First off, saying 'if you have nothing good to say (meaning support) then don't post post' is like putting up a big neon sign saying "hey look at me. I have an opinion but I don't wan't anyone chalenging it because they might win". Not that it really matters for this topic, but I should hope if you post in the rants forum that you won't include that in our post.

Aywhoo, yes it does make everything alot easier. Ok, maybe it does make people lazy, and there are perhaps a few things I might have produced myself that I don't bother with anymore. But, for me it also made clues doable since everytime a uri clue comes up you can garuntee if I haven't had the clue before, I probably don't have the items(s) he needs. He asks for a dimond ring and I have a Ring of Life. He wan't blue vambraces? I have those...[bleep]ed. He wants and iron platebody...why the hell would I have an iron platebody in my bank?

It's just, every week something comes up and I need an item to do some (normally small and short) important task and I don't wan't to cross Gielinor on some epic quest second only to one small favor (the key ring was barely worth it, but I need that bank space now so i'm good).

But where it really gets me, is when I skill or collect loot, I just dump in the GE (I like the ankous) which is good because if I take all my armour off, I need to withdraw a few items to get it all in. But if I were catching chinchompas, maybe I would take a 10 minute break, go dump in the GE and be back catching chinchompas instead of wandering the RSOF and world hopeing trying to find someone to buy my stuff. Also with chinchompas, if I get tired at 1978, I can sell them all, I dont need to go back again to catch 22 more so I can meet the 200 minamum quantity buy limit.

So ya it makes people lazy, but our real life society is the exact same thing, making everything easier and more conveniant. So maybe your charecter wander the world is fine, but when you want chicken for supper do you wan't to have to go out back, kill one, de-feather it, and then cook it. You would have to start making supper by lunch time.

Dude i freaking agree! I remember looking for stuff to complete treasure trails like some crap including ham robes and gnome tops. I think it definitely was more fun when you couldn't just go to one place and get it. Good topic imo

This got Hot Topic? It's pretty obvious: "Auto-trade is much easier than self-reliance." Any half-[wagon] knows that. Yet it gets Hot Topic. Blows my mind.

There's no need for an essay about it though. I was there and I can guarantee if I had the choice to use a GE system back then, I would have. I agree with Killy, there isn't much of a hot topic in this thread, unless it's buried under piles of poorly formed sentences.

well before the ge only the elite(skillers and people maxing total) worked on "buyable" skills now anyone that has money can do the "buyable skills"

it would be pretty darn hard to get unfinished potions, already tanned leathers, before the ge and you had to buy everything personally on forums or world2

making money was harder as well

you had to personally sell each dragon boots drop, whip drop, ect meaning finding a buyer and such you couldnt go put natures on the ge and go to sleep so you might spend a whole day selling natures for 280-300 each instead of selling them while you sleep and go to school.

the ge is the reason more people are 2376 because they dont have to be a merchantee to get these levels just use ge

I find if funny how someone who got lower overall and cmb level currently than I had in RSC uses that arguement. The fact is that the game gets easier all the time due updates and I find it pretty ironic how someone who hasn't even achieved anything yet is saying how "we old" are suffering from this "new" thing.

I wouldn't say that's the only thing. After all even by trading the buyables were nothing compared to RC, slay or other such skills. Also certain items were not that hard to buy and for example due the smaller demand on raw materials and lesser supply on ending productions, certain skills were cheaper or at least had cheaper options than they have now.

I don't know when exactly but at the time, he would have played for a smaller amount of time than you (RSC: 3 years and 3 months I believe, you, 3 years and 6 months). And chances are he didn't start on the first day of RS.

That's not the point, however I started in early 2001. The point is that you haven't experienced the dramatical changes in RS that have made it so much easier that you could act the way you are. So, you have experienced the pre-GE period. That makes things a bit easier, but it's far from the changes we've had in the past: I trained to 90 hp with ways that at tops gave 1/4th of the current "good" xp/h rate. People in the past spent longer uncerting items than you are now forced to use in order to get from 1 to lvl 99. Even the precious mining has changed a lot: now you can actually see if you should swing the pick to the rock, you use less clicks to do an "infinite swing" (mine until the rock is empty) than you did in the past to get one hit and so on. You don't know what RS was like and your comments on someone being "too new to know" are nothing more than funny and yet same time sad.

Bottom line is: if GE is the thing that bothers you, you know nothing about the past. RS has changed a lot during the years and the trend is to make it "easier". GE itself is only one thing that has made RS easier and definately less affective on the "babying" way than many other updates. If I had to rank updates that have "babied" rs, GE wouldn't be even close to top 10.

I see your point Hohto, but really, GE just takes it to another level. It effects the whole market and that's a huge chunk of Runescape.

Okay, but... that's related to babying?

Umm.... Yeah? By market I meant the whole trading process in general.

It makes getting stuff easier so we can do something even more fun. Nuff said, IDK who would have fun going to a place to buy something, your lying to yourself, you want it NOW and you want it so you can do something FUN. Not having FUN to get something so you can have MORE fun when you can just buy it in a stance. :wall:

Don't you know the first rule of MMO's? Anyone higher level than you has no life, and anyone lower than you is a noob.

Cause you know, everytime i went to pickup my molten glass for quest i would totally kill a hellhound and get 3a from the clue that just so happened tobe on the first kill of the hell hound in catherbury...

Nah i'm playing. Yeah it promotes laziness and takes that little exitement out of the game but i like it due to the hours saved that are now spent actually doing something progressive.

Let your yellow mellow.

I generally gather my stuff my self, it happens to be cheaper, but when I need something I don't have the levels to get (i.e. law runes) I do use the GE.

I also use the GE to sell off my finished products.

Never argue with a dragon, for you are crunchy, and tast good with catsup.
