Macmaster92
It does get very annoying when it feels like you can't say anything because you think that everyone will make a stupid sick joke out of it. I wish everyone would just defragment they're brains. They could use some cleaning up.

Who
Don't worry, it passes eventually. It's really just a freshman thing for the most part. For your case maybe, but from my experiences, juniors and seniors can be just as immature as the average 5 year old. For all dealings of idiocy, I usually reply in monotone, showing absolutely no emotion. They may find the monotone speaking to be humorous, but it gets old for them fast and they'll move on to the next poor victim that hasn't been massively overdosed with testosterone. Just today, a student I know wanted to tell a story involving porn to a girl. Sure some guys might find it humorous, but seriously, if your going to be an idiot, torture your own gender. :wall: The Complete MTA Handbook | Runecrafting Pouch Analysis | Mobilizing Armies Locator Index
jemathonical
That sounds mature. Over in Australia here no one goes around saying 'in the butt' or 'that's what she said'. Saru Inc
I don't encounter it very often, so I actually found your friend's reply quite funny. As long as it's used appropriately and sparingly I can have a good chuckle at a "so's your face!" or a "that's what your mum said!". Essentially grown up potty humor really doesn't have an appropriate time to be said. I've noticed this; a lot, it's quite annoying. I have all the 99s, and have been playing since 2001. I would've thought it would've got old at grade 8. I assume this thread in general refers to the school environment (most people 'really' grow up at least by age 25 and stop being little kids)... Well I wouldn't know about Australia, but nordic countries/Europe in general... And I spent my early school years in the States.. American modern culture (of the youth) is by definition arrogant and ignorant. There is some diseased obsession with humiliation, sex, appearances... And it's pretty sickening, wouldn't want to raise a kid there right now... Don't think you're going to encounter the same phenomena in other countries, even nearly to the same degree. Really, if someone kept making the same retarded jokes about anything anybody said (even if totally neutral and normal phrases), they'd be social outcasts in a school pretty fast in an european country... Its funny because im not an outcast. Though thats not to say im hugely popular, either. lol, college. But we were talking about rods and cones (eye nerve connective things in the retina) today and the jokes were flying thick and fast. "Hurr, id subsect my rod to you, if you know what I mean", "If you were a nerve connecting you would be a cone because you take 4 at a time." The insanity never stops here. baalboy5
That why before I say something thats a potential sex joke I say Non-Homo. and then say w/e, Non-homo is the phrase to make it that w/e I'm or someone going to say can't be sex-u-lated. MPM
Don't worry, most of the group will grow out of it by the time their 16. The rest of them are doomed to making "funny" sexual innuendos for the rest of their life, because they can't think of anything amusing and relative to insert into the conversation. After that, "That's what she said" will be just said maybe once or twice a week as a filler when a conversation suddenly dies. ~M
mrpez
its not just english. let me give you a few examples in spanish: año - year ano- [wagon] pero - but perro- b*tch pedo - fart (in spanish, an 'r' is pronounced as a 'd', so 'pero' and 'pedo' are pronounced the same) actually its: pera - pear, wait(slang) perra - b*tch and in spanish an "r" isnt pronounced as a "d" so pero isn't pedo yeah, the 'perro' was a typo, should have had an 'a' at the end. this is relevant to the topic because its not just in english that words can be made to have other meanings. 'r' is pronounced as a soft 'd' in spanish. if you are not pronouncing them as a soft 'd' its a mispronunciation. its not supposed to be a hard 'r' sound like in english. megakiller32
It's not that bad where I live, but i feel sorry for you, that's an insane situation... Meh, hopefully people mature up and forget about the connotations, it's normally because people are too stupid and unfunny, so they take the easy way out and make a sexual reference. meol
It seems it's just a phase, as someone else already said. I remember such jokes in my class like 3-4 years ago, but right now most of our class has grown out of that attitude. I'm not saying we're all mature, but non of us would tell those jokes now. -For Spanish speakers there's a lot of difference between a hard r, a soft r and a d. Problems arise for English speakers since they usually can't handle the r's. This signature is intentionally left blank.
The Observer
Good thing most of my good friends are like that. Yes, I said most. Some of them are just terrible. I can think of examples... Hawks
A few years ago, we couldn't say one sentance without someone ending it with 'that's what she said' 'in your pants' or ergh somthign else I can't remember right now. But I have a funny story. In German, [bleep] (dang... it's blocked. nickname for 'richard', starts with d?) means fat. However you can think of what else it means. So we're sitting there, the teacher's like [bleep] means fat. So after that we have some five minutes of pure laughter, even the teacher. Also in German class today, she made two kids (boy and girl) go up front and tango to a song... Anyway, she was showing them how to tango and she says 'are you ready to do it?' to the girl, who didn't know how to tango. Everybody starts laughing again, and the teacher apologizes profusely to the girl. Needless to say, German is the best class for numerous reasons. sig by Soa.....tip.it times.....art & mediadeviantart/flickr/last.fm/steam/twitter/tumblr/youtube
mrpez
'r' is pronounced as a soft 'd' in spanish. if you are not pronouncing them as a soft 'd' its a mispronunciation. its not supposed to be a hard 'r' sound like in english. The 'r' is rolled, not pronounced as a 'd.' If you are not pronouncing them with a roll of the tongue it's a mispronunciation. 'rr' is rolled. 'rr' is not the same letter as 'r'. if you're going to try to rebuke what im saying, then at least be grammatically correct. 'r' is pronounced as a soft 'd'. just as 'v' is pronounced as a 'b' and 'd' is pronounced 'th', there are many nuances to the language newcomers butcher. i speak regularly with spanish speakers that have been speaking the language for more than half their lives, and they have corrected me on this issue many times. i wont argue past this point, as i know i am correct and it makes no difference to me whether or not you mispronounce words. any argument past this one is simply devoid from the topic, so i will not respond.
