fgfuyfyuiuy0 Posted September 30, 2008 Share Posted September 30, 2008 Let me explain what a turn around day is as I kind of made it up, but I don't know if there is an actual term for these days. A turn around day, imo, is a moment in a day that changes your outlook instantly. This usually happens after you have had a pretty crappy day/week and this day comes and makes everything better for the time being. [hide=My story (long)]I've had a pretty crappy week. The week started with me driving out of school on Monday. I was driving to the second campus for my next class. A cop was in the lane next to me. I needed to get into the next lane as I had to get onto the freeway and the ramp was coming up. I didn't want to speed up and pass the cop as I might get pulled over. I tried slowing down, but the cop stayed evenly with my car. I missed the ramp. Right as it passed, the cop pulled into my lane and flashed his lights. I pulled over. Turns out my registration expired. The car is registered under my dad's name, but I paid full for it, so my dad didn't pay for the car. Since my dad's name was on it, so was his P.O. Box for the address. The letter either was never mailed or my dad failed to give me the notice for the expired registration. I was fined $115. Bleh. So, I had to get a smog test and register my car costing about $150. I am literally down to $75 in my bank. I took on more shifts to pay for the ticket. I have a job, but paying for my gas and my insurance causes me to constantly remain at $0 in my bank. So, I had also pulled an all-nighter to study for a test the previous week. I got my test results the day after I got pulled over. I failed the test. Eh. My dad was upset with me all week because our internet didn't work. It's my duty as the only computer literate person in our house to fix everything technological wise even if it is beyond my control. I had made plans with my friend the previous week to stay at his house to film some videos. My dad decided the next day to go to San Fransisco for 4 days, so I had to cancel my plans and watch the house. This bad week, I made plans, again, to stay at my friend's house. I reminded my parents many times. So, I stayed the night. My dad called at 10am and told me to come home because Charter was there and he wanted me to learn everything. I said I couldn't as I didn't drive to my friend's house and we still had to film. My dad hung up. I knew I'd be in trouble if I didn't come home, so I called him back. I came home. I was grounded, but apparently not as bad as I would have been if I hadn't come home. Charter ended up not fixing anything. All the problems consisted of faulty wiring under ground throughout the streets. My dad got mad at me more this weekend for my sister's printer not working, for me not knowing Macs and not being able to fix his, and for zoning out while he was talking about how I am not a part of the family and don't contribute. Well, I was worried about money and needed gas money. I go online to my bank account to move over my last $20 and what do I find? I found a balance of $1,400. Apparently, I had a bank account that I had stopped using and that money had gained interest over the years. The bank had seen that, moved over the money, and closed the old account. That really made my week :D So, it was a whole week since last Monday of horrible days and now I am rewarded :D I feel pretty good. tl;dr I had a crappy week and some money problems and received $1,400 today thanks to an old, forgotten bank account.[/hide] So, have you ever had one of these days and felt so good afterward? Gf dumps me, and her new bf hates me for reasons I don't know (I think it was because we were going out, and he was jealous) So now she doesn't want to see me again -.- and 2 days before she told me she only likes him as a friend. My phone was nicked on a train on my way to the beach, so I had to use the last of the cash in my bank to buy a new one as I need one on me. Not only that but I barely have any of the contacts that I did before, which is a real pain -.- Lately, because it's so hot here in Aus, I have been really affected by the heat, getting heatstroke twice in 2 days :? Been feeling down lately, probably because it's holidays, and I never see enough people, and a few of my social gathering don't run during the holidays. All in all, life sucks for me atm. Stilev Posted September 30, 2008 Share Posted September 30, 2008 i've had a couple lately today wake up 8am for bio lab, we usually get out at 11:30 and i really wanted to get out, but the teacher drags the class on till 12:15 and i got so mad, why? normally i wouldn't even raise an eye brow but i had a lunch date at 11:30 today and i know she has class at 12:20 so im like she's already left :( so im walking to the dinning hall and i ran into her :lol: so she is like :evil: 'i can believe you stood me up' and made me carry her books to her next class :lol: so i was happy i was able to at lest say hi and explain lol Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
tintin113 Posted September 30, 2008 Share Posted September 30, 2008 I never have "turn around days," but I know what you mean and I think I've had a few turn around couple of days (one awesome day then one rubbish day.) For example last Tuesday: (For me a good day is made up of lots of little things) -I got 100% in a Chemistry test that I'd forgotten about and thus hadn't revised for (I'm rubbish at Chemistry.) -We watched a video for the entire of double Geography. -For lunch we had my favourite pasta bake! :thumbup: -Games lesson in the afternoon, I won the 800m "warm-up" race, lapping a couple of people, then scored 5 goals! \ -To finish off the day one of the best things known to man: free subways!@@@@ (A new subways had opened in town and were giving out free 6-inchers!!) Even though there was a giant queue it was really fun just to be there, and then FREE SUBWAYS on top!! -Got home and had... no homework! : Pretty awesome day for me. Then Wednesday: -Had to argue my way out of a detention because it turns out I actually did have homework yesterday (I didn't know that on Tuesday though so it's still a good day.) -Got given all the hardest questions for the rest of the lesson because my teacher hates being beaten. -Double History... nuff said. -Awful lunch. -Got home to a load of homework. rangeor Posted October 1, 2008 Share Posted October 1, 2008 Lately i've been feeling pretty down. Didn't feel like living, almost started contemplating suicide. My life was just horrible. But eventually things turned around. Not going to talk about what got me sad, it's kind of embarassing really... but one of the things that brought me back up was that I found a way to get my music onto itunes and napster for only $10 a year :D and I only have to sell 15 singles a year in order to profit. [hide=my "turn around week"]Well this happened last week, on Monday I received a notice during my homeroom that apparently I wasn't at study hall 6th period on the previous friday. I had to sue my entire study hall going to the attendance office to get it sorted out. On wednesday, I got another message during homeroom that said I had skipped study hall on the Monday I went to clear up the issue from the last Friday! I was really ticked, wasted another study hall clearing it up, making sure this time all my study halls were clear. Friday I go on the internet because I have nothing better to do friday night, find out laptop is broken. Some part of it had malfunctioned and I can no longer get wireless internet. Had to ship it to Hewitt-Packard and am currently waiting for it to return. Saturday my parish was having it's annual carnival. It's a 3 day thing from Friday to sunday. Couldn't go friday because I had homework and laptop issues, went saturday hoping to see my old friends who are now in other schools. I came, no one was there, I waited 2 hours, then I left. At around 10 in the night when I was winding up for the day, I get a text from an old friend asking why I wasn't at the festival (apparently they had come an hour after I left). I missed out on seeing about a dozen of my friends one last time. Well I decided to go sunday for the hell of it, texted my friend to see if she was coming, but she never responded. So I thought this was gonna be another stupid day. Turns out as soon as I get there 10 of my former junior high friends are there, welcoming me, asking why I didn't come saturday, and then for the next 5 hours we chatted, told jokes, and had some fun. Really put a boost in my week :[/hide] [hide=]tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :( :lol:But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Yes, but I stopped believing in bad days when people would complain about having a bad day every other day. I can understand a lot of things going wrong in 1 day, but when people start categorizing a day as bad when all that happened was they were cut off while driving, I become irritated.
