. These are mainly

little kids around 12-16(no offence guys/girls)

that have been banned for breaking the rules, and

are being led by a few older ones that are in it

for the money.

The concern they have for Runescape is only what

they can dupe next to make a profit for

themselves.

I am hoping a J-mod reads this. This is hard to

believe yet it is true.

The Evilpope

31-Aug-2008 05:31:08

So....

They are "duping" accounts, and selling them?

And Jagex isn't noticing dozens of the same

account, with the same stats, and the same items

all with no past of membership or anything?

Sorry. Come up with a better conspiracy.

The dupe that happened involving Phats used a

third party program that intercepted packets,

something that was fixed with-in HOURS of

discovery. And can no longer be done

*Scratches head*

Isn't it more likely the changes in prices are a

comibnation of a few things :

1) kids heading back to 'education establishments'

or off to UNI this year may know in advance they

wont have a lot of member time anymore, so they

were selling off their member stuff.

2) Other players seeing the 'small change' in

prices panicked about 'some imagined loss of pixel

GP' so they all began to panic sell.

3) JUNK traders got bored OR enough regular

plaeyrs with the gp to spare bought a lot of the

items up and began feeding the GE with them.

4) Jagexs way to get rid of junk trade (and all of

its risks) sare feeding items to the Ge

And ...maybe this 'dupe theory' is really a junk

merchanters way to try and get back the control of

what they see as their own personal money machine

back...by tryin to scare 'honest players' into

thinking they'll be banned if they buy an item

that 'might be a dupe'

---

Even better, they are making new accounts and

somehow going around the trade limit per hour...

Unless of course they are also spending the hours

required to create junk on those new accounts?

Prices should go up if all the godwars kids have

gone back 2 school. Most older people like myself

dont really gwd that much and skill more. Prices

should be doing the opposite...especially with the

Personally I detest junk trades. As you can tell

most of my levels are lower and I don't trade in

bulk. There is no reason for me to "attempt" a

profit out of a false positive.

Josh Mal21

In your post you said it involved killing yourself

with Zamorak brews, this however is incorrect as

Zamorak brews drop your health by a percentage,

thus once you reach 1 the damage done to you is

zero.

Stop scare mongouring; noone is duplicating

anything.

Josh you CAN kill yourself with Zamorak brews. Go

ahead and try it. You will die. Once you get to

1hp it will take a while, but eventually it will

hit a 1.

If it's all true, like hell they'll be able of

stopping it.

They had to cut on the Wilderniss, the freedom to

merchant and the player's self-build-economy for

gold farmers, because of RWT.

What do you expect them to do, to stop RWT-ers

using entire accounts to haul cash around for

currency?

(If thats the problem, that is. This thread is

confusing the heck outta' me)

I suggest you make your statements a bit clearer

in the future.

As the above can be taken quite easily as stating

they are duping actual accounts.

Though I see now exactly HOW you wanted it to be

Alrighty, can't let this thread countinue on any

I'm locking this thread, as its nothing more than

If this was really True... then you should go to

And if you see anybody bug abusing, report them!

I doubt this is the case though but either way

wait. For the mod that locked the thread. I know

the rules. I kept it inside the guidelines. It was

close to breaking them, but as far as i can tell

it didn't.[/hide]

For further evidence concerning the matter look at the graphs of rares. ALL 3a is going up. I mean ALL. The price increase of most of the 3a started within 2 days of each other. Most rares are crashing, and only 3a is left. They are most-likely duping that now. I'm sure you all will say that school starting is playing a major role in the matter, but honestly.. what fool would horde that much 3a for soooooooo long and just now sell it? 3a and other items didn't do this last year when school started so why should this year be any different. Yes many things have changed, but not to the point of causing this epidemic...

~epac~

Tbh I think 3rd is just people tired of waiting for Jagex to fix prices and smart enough to know that junking 100mil is extremely stupid...so theyre selling it....i doubt its b/c of dupes...but then again who knows

[hide=]As many of you might have noticed. Prices for most

of the "rare" items in Runescape are dropping

drastically fast. You might not believe me or take

it as a lie. But I suspected for a while that this

was the effect of an "Item dupe."

I for one, used to be a part of that "crowd." I

suffered a loss for that.(my account being banned)

Alas I have come to agree with Jagex on their part

though. Just recently I contacted some of my old

sources,friends,etc., and they verified my

suspicions.

There IS a dupe. In the next few weeks notice the

steady decline in 3rd Age prices. That is the only

"profitable" thing they could dupe now. It is

getting out of hand.

I ask you, Jagex, to please try your best to

resolve this issue. It is crashing our market,

YOUR market, that you worked so hard to fix(Grand

Exchange,trade limit,Removal of Player

killing,Death of R.W.T,etc.) Now that I play

regularly it is affecting me as well. I don't

appreciate it, and I'm sure everyone will be with

me on this one.

You many not believe me or just take this is a

joke, but I'm serious. I have discussed the market

value changes with several well known merchants in

Runescape and they have also verified a drastic

change that could only be caused by a dupe.

I leave it in your hands now. :(

out.

////////

I do NOT know how this is done otherwise it would

be reported straight to Jagex. Currently the only

knowledge I could weed out of them is that it

involves Item Lending. I also have suspicions it

has something to do with killing yourself with

Zamorak Brews. I have noticed several people

committing suicide with them with rares on at G.E.

and several other places.

Edit:

I verified the suicide thing with another old

friend. That's all I've got. I'm hoping this leads

to a fix.

Okay. Well, a conspiracy theorist finally left the

recent updates to warn us of the "dupe."

For more evidence if you would please notice the

charts on God-Swords and other rare items after

the Lending update. They were not dropping at such

a fast rate until that happened. If ANYTHING they

should have increased in price due to people

lending more than buying. Which leads to less

people doing G.W.D to add more items to the

economy. In "reality" that should have caused

prices to increase. Yet.. oh wait.. they're

dropping...

O and the prices are cheaper, and 3rd age is

rising because there are more of them. They havent

done too many of those yet. Just the fact that

they have moved so much lately tells you

something. They will go up due to the high demand

before they go down.

But you're saying they're duping stuff. As in,

Sure, it's difficult to back up what you said,

They aren't trying to bring down the economy

inside they game. All these people want is MONEY

IN REAL LIFE. They are using this game to make a

profit and going from there. By doing so it's

causing the economy to fail within game. They

could care less what happens. These are mainly

little kids around 12-16(no offence guys/girls)

that have been banned for breaking the rules, and

are being led by a few older ones that are in it

for the money.

The concern they have for Runescape is only what

they can dupe next to make a profit for

themselves.

I am hoping a J-mod reads this. This is hard to

So....

They are "duping" accounts, and selling them?

And Jagex isn't noticing dozens of the same

account, with the same stats, and the same items

all with no past of membership or anything?

Sorry. Come up with a better conspiracy.

The dupe that happened involving Phats used a

third party program that intercepted packets,

something that was fixed with-in HOURS of

discovery. And can no longer be done

or off to UNI this year may know in advance they

wont have a lot of member time anymore, so they

were selling off their member stuff.

We didnt say duping accounts lol. They make a new

account and fill it with money before selling it.

Prices

should be doing the opposite...especially with the

new update coming.

Personally I detest junk trades. As you can tell

most of my levels are lower and I don't trade in

bulk. There is no reason for me to "attempt" a

profit out of a false positive.

In your post you said it involved killing yourself

with Zamorak brews, this however is incorrect as

Zamorak brews drop your health by a percentage,

thus once you reach 1 the damage done to you is

zero.

Stop scare mongouring; noone is duplicating

anything.

31-Aug-2008 05:38:14

Josh you CAN kill yourself with Zamorak brews. Go

ahead and try it. You will die. Once you get to

1hp it will take a while, but eventually it will

hit a 1.

If it's all true, like hell they'll be able of

stopping it.

They had to cut on the Wilderniss, the freedom to

merchant and the player's self-build-economy for

gold farmers, because of RWT.

What do you expect them to do, to stop RWT-ers

using entire accounts to haul cash around for

currency?

(If thats the problem, that is. This thread is

confusing the heck outta' me)

The Evilpope

Oh and:

"The dupers are rwt people who dupe an account up

to 4bil then sell it. I have heard they have made

over 50k real money selling these accounts. Now

that people have a much harder time trading money

from one account to another, they simply sell the

whole account alltogether."

I suggest you make your statements a bit clearer

in the future.

As the above can be taken quite easily as stating

they are duping actual accounts.

Though I see now exactly HOW you wanted it to be

read.

To stop it they would most-likely need to

implement further restrictions and fail-safes

inside the coding of Item-Lending.

Alrighty, can't let this thread countinue on any

further.

I'm locking this thread, as its nothing more than

a rumour

If this was really True... then you should go to

report a bug section and report it; not tell us

about it. That does nothing!

And if you see anybody bug abusing, report them!

I doubt this is the case though but either way

real or not this thread is getting locked.

Quick find code: 74-75-475-57531014

I DID send a bug report. Nothing we can do but

Tbh I think 3rd is just people tired of waiting for Jagex to fix prices and smart enough to know that junking 100mil is extremely stupid...so theyre selling it....i doubt its b/c of dupes...but then again who knows

There arent that many 3rd age items period to make the price go up even if they all sold. At least there werent...now there are.

I think that so many people have lost money since the fall of pking and with them many skillers, that prices might be catching up with the funds people have. Sure, in some ways making money is easier because the hastle of selling warers is gone, but the money made is definatly less. Maybe in time it will balence out. And I must point out that while many markets are falling, many more are rising up to their former glory that was exorberant prices common to the heyday of pk'ing as well.

I'm sorry, but I fail to see how RS could possibly be in a recession. Sure, the prices of high end things are crashing down about our ears, but how many people does that really affect?

The higher end items plummeting down to reality can't constitute a recession. Now, if Yews went to 600 and Coal went up to 300...and getting profit from boss NPCs was nigh impossible...then maybe you'd have an argument.

I hope some prices keep going down, *Cough*Godswords*Cough* Some are just way over priced. But then again if I ever want to sell a Gs I'll want the prices to skyrocket, so...I'm just a merchant noob.

no, its not recession at all. if we were in recession prices would go up and there would be less money going into the market, from drops etc, to buy these desired items. Really we are in accession there are more people with over 100m than ever before and you see more and more people walking round in expensive equipment. This is mainly due to gwd and not the original methods of money gaining. coinshare has ruined the economy, although many people have benefited from it the sheer number of drops have made the items decrease in value and increased supply= cheaper prices, however there does not seem to be a halt in the people going to gwd, infact theres probably more than ever. Also jagex have recently allowed the prices of the stated goods to be controlled by the market "more", however if they drop much lower then they will step in again.

Heh.. I didn't really believe the "summer ends, everyone goes f2p" theory.. But i think i have proof of it :twss:

EDIT: i also have a little question to everyone, who believes this is because somebody found a way to dupe stuff. Why all the partyhats are stuck to their prices, and santa is rising?

I won't believe it [completely] until I see it, but, from what I'm seeing in the GE database, it's definitely a possibility.

The partyhats are stuck because barely anyone wants to buy them at their current GE prices and, because nobody's trading them, they're stuck.

I'm not sure you can call a +50k price change a rise for something like the santa hat. If you're just talking about the fact that it's about 4 mill more than it was a few months ago, that's because of the santa suit that's coming out this Christmas.

According to Epac blue phats should drop soon enough if they can manage to sell. Rune scims are used in F2P pking.

Matt: You want that eh? You want everything good for you. You want everything that's--falls off garbage can

Camera guy: Whoa, haha, are you okay dude?

Matt: You want anything funny that happens, don't you?

Camera guy: still laughing

Matt: You want the funny shit that happens here and there, you think it comes out of your [bleep]ing [wagon] pushes garbage can down, don't you? You think it's funny? It comes out of here! running towards Camera guy

Camera guy: runs away still laughing

Matt: You think the funny comes out of your mother[bleep]ing creativity? Comes out of Satan, mother[bleep]er! nn--ngh! pushes Camera guy down

Camera guy: Hoooholy [bleep]!

Matt: FUNNY ISN'T REAL! FUNNY ISN'T REAL!

going with the rune scmmy thing, also look at teh rice drop in d hallys!! it's going gradually though, probably because the smaerter players sell them faster. well, still funny!

EDIT: I was looking at the 7-day... when you look at the 30-day for d hallys, the drop is MASSIVE.

Death should not be taken as 'the end,' but a very effective way to cut down taxes.
